Ironically, you may notice a few frame drops in this particular video. It doesn't have anything to do with the Cam Link Pro. I'm currently chasing down the issue, but there was no way to fix it for this video. Hope you enjoyed regardless!!
EposVox, would the Cam Link Pro be better than the 4K 60S+ ? I just bought the 4K 60S+, but cannot get smooth, clear video from it in OBS. Would the Cam Link Pro be better with my Nikon camera, with less headaches ?
@EposVox Also, can it do 4K HDR at 24 or 30 FPS ? I'm torn between this, and 4K60 S+ which I am consider returning. It's now in OBS, and I don't know if it's cause my 10400, and RTX 2060, cant handle the feed, or whether the 4K 60S+ is too slow over the cables they provide or my own.
A video on overhead filming would be appreciated. Especially with regards to lens recommendations and tricks for reducing glare. It's so important for miniature painting
This is rad! FYI (anyone curious about multiple inputs), If you nest your video input sources into their own scene, then use THAT scene in your main scenes, you're then able to change your input source without changing your scene. Pair it with the Lua Source toggle script and it's a really consistent and reliable solution. Another rad tip is to duplicate that Input Sources scene, call the first "A" and the new duplicate "B". Put both of these scenes into a new scene called "A-B Switcher", then use THAT scene in your main scenes. Then you can setup a hotkey to swap between your current A and current B inputs. Sorta like how in some games you can select any weapon directly, but also have a dedicated "switch to previous" kind of function. This is just some of the rad things you can do in OBS with nested inputs, and when paired with a foot controller... it's a really empowering production workflow, especially if you're hands are busy opening pokemon cards, or holding a gamepad (or Steam Controller ;)).
This is kind of what I do, with scenes acting as « slots », which are then themselves included in other scenes (with the layout on top etc). Each input is wrapped in a scene, and all « input scenes » are on top of another in a « slot scene ». I then use UPDeck on an iPad to change their visibility / order, same as one would on a stream deck with the LUA script I guess.

So I just bought this now, more than a year later, for 150€ (150$ since covnersion is 1:1 at this point)... after your video I am thinking it's an amazing deal! HOWEVER. I am just waiting for a 4k60, 1440p120 capture card. Sadly not even magewell nor decklink support that, I think? As you say, if they used PCIe 3.0 or 4.0 it would be enough...
Does it support 10 bit capture? Really want to output log for good dynamic range on my S1H and S5. The Rec709 profiles clip way too early for my taste and in 8 bit V-Log breaks apart.
My Cam Link 4K that is plugged into the back of my PC overheats during long live streams, unless I position a USB fan above it. Some of the other solutions needed loud fans to cool the cards. This looks like it has air vents but no fan. Does it get hot over longer recording sessions, with multiple cams live?
Definitely something I'll be on the lookout once my new rig is complete (waiting for GPU and CPU), for now I'll have to make do with the Feelworld Livepro as my current rig has no spare PCIe slots available. Maybe I miseed it in the video but does the multiview feature actually be output and viewed by the audience? If so, it becomes a real must have when compared to the ATEM Mini for my purposes when filming or streaming model-making/painting how tos and commentaries.
Does this work more like a camlink or a capture card? Specifically, can the cameras be used in more than one program at a time? I run two instances of OBS and I can have my Avermedia capture card as a source on both, but I can't have my CamLink 4k, so instead I end up having to do virtual camera from one OBS instance over to the other one which isn't ideal.
Hi EposVox , love your content. may I ask if the Elgato Cam Link Pro will it work in a thunderbolt 3 enclosure hooked into an intel nuc (with rtx3060ti) for capturing 4k off video camera's ?
This looks amazing, but I have one important question. Does this card function with elgato's Game Capture HD software, even tho it calls itself a cam link instead of a game capture card? When I'm not streaming or using OBS, that is what i play my switch through. I love being able to power my switch on and open game capture hd to just play my switch on my desktop. When I stream I play off of a monitoring window of my capture, but I'd like to not have to open obs to just play my switch I didnt even hear about this when it launched lol, just finding out as I was checking the cam link prices on amazon just now. This is something i've been wanting for years. There have been alot of multi input cards on the market for years, but elgato just straight up has the best software and integrations for streaming. I may replace my HD60 pro card with this.
