I am well aware that many people use this device with no issues, but this is my, and after research, many people's personal experience with this device. I thought it would be good for people to be aware that it's not always as plug and play as it seems and it is possible to experience this. I recommend that if you want to try this device and see if it works, make sure you buy it from a place that has a great return policy and test it during that period. Hope this is enough info for you and your future creative endeavors!
@@H2SMediaLtd very possible and great point! I know elgato makes great hardware and I use their stuff most. Def why I said try in the return policy period because issues happened for me right away but I sat on it for a month lol. But I have zero complained about the gamecapture60pro!

Just use a Canon - like the M50 - for vlogging/RUclips video. They dropped drivers to allow your camera to be used like a webcam with just a usb cable - completely bypasses the cam link. It works remarkably well
i'm a sony guy, but if you are buying a camera and dont own one already, that's def good to know...sony just did the same with some of their camera, BUT the resolution is not 1080p and thats what i shoot for even if the face cam is way small
I like the 80d.....its way better and more easier to use in my opinion
I agree with you Brian about vlogs and youtube. In my experience, I got the M50 mk.2, and I’ve been trying for months to get it to work with cam link 4k. And i have the same thing Ernest has. Its completely unreliable. Freezing is ridiculous. And everybody who is experiencing the problem has different setups and settings making it even more complicated and difficult to pinpoint a solution.
Yo Ernest! Good review. I have the Cam Link 4K as well, and the internal card is a good route to go if running into USB bandwidth/power issues. There is a doc on their site that helped me figure out how to space out my stuff to make sure at least my webcam and external hard drive were not using the same power/bandwidth. The article I found is "Two Elgato USB 3.0 Devices on one Computer - Two USB 3.0 Root Hubs Needed" Generally helpful with desktop setups, but not on a laptop. Best of luck, and they have told me they have a 2 year warranty :)
I had the same problem but you just have to go through the settings in the elgato 4k software
I've had the exact same issues using a sony a6400 when using obs. I found out if you play games in windowed mode and use a software called "winexp" you can basically make it look fullscreen without it actually being full screen and it prevents it from freezing a lot when you click between monitors but still does freeze if you open up apps like photoshop or premiere pro on occasions. Love the videos as always
I have one too, I have never had any issues with it.....
Guess that people dont talk about that problem because they are not using a 4K camera (maybe). It takes WAY more to process a 4K signal than a 1080p or even 1440p. So maybe thats the problem. People are using 1080p cams for streaming (maybe u an try it just to check if that solves the problem. Set ur camera to 1080p and try it. On stream since the camera will be small you dont lose much quality at all, prob people cant even tell the difference if u use the 4k setting over the 1080p)

streams and 4k dont mix, twitch encoding can barely achieve 1080p stream quality
also anyone i know that has used external capture devices has had issues from stuttering to delayed audio
pretty sure most ppl dont have USB ports good enought to handle that type of data flow

Basically, it's an USB limitation that, to be honest, is quite well known. What you may try is to choose lower resolution or use more appropriate device that is connected to the bus "more directly".
This is the very reason there are no USB monitors on the market. Think about it -- you just want the same but in the opposite direction. That would not work either. USB 3.1 would work actually, but I don't think the device supports it.
Yeah, it supports only 3.0. The higher speed is only available on 3.1+ gen2
