He didn't "not *bother*" to look her up...he didn't know how. And he was told never to contact her again, and he respected that. It was entirely on her to reach out to him and tell him she had his kid.
And from his reaction to the possibility of that girl being his child, he'd probably would have reached out a looong time ago if he knew how to use Facebook. He clearly was heartbroken after the forced separation, so he cared and still cares
She was under pressure from her parents to not contact him. Sometimes that pressure lasts into peoples adult years and it probably never occurred that her parents had no sway over her life by that point. Hopefully they figured it out and he got to meet his daughter

I hope the 50 year old man was able to make contact with his lost love and daughter. I feel like she never reached out because if he didn't know about facebook, he likely didn't really have any social media for her to be able to find him even if she wanted to. Remember that these two grew up during a time where the internet itself wasn't publicly available yet

This happened to friends of my grandparents! Apparently, in their old age after each was widowed, they met each other again. Turns out, the woman’s mom had stolen all his letters to her, because she never got them. They ended up finally getting married, in their 70’s. 😍🥰
I watched a video where this soldier fell in love with a girl in France but had to go home after WWII. He went back to France for a reunion fifty years later. She showed up at the reunion. They were both widowed. He ledt her there again but she came to the US and they lived their twiight years together.

That was my first thoughts about it. Then I started wondering about other details. He was “in his 50’s” thirty years later. That would put him in his 20’s when he impregnated a girl who followed her parent’s orders. That part of the story lacks a lot of detail. Something tells me she wasn’t in her 20’s, as well. The question might be -how young was she?
30 years is a long time to follow parental wishes that don’t reflect any of her own feelings.

The girl Kirby who told the story of the guy doing business with her boyfriend trying to sabotage their relationship is dating a very attractive musician and singer in a band. I forget the name. It looks like the guy she was talking about is some record company big wig, and was trying to control the lives of their musicians. Good for her for setting boundaries, AND for telling the world about it.

As someone who works in the industry, it’s ultra common for dads in cps cases/dependency court to attempt to have kids removed from the mom. I’ve heard “they’d be better off in foster care” more times than I can count from deadbeat dads who’d never be able to get placement themselves. Be careful who you make people with, ladies.
Most men care more about "winning" than they do about their kids.
That last sentence is the crux of it all.
Every single father who has unfair or "unfair" relationships with their children and/or their mother, out. That one big, toxic clump of bias hurts everybody. Vice versa with the genders reversed or whatever the genders the f you like.
Ay, it's pretty complicated. But if only we could have such a rule, imagine the difference in j u s t i c e there would be.
That last sentence is usually irrelevant, since a lot of these guys pretend to be completely different people until you’re already pregnant. Then the true colors come from under the mask, manipulators/narcissists/liars exist.

We've gotten _way_ too used to having easy access to information.The older guy in the bar comes from a world where the only ways to find someone was to meet someone who knows the person in question, to run into the person themselves, or perhaps to ask neighbors or the new homeowners if they have the new address of said person. If you had a vague idea where they were, you could call the county register for that area and make some inquiries that way, but... not much you could realistically do.
It's so interesting to see the divide between the generations that grew up with the internet and technological connection vs. those who were introduced to those tools late in life and don't fully understand the potential behind them.

@@CrAzYiNsAnEBaRbiE1987many do chose to adapt but it’s a way of thinking that’s almost impossible to change. If I grew up during that time then I probably wouldn’t assume finding someone would be that easy. Like I would kind of know but not automatically or as intuitively as I actually do.
Also your brain changes as you age. Learning and adapting aren’t as easy or automatic as when you’re younger and a lot of older people have had high exposure to lead, arsenic, even radioactive heirloom dishes. That definitely affects the way the brain learns.

There is plenty of real complaints of older generations, like the world they left us but having trouble learning a whole new way of living and thinking in a way that no other generation in the whole of human history had to do? Of this 30 years, about 20 were before Facebook (or more) and you start to believe that it must have been their own decision as well. Maybe her parents even DID brainwash her into believing it was.
You lose your believe, ask yourself what might be wrong with you… then get depressed to a point where only bartender therapy is left for you (every bartender has stories like that, slow nights and a lonely person with an alcohol loosened tongue)