Looks like if you want to capture console gameplay (+ passthrough) you’d need a dedicated capture card plus this new cam link pro for multiple cameras + a motherboard (and PC setup) that can handle both + a streamdeck am I wrong? In this case what about plugging an ATEM Mini onto an AVerMedia Live Gamer Duo, wouldn’t this be cheaper and more capable (besides 4k resolution)? Thanks @eposvox for the good work, as always!
@@EposVox yes that’s why an ATEM Mini + AVerMedia Live Gamer Duo combo looks like the way to go at least for my case. Thanks a lot for taking the time to answer my comments!
I would like a review of the amazing Minolta X-370 you snuck into this vid... let's expand the channel focus to retro film photography equipment reviews... what is free time?
IDK if that's just the shutter speed was too high of the A cam that you used to film this video from the beginning, the capture card or the PC that couldn't handle it but there are a lot of dropped frames, I was into the video for 5 sec and already noticed a lot of dropped frames, wanted to double check that if it is my browser but everything seemed fine on my end, watching @1440p.
Thanks for this video! What about HDMI passthrough? If I wanted to connect two cameras and a console into OBS, can I still pass the console through to my TV?
I love it! Shout out to ElKitty for continuing to innovate and make high quality video production easier for the masses. 👐 Now, how do I justify purchasing this device? 🤔 So many possibilities.
I have a Question, I'm doing this but with 2 Cam Link 4K for each cameras. Would the Cam Link Pro be a much more simpler solution? I only ask because I only have 2 camera's and the Pro has 4 inputs. Would it be simpler for me to get the Cam Link Pro to do the same thing as what I'm trying to Do with my Cam Link 4K?
I've got an ATEM mini pro ISO. Is there any software that will let me do ISO recording like that does? I want to use OBS as doing clever stuff just seems easier in that.
@EposVox, I think you mentioned using this to connect mobile phones as cameras. What method would you use to connect to the Cam Link Pro? I currently have one of my old phones connected, but it requires a USB connection with the Droidcam software and client. Do I just need to change the cable to a mini USB to HDMI one?
It’s a camera capture card and the majority of cameras anyone would use for streaming (or even filmmaking) won’t output 4:4:4 in the first place. Would be cool if it supported it, but non-issue IMO
@@EposVox thank you for the reply, I have a A7S2 outputting 10 bit 4:2:2 and I noticed better image quality on XRGB although the framerate seems like dropping. Not sure what it is, but since I'm not moving a lot it doesn't really happen ever. Any ideas?
Has anyone tested this card for OSSC compatibility on it's different line multiplication modes? This card might be exactly what I need but really would like to know about OSSC compat. before spending 300+ on it just to find out it's a no go. Thanks in advance for any info!
Cam link 4K, and the Pro, both work with any HDMI signal that’s within spec (1080p30/60, 1440p30/60, 4k30 and lower) If anything the Atem Mini supports less devices by not having 4K support.
@@EposVox I always had the issue where I needed a clean HDMI Signal. So, I can connect a Canon M50 to the HMDI Quad Card? Other than bandwidth, why would I purchase an Elgato HDMI Quad Card when I have an ATEM-Mini. Is the fact the card is connected to my motherboard while the ATEM-Mini USB-C?
That’s an issue no matter what capture device you use - the ATEM mini needs clean HDMI too, it can’t magically strip away your overlays on your camera feed. There isn’t really a reason to get the Cam Link Pro if you already have an ATEM mini
Is there a cable add-on that I can attach to my USB cable of my Logitech C922 camera? So I can plug the webcams into these HDMI slots of this cam link pro. Need help; not very tech savvy). If there is such an add-on cable; a link would be cool...
*Should* be able to plug the Logitech into one of your USBs and have it show up in OBS or whatever you're using. This card is for DSLRs, camcorders, etc. that don't output video over USB.
Does it do software encoding or Hardware encoding ? Is there any latency ? Is the PIP scaleable of fix size ? How does the Capture card PCIe affect the bandwidth of GPU PCIe ?
@@EposVox Thank you reply back. Also, I dont care about the 4k60 output, But not having a 4K60 input means it cannot be used with Xbox and PS with 4K TV, even with a splitter. That's a deal breaker for me.
