The guy with the fire alarm story at the $9000 baby shower should file a police report. They might not be able to prove it, but maybe they can with video cameras, etc. It costs money for the fire department to have to show up to things. If they CAN prove it, file a restraining order on the MIL. He is really awesome for standing up for his wife.

A few years back my son went to Disney land and a few other fun places with his grandparents. My mother in law wanted to come visit us the day my son was due home. ( he had been gone for 3 weeks ) I told her she was just here 3 months prior and I would appreciate it if she didn't come the same day our son was coming home from his trip. I missed him and wanted the whole day to hear all about his adventures. My mother in law proceeded to have all 3 of her daughters call me and cuss me out for not allowing her to visit. After that didn't end well.... she called my husband and told him to come move back home. Needless to say, he did not leave me to move back in with his mom. 😮 I was shook. This was 5 years ago and they have yet (, her or her daughters) to be welcomed to my home.

@donnac2851 it's not that she wanted to visit. It was the fact that she sent her daughters to curse me and then tried to convince my husband to leave me over it that made me so angry. She was here in February. Thus was in May and we literally go to the family reunion in July. It truly would have been fine and it's not like she never saw us. We regularly got together with them several times a year and phone every Sunday. But because she had the nerve to have her daughters call me and explaine how I'm terrible for " loving my son more then my mother in law " (, true I do ) and swear at me. Then to call and beg my husband to just divorce me if I'm " horrible " enough to ask him to make our kids a priority in their own lives. We can never see her again as long as I live for all I care. And before you say anything my husband agrees 100%. He still calls every Sunday. But when they ( mother in law or sisters in laws ) bring up the topic of a visit he shuts them down. Mabey if they would apologize it could be different. But they refuse. They say my kids are not important compared to them because my husband has been on thier lives longer then out kids lives. Ah.. ya... he created our kids... but you are entitled to your opinion. I would never treat my children's spouses with such disrespect.

This is disgusting. I don't care how much confusion or commotion there was surrounding this situation, the father's ("SOB") duty is to (1) his children, and (2) his wife. Nothing short of witnessing the wife commit cold-blooded murder should have compelled SOB to kick out his wife and infant child. Based on the facts and circumstances, I'm guessing there was history between the mother ("POS") and the wife, and if this is the case then SOB should have permitted POS to be anywhere near the wife during this time.
My wife had a relatively rough pregnancy (nothing life-threatening, but she was sick every day of her pregnancy until the very last week), but that didn't compare to what she went through for about 3 months postpartum. It was the happiest time of our lives, but at the same time she struggled so hard just to feel/act like herself. We've been married for 20 years, and it was the only time I felt protective over her, because it was the only time I ever doubted her ability to do so. It is absolutely incomprehensible to me how SOB could fail to protect his wife from his own mother during this time. His decision to ask his wife and infant child to leave just proves that he's an absolute scumbag.

So if you are breastfeeding and it being allowed to eat, isn’t that really dangerous for a woman’s health? Please educate me if I’m wrong but if it is, it’s awful to withhold food from someone who’s breastfeeding.

This reminded me of a story of a mother who took her daughter’s son while the daughter was recovering from serious health issues. She made the boy call her mom (she was his grandma) and her husband dad. When her daughter, the boy’s real mother, came to pick him up, he was confused and wasn’t allowed to go with her. It was messy, and sadly, the momster killed her own daughter to steal the boy because she couldn’t have kids anymore but her husband wanted to be a father. You should be really careful with your mil. My kids dad's mom used to tell my kids to call her "mama" the Spanish version of mom because she didn't like being called "grandma" and my first kid got confused so she would call her momma and call me by my first name. My kids dad would correct my daughter everytime she would call her "grandma" but not when she would call me by my first name even though I expressed that I did not want my child calling me by my first name and having her call her basically mom out in public. For reference I'm black and they are white so no one would have known I was her mother because my daughter looks just like her dad. It hurts me that he wouldn't stand up for me at all. She doesn't like us because I made my kids call her by her first name because she didn't want to find a middle ground. He blames me and I don't care. It was the first time I've ever stood up for myself in my life.

Growing up, there was a neighbor family who's tradition that the first born grandchild basically 'named' the grandparents. Which was explained to me after the confusion of being first introduced to 'Rangee' with a sound like ring, not ranger. So all the generations had these weird af names from the grandchildren, and it was weird, hilarious, and oddly wholesome.

Other commenters mentioned that account is satire, I'm inclined to believe that considering one cannot just walk into L&D without being let in and that would require others to risk their own licenses. One crazy person maybe, but someone letting her in and everyone else not noticing or caring that she wasn't from that unit is a huge stretch.

Before this, when I pointed out she left me no room in the kitchen for my stuff, she completely cleaned out the kitchen and drank and slept out in her car for 2 days. Then had the audacity to complain and say her living room (split level home), felt like a storage unit. I literally had 99 percent of my kitchen stuff boxed up under the stairs. On the nurse who used her credentials to get into the delivery room- why did the care team not throw her out?!?!?! How was she not fired over this?!?!?! They would have known at once that she didn’t belong.

@@hazeltulipMaybe... Maybe the sister really wanted to be there, but they didn't want her there. Maybe they changed their minds about the MIL being there last minute but didn't want the sister to know, lots of possibilities

Second story is infuriating! Not only is that a fireable offense but criminal behaivor. She faces jail time, paying a fine, and permanent loss of her nursing license. She wouldn't be able to obtain it in another state.

Absolutely beyond unprofessional. Although , I can't understand why the husband and or his wife didn't tell her to get the hell out! There's no way on earth I would've let her stay.

@@elenawilliams32 TBH as a three-time mom, her mind was on too much during that labor to deal with her mother-in-law. Hopefully It was the same for the husband. With my second, I was in labor for 43 hours. I was getting septic and I'm an ICU nurse. Yet I still didn't clock it because of everything that my body and mind was going through during labor. And the husband might have been too focused on his wife to deal with his mother as well.
Plus as a head nurse on a different unit, His mother had unusual power and sway in that room that another monster-in-law wouldn't have had. So her son may have felt like he couldn't have spoken up in that moment. All of that just compounds the reasons that this was such a violation of trust boundaries and professional boundaries. Literally criminal

@@heatherburnard1805 Jeez, I'm glad you got through such a tough birth! I'm a one time Mum, when I wasn't having contractions... She would've been told!
I understand that it was extra tricky if she was a unit manager for the staff there but like you mentioned... It's so wrong on multiple different levels.

Prince William called Queen Elizabeth "Gary" as a child because he couldn't say "granny". He once fell and scraped his knee and started crying for Gary. An employee asked the queen who Gary was and she replied, "oh, that's me. He can't say 'granny' yet." 😂

My doctor when I was going into labor told me to stop over exaggerating and being dramatic in the middle of each push. 😑😑
Also i breastfed exclusively for three years and it was not the most difficult thing I've done in my entire life. It was actually simple and I wasn't the type to whip it out in public, it was easy still to always be concealed and find a place. So no clue why some people make it seem hard.

The story about letting the grandparents choose their grandparent name. I'm so glad I didn't offer that when I was pregnant with my son lol. My son has always called his great grandma Nina because he couldn't say Nana and she's just gone with it so now it's stuck lol