My husband has a daughter with an ex. Trust me, it isn't worth it. The daughter hates me because I dared to lay down some ground rules in my own house, and the ex is trying to financially ruin us both. Stay away from the baby mamas!
Edit for clarification: His daughter is 20, but acts like she's five (with tantrums and everything).
In this situation he did that intentionally to mess up her plans. He thought that by not answering her she wasn't going to be able to go and when he found out that she was still able to go and she told him about the kids being alone. That was his perfect opportunity to hurt her again and he thought it was going to end her plans to go on her trip. He did that intentionally to hurt her. It wasn't even about the kids. He didn't even think about the fact that they wouldn't give the kids to him. These toxic men are something else 🤬

Re the woman whose ex called the police about his “abandoned” children-She should ONLY communicate with him via e-mail or other written methods. Have a paper trail of incidents like this, in which she’d reached out to him repeatedly for MONTHS about taking the kids while she was away, without any response from him. Very valuable for any future legal confrontations.
And also preemptively call the police before going on a trip.

I had a super toxic mother too and i hope one day the girl with delulu mother finds the strenght to set stronger boundaries or cut her out because that stress ruins your life. This is not just quirky cray cray behavior.
My mother is exactly like this, diagnosed narcissist by the way (oh so shocking.) Thinks everything is owed to her, had a favorite child (my brother) while also actively treating me like property.
It got worse as she got older but when it made me think and dig through my memories i realized she'd always been that way, it just wasn't as obvious until i was an adult.
-Every time i would get anything nice, she'd decide she either needed it more than me or it was more her style or anything along the lines of "this should be mine not yours" she also told me a lot about her dream to own lots of land so she could have her house and my house built next to each other so i'd never need to move away from her.
-When i moved to Sweden with my boyfriend, she started talking about moving not only to Sweden, but to the the exact, small, isolated location i moved to. (failed anyway. Immigrating to another country is not that simple, surprise surprise.)
-She also would insert herself in all my plans, she ruinned so many things because i could not spend time with anyone or do anything, or even have a job without her trying to have a hand in it. It ranged from trying to get hired at my work places to straight up going to my employers to tell them she didn't like my schedule because it was inconvenient for her and demanding they change it for what SHE wanted for me. (i was 22 at the time btw. My schedule literally didn't affect her she just wanted to control my life, as usual.)
-She'd throw in her health a lot too. "I haven't felt happy in weeks" "i have a problem with my knee" or even a vague "i have to go to the hospital again in 2 weeks" it was always something. Anything to keep to conversation about her.
-She also had that weird trait of trying to shove her sex life out in the open for everyone to hear, she'd always been like that, she loved telling me about how good her new husband was. (Yes it made me want to rip my skin off every time)
-And also sent random guys my way that would be "perfect for me".
And i tried so hard, for so long, to keep a relationship with my mother until i realized i did not need that kind of stress in my life. Nothing was every good enough for her, anything i told her about myself or anyone i knew, she had to give her unsolicited advice about it and what SHE would have done because she knew better than everyone and was smarter than everyone and would do so much better than everyone.
Honestly, cutting her out of my life and going no contact was painful for sure but it turned out to be the best thing i ever did for my mental health. I never realized just how bad it was until i didn't have to deal with it anymore and EVERYTHING in my life improved as a result.
That's not just delulu, that's literally textbook signs of narcissism. To want to be everywhere, replace everyone around you, to control everything, to make everything about them.

I wanted to jump through my screen at the baby daddy who reported that there were "children abandoned" to the police after she had let him know he could spend more time with them while she was on her trip. The AUDACITY. I'm so angry for that woman, and this probably happened a while ago. And I will remain angry for a good amount of time.
It also might’ve been scary for the kids to talk to police officers, especially when they’re alone at home without their parents. He not only did it out of spite to his ex, but he could’ve scared the children and had them deal with worse consequences

Like Judge Judy says, you should love your kids way more than you hate your ex. The fact that this garbage human called the police to her house, and put his own children through totally unnecessary stress and upset, (just because he was jealous and too immature to communicate effectively with her) is beyond infuriating. These aren’t pet goldfish-dude, this woman has been asking you for months about taking care of human children…YOUR human children. That ish is complex; you can’t just wait until *past* the literal last minute to contact your ex about caring for 2 whole ass kids. It’s not like he can just throw some flakes in a fish-tank and call it good. These children have got entire lives, schedules, and needs they don’t deserve to have chaotically upended. And if he cared so much about their welfare, to call the police on their mom, he should have immediately made sure he was there as their *father* to care for them personally and make sure that they were cared for in a way that he felt was proper. Considering the TWO ankle monitors and house arrest, it’s not like he had to clear his busy schedule of plans other than scratching his sack while watching TV.