I'mma just wait for an HDMI 2.1 capture card. I think this is super cool but I don't have much use for it. And I was gonna get the HD60S+ to hold me over but... That thing is $200 while the 4K60 Pro is $250. So I'm in this weird purgatory of "Don't wanna get the 4K60 Pro when HDMI 2.1 is surely around the corner" but also "Don't want to spend $200 on a HD60S+ when a 4K60 Pro can be had for just $50 more". Ugh.
I just picked one up from elgato... which will be the best setup? Ryzen 3700x or 10700? Also, I want to use it to stream my son playing drums on youtube exactly like the Cam Link Pro demo video on the elgato site. Can anyone point me to a graphics overlay resource and/or tutorial for the cool graphics that were used in the video? Thanks in advance.
I mean, you can plug the HDMI output of the ATEM MINI PRO into the Cam Link Pro to add more HDMI inputs to it and then switch both on your computer and the ATEM but that might get messy.
Because then you're having to juggle switching inputs in OBS/etc. from the cam link pro AND switching inputs on the atem mini pro, routed to one of the cam link inputs. just a lot to keep up with
so if I want to game on the same PC with full PCIE 4x16 bandwidth, Z590/X570 or next gen main stream desktop platform would not be enough with that card because of only 16 PCIE lanes for devices like that, right? (4 lanes seem to be Nvme SSD only on most boards it seems)... So instead of Z690 with a 12700k or so I should wait what intel 12th gen HEDT has to offer I guess to get all the PCIE bandwidth, or is there another way around with a current Z590 board with full x16 bandwidth + that card, which would also work with a similar Z690 board?
@@EposVox thx that's good news. So it seems like my favourite Asus Strix Z590-E and -F gaming have deleted PCIE x4 Ports, while Maximus Hero (expensive) and Tuf (less USB ports) have them. Will check also other brands then when Z690 comes to have that upgrade path open. in general it seems like these newer higher end boards have more nvme drive slots and less dedicated pcie x4 slots
Well, given 4 Camlinks on your PC can cause a lot of trouble among your USB devices, I’d say: Even if, for the most parts this is just 4 inputs, I’d use the heck out of this. To me, this card is simply not designed to be used for 4K capture. But then again, my stream setup would torture the heck out of my PC, if I did all of that in 4K. So I guess, I’m - for the most part - fine with 4:2:2 at 1080p60. Try to find 4K60 4:4:4 outputting cameras, let alone pay for them and you know why. I simply don’t view This CC as a 4K one. What’s slow, by the way, is the stream deck. I’ve struggling with it for the Year I have my stream deck now. 😅
Im wondering about the input lag when playing a console through the cam link pro, seeing as it does not have any pass through to connect to your monitor or TV, is the lag noticeable at all? Could you play games through it? The issue i have is that i have multiple game consoles that i stream game play from, i used to use a HDMI switcher connected to the consoles and inputting to elgato hd60plus, the issue is the ps5 does not like my splitter so now every time I change consoles I have to physically swap the HDMI cable going to the capture card, this has made cable management a nightmare coz i need easy access to the capture card, I was hoping the cam link pro would be my solution because of the multiple inputs but im concerned about the output or delay..
This looks amazing. Currently I'm running 2 USB capture cards and was going to get a 3rd, possible a single cam link ironically before I saw this which has got me considering this instead. I've got 1 question though and I'm wondering if your able to test it. Can the Cam Link Pro handle the signal being output from an OSSC? I play a lot of retro capture and my current capture cards handle the signal with no problem but I know some capture card really don't like it. Cheers for the video!
I hate to break it to you but the 4k60pro has the annoying black screen issues 24/7 and elgatos 4k capture utility is actual garbage. The capture card scene reminds me of the car audio scene.
I have multiple 4k60 pros in use and have never had that issue, nor have I ever seen it mentioned as a common issue like the cam link. 4KCU is pretty bad as I say all the time
@@EposVox Hmm I've tried multiple different cables. I guess I could have a dud of a card that would be dissapointing. My workaround if unplugging and plugging back in the hdmi cable in the 4k60 pro.

I run two instances of OBS and I can have my Avermedia capture card as a source on both, but I can't have my CamLink 4k, so instead I end up having to do virtual camera from one OBS instance over to the other one which isn't ideal.
In the video you shall peek, and find the answers you may seek.
@@EposVox LOL I swear I watched it when it dropped but I probably had it going while working and missed that part. Round 2 here we go
Oh hey, there it is! YAAASSS
Its going to be a problem if i use it simultaneous with a Magewell AIO 4K Plus capture card?
Will it work on a B450 board ?
I wish they had Mac support. Nicely done with the black RE20, by the way.
When I stream I play off of a monitoring window of my capture, but I'd like to not have to open obs to just play my switch
I didnt even hear about this when it launched lol, just finding out as I was checking the cam link prices on amazon just now. This is something i've been wanting for years. There have been alot of multi input cards on the market for years, but elgato just straight up has the best software and integrations for streaming. I may replace my HD60 pro card with this.
You can use it with 4K Capture Utility, I’m not sure about the old GCHD app. It’s not supported anymore so probably not
Looks like if you want to capture console gameplay (+ passthrough) you’d need a dedicated capture card plus this new cam link pro for multiple cameras + a motherboard (and PC setup) that can handle both + a streamdeck am I wrong? In this case what about plugging an ATEM Mini onto an AVerMedia Live Gamer Duo, wouldn’t this be cheaper and more capable (besides 4k resolution)? Thanks @eposvox for the good work, as always!
Hdmi splitters are cheap
@@EposVox yes but what if I want to play at, let’s say, 1080p120 with my shiny PS5? I mean the Cam Link Pro only supports 1080p60 right?
Correct. There’s no getting around that, but the ATEM mini won’t do it either
@@EposVox yes that’s why an ATEM Mini + AVerMedia Live Gamer Duo combo looks like the way to go at least for my case. Thanks a lot for taking the time to answer my comments!
Do you have the latency tested?
Will you try the new Intel igpu encoders vs older ones?
I would like a review of the amazing Minolta X-370 you snuck into this vid... let's expand the channel focus to retro film photography equipment reviews... what is free time?
IDK if that's just the shutter speed was too high of the A cam that you used to film this video from the beginning, the capture card or the PC that couldn't handle it but there are a lot of dropped frames, I was into the video for 5 sec and already noticed a lot of dropped frames, wanted to double check that if it is my browser but everything seemed fine on my end, watching @1440p.
Someone managed to comment while ignoring the pinned comment answering the very thing they were commenting on
@@EposVox 🤦♂️ didn't see that.
Is the latency more or less than the 4K60 Pro MK.2?
Thanks for this video! What about HDMI passthrough? If I wanted to connect two cameras and a console into OBS, can I still pass the console through to my TV?
There’s 4 inputs, no passthrough. Would need HDMI splitters
Have you tested the preview latency of this card?
I love it! Shout out to ElKitty for continuing to innovate and make high quality video production easier for the masses. 👐
Now, how do I justify purchasing this device? 🤔 So many possibilities.
Oh my god YES
Not possible to buy yet?
I have a Question, I'm doing this but with 2 Cam Link 4K for each cameras. Would the Cam Link Pro be a much more simpler solution? I only ask because I only have 2 camera's and the Pro has 4 inputs. Would it be simpler for me to get the Cam Link Pro to do the same thing as what I'm trying to Do with my Cam Link 4K?
Yep!
I've got an ATEM mini pro ISO. Is there any software that will let me do ISO recording like that does? I want to use OBS as doing clever stuff just seems easier in that.
i currently using 4k60 pro should i replace it with cam link pro? i all ready use my extra slot in my mobo for my 4k60 pro.
have you tried the magewell m.2 capture they come ion 2 input and 4 input also hdmi or sdi
Hi. Is there a latency from the camera at 1080 60? Is there a lag when capturing a game?
@EposVox, I think you mentioned using this to connect mobile phones as cameras. What method would you use to connect to the Cam Link Pro? I currently have one of my old phones connected, but it requires a USB connection with the Droidcam software and client. Do I just need to change the cable to a mini USB to HDMI one?
No XRGB? What's your take on this?