I raised my second cousin. Her bio mom used to call police and dcs on me all the time! Of course, they never found anything wrong but I'd have to miss work, she'd have to miss school, and it was a huge inconvenience. I'm thankful children services were doing their job, but they shouldn't be able to make so many false accusations without consequences.
Omg people who make false claims should bare some kind of penalty.
@@kyliedee6079 I think the issue with penalties for false claims is that often in legitimate abuse cases a massive file of reports will build up before they find something. The Franke case is a good example. Lots of people seem to have called, but it took the kid escaping for action to be taken.
@@tiryaclearsong421there’s a difference between multiple, unrelated people calling and one person calling repeatedly. There should be, not a penalty per se but a forced priority ranking based on the number of times you have called, with zero results, as in 3 or more, you move to the back of the line. I know they are putting the child first but does it really behoove the kid to have a toxic adult using them as a pawn?

I know two people who found each other again as adults after their parents pulled that kind of thing. Like literally picked up and moved to another state to keep them apart. One had a baby the other didn't. Both times they told the daughter that he didn't want to ever see her again so they just accepted that

@JessaLynnC in order for her to have passed her 30th birthday, he would have seen the girlfriend later on her pregnancy. This looks more like she found out she was pregnant maybe a month or two into the pregnancy, then her parents cut ties with him, and she would have had the baby a while later, and therefore not have been 30 yet by the time this guy was mourning the 30-year anniversary of the loss of the love of his life.

I was "The one that got away" for my HS sweetheart. We were engaged to be married when he got cold feet and broke off the wedding. Runaway groom. Fast forward 23 years, and I get a FB request from a man I do not know in Arizona. Turns out my ex worked on a railroad in the middle of nowhere, and his coworker would spend their days hearing about me. My ex was planning to hire a private investigater to track me down when his coworker says, did you try Facebook? Long story short, we eventually made contact, he tried to pay my parents back for the wedding he ran away from. We've been married 6 years now.
He left as a boy and came back a man. Congrats on your happy ending!

Second, you can go all in and try to make it work with someone new even if you still care about someone from your past. If you think there’s never a chance then you try your best to move on. The human heart is limitless. So all those people that get left by someone they still love should never try again? Once I love someone I will always love them. Even if I know it’s never gonna work and move on, I’m just that type of person
Or is it because they ended up getting back together? Like he could have predicted that. It also doesn’t mean he used anyone. It doesn’t mean he participated in these relationships in bad faith. It just means he never found someone that he could make it work either and then fell in love again when he got in contact to pay her parents back and catch up. My parents first tested the waters leaving me alone for two hours when they went to the grocery store when I was 10.😂 By the time I was 16, I was trusted enough to be alone if they went away for an overnight thing. Not only that, but I was also trusted to look after family members little kids in similar circumstances. I know not every kid or family is the same but this extreme supervision is getting to be ridiculous.
I literally took care of a two year old and a four year old overnight at 14 for pay while their mom had a baby. I remember thinking I was so cool because I got to stay the night out like that four houses down from my own. 🤣😭

To clarify things for younglings in the audience, pre-cellphones phone time was strictly rationed in some households. In many homes kids were not allowed to make a single phone call without asking permission. Depending on the girls age there may have been several years where she was still living under her parents control. Police were wicked pissed when they realized my kids 14… and told me that they would be in touch with him to let him know that this is not what welfare checks are for😂 Wicked stressful though
I fully anticipate this with my oldest son’s father. Despite him being in FAMILY LAW, when it comes to his own son he will do whatever he wants to make sure my husband and I can’t make decisions for my son and it’s so aggravating. He uses his law degree to file ridiculous motions and papers all the time to make me look like a bad and negligent mother. As if the dude didn’t quit his job when I told him I was pregnant so he didn’t have to pay child support.

Story about the kids alone… my mom called the police one night when I was 12 to ask what age kids could be home alone, bc they had a gig to play and my little siblings were there, I was there with my brother and my best friend. Cops said it varies depending on the kid but there’s no REAL number or age. It just depends on the maturity of the child and if they’re capable of making reasonable decisions in emergencies and such.
an hour is NOTHING! ever heard of a latchkey kid? hell we used to literally be outside with a waterhose, sticks, a few broken toys, and bicycles from 4pm to sundown. we came in when the streetlights came on. gimme a break.