It’s a camera capture card and the majority of cameras anyone would use for streaming (or even filmmaking) won’t output 4:4:4 in the first place. Would be cool if it supported it, but non-issue IMO
@@EposVox thank you for the reply, I have a A7S2 outputting 10 bit 4:2:2 and I noticed better image quality on XRGB although the framerate seems like dropping. Not sure what it is, but since I'm not moving a lot it doesn't really happen ever. Any ideas?
Well there shouldn’t be any better quality over YUY2, given YUY2 is uncompressed 4:2:2
To capture my screen in the picture-in-picture mode, can the multiview do this on its own? Or would I need an hdmi splitter, or to do it using OBS?
I know it probably works just fine but how does it perform in linux?
Hi how does this work for game capture, do you still need one HDMI in and one HDMI out or does the game just play on your monitor from the PC ?
Has anyone tested this card for OSSC compatibility on it's different line multiplication modes? This card might be exactly what I need but really would like to know about OSSC compat. before spending 300+ on it just to find out it's a no go.
Thanks in advance for any info!
My question is can i use this for my capture device for a console and my cameras as well?
The video answers this question
@@EposVox yeah i asked super early, but i know im definitely getting one now.
Do you still have the same limitation as to the camlink 4k with compatible cameras? That is why I purchased the ATEM Mini.
Cam link 4K, and the Pro, both work with any HDMI signal that’s within spec (1080p30/60, 1440p30/60, 4k30 and lower)
If anything the Atem Mini supports less devices by not having 4K support.
Acasis Quad has a card but see one video review on it so far
Ordered one for review
what were those modular sliders from the overhead view?
Is there a cable add-on that I can attach to my USB cable of my Logitech C922 camera? So I can plug the webcams into these HDMI slots of this cam link pro. Need help; not very tech savvy). If there is such an add-on cable; a link would be cool...
*Should* be able to plug the Logitech into one of your USBs and have it show up in OBS or whatever you're using. This card is for DSLRs, camcorders, etc. that don't output video over USB.
@@CarltonGriffithPhoto Thankx, Carton.
Can you record all four streams at 4k30 to disk at the same time with this for editing later?
Yep
Does it do software encoding or Hardware encoding ? Is there any latency ? Is the PIP scaleable of fix size ? How does the Capture card PCIe affect the bandwidth of GPU PCIe ?
PiP is fixed as I showed. Card doesn’t do encoding, no modern card does and you don’t want it to
@@EposVox Thank you reply back. Also, I dont care about the 4k60 output, But not having a 4K60 input means it cannot be used with Xbox and PS with 4K TV, even with a splitter. That's a deal breaker for me.
Correct, I explained that lol
How can you use an Elgato Cam Link Pro with ATEM Mini Pro, or is it, one or the other?
I mean, you can plug the HDMI output of the ATEM MINI PRO into the Cam Link Pro to add more HDMI inputs to it and then switch both on your computer and the ATEM but that might get messy.
@@EposVox Messy, how? Thanks. You rock!
Most boards these days will also have a x4 slot run through the chipset and should be ok
Umm, edit?
Only your camera lenses are more worth than my whole room
This looks like the sort of tech I'd love an excuse to use but I have no need for it. Anyone wanna start a podcast? lol
Does this have 4k60 pass through?
Doesn't support 4k60 and doesn't have pass-through at all. as clearly covered in the video.
funny, that was 2021, the video felt like today/new.
anything on av1 ?
Does this card work with Linux?
No
But does it... bypass HDCP? ;)
No
@@EposVox dang. I gotta be picky with my all-GH2 setup. :P
Has anyone tried this device on Linux? Ubuntu to be specific?
Funny that Elgato dares to label anything they make "PRO".
Well then it’s likely not the card as those kinds of issues require the card to be reset if it’s at fault
@@EposVox hmm interesting only other thing I could easily think of would maybe be an issue with the capture card and first gen threadripper. It has persisted over multiple windows installs.
It could.also be in the wrong PCIe slot.
PCIe is all intended to be backward/forward compatible, but it may be a bandwidth issue.
Hmm
Take my money now lol
If my mum had seen your room... 😂🤣

Yes. $360 being right around the price of 4k single input capture cards and nearly half the price of the cheapest competitor on the market for its capabilities - that is the definition of an "affordable product" within the context of what you're buying.