So I definitely think there is some jealousy going on were the guy likes her boyfriend. There is for sure some projection of his anger going on that he is placing on her because he isn’t getting the ‘respect’ he “deserves" or the ‘attention’ he “deserves”.

I had a coworker who had a very petty ex. They were going to Disney Paris with the grandparents from the dad for their wedding anniversary. His ex-wife said is was fine, until the day of the trip. She called the cops on the father, claiming he was abusive and was about to abduct her children abroad.
The first story reminded me of one of my own😝
My first job I worked at a movie theater and was there for about 2 months. One day a manager was showing new people who might potentially work with us around the place and I was about to go on my break when he stopped me and asked if I had proper shoes on (I did of course) but the entire time me and this one guy from the group kept starring at each other . He was one of the people who got hired on and a different manager could tell that he and I were talking more and hanging outside of work . This manager pulls me aside one day and tells me that they think I should not be hanging around my coworker and a bad influence, blah ,blah, blah. Not long after we were both let go from there & got new jobs . About 10 years of being together later we now are married , have an amazing son and 2 dogs . Our old managers still work at that theater and every chance we get to go back to that theater we do and talk about how amazing our life together is . 😏

My (F64) son (M37) have had a running joke for ages about sharing a home. When he was about 10, I told him that when I'm old and feeble I'd like him to support me in a manner to which I'd like to become accustomed. His response? "I don't have to LIVE with you, do I?" I told him no, but he could come for dinner every so often and he could do his laundry at my place if he paid my bills. 😂 Boundaries are important and apparently he and I understand them.

The shared custody to avoid child support happened to me too! This was nearly 15 years ago now but my ex insisted on shared custody so he didn't have to pay child support, then moved out of state. He's seen our son about once a year for 15 years (my son is 16) and I've never gotten a dime. Some people are fkn slimeballs but sometimes we don't know until we have kids 🙃

I think people forget that he did everything he could to get in contact with her, and got nothing. He couldn't even be sure she wanted to see him again. If SHE wanted to, she could have looked HIM up when she got out from underneath her parent's control. The ball was in her court all that time, and the fact that he didn't hear from her was evidence enough she wasn't interrested (at least to him).

I used to tell my ex the time when I’d be home or can’t give him the children. (Because of appointments, work etc.)He’d ALWAYS drop them off when I’m not home yet from work or at an appointment for them or myself. He would call police and tell them he’s dropping them off ALONE or there to pick them up as court ordered (this happened 3 times) so I’d park at neighbors he’d call police and notify them he’s not leaving them at an empty house, because he didn’t see my vehicle in driveway. After 4 times of doing this they filed false reports charges for wasting their time. He never got out of the car to knock or let the children use their keys to get in. I was actually in the house getting just got out of the shower when the police came and he said when I came out what are you doing here. I live here, was my answer. And then when I’d take him to court for nonpayment of child support he would bring up I’m never home, he has police reports. I showed the police reports of him wasting their time and his charges for filing false reports. And the months he never bothered with them. (Living in next town 10minutes away)He said in court on record he had a “new life and didn’t have time!”
Can confirm, your parents change after they retire 😂 My dad retired a couple years ago and we spend a lot more time with him and he's like a whole different person. Love him, though, and definitely appreciating the extra time with him.

I have 4 grown children and 7 grandchildren. I've been retired full-time for 8 yrs. Not once have I obsessed over contact with them. They have full and busy lives and I remember raising children and how busy it is with full-time work so I respect their time.
Same. I'm glad my children have independent lives. My sister thinks it's crazy that I never see my kids and grandkids. She on the other hand is practically raising her grandkids. I'm the oldest of eight and had four kids young. I'm quite happy with my life the way it is!

The kirby story reminds me how this guy came to my elementary school to do a puppet show of kids fables (it was the 90's, and honestly, it was awesome) and I still remember the fable about the boy who would be mayor of this town if everyone in the town liked him.
So he went around trying to make everyone like him, but this ONE guy just didn't. He kept bringing him gifts, kept doing nice things for him, and eventually just asked "Why?! Why don't you like me?" The man said, "Because I don't have to. I don't hate you. I don't know you. You spend all your time making people like you that I don't know who YOU are." The boy learned that you can't make people like you and there was some part of the story that talked about needing to like yourself first....
Again, it was a puppet show from the 90's- but here I am like 20+ years later remembering that so...🤷♀ All to say, you aren't required to follow people back, to interact, or to like anyone just because. Also he wanted your man 1000%
