What's in a name? A whole lot, if you're a serious collector or fan of stylish vintage and antiques! We do a lot of name dropping in this video, showing you some of the better names we're finding in the winter antique show circuit, and talking about what makes them special--and why they're getting harder to find every day.
This one's a feast for the eyes, whether your eye goes to fab 50's furniture, antique silver, vivid wall art or sparkling signed jewelry. Bejeweled boxes, Pucci boots, Italian furnishings and designer pottery pieces are the order of the day here, with a lot of wonderful things packed into a tremendous antique show in West palm Beach, Florida!
We spend time helping you discern good old pieces from fakes, present a mystery piece we're trying to understand and talk extensively with a high-end costume jewelry dealer about why those pieces are disappearing from American antique shops. We hope this delightful array of items will help whet your appetite for good vintage design...maybe we'll get to see you at our next antique show!
Here's some of the great designer items we encounter on our shop-along:
Heywood-Wakefield table, Piretti chairs, Eames style chair, TI-99 computer, 1970s pedestal tv, horse measure, chimney sweep, iron hitching post, cast iron banks, Peter Max World Cup Soccer poster, Blenko decanter, Jonathan Adler pot, Roseville bud vases, Carol Staub acrylic art, butterfly wing table, Lucite table, Polaroid 330, Zippo lighters, French crest bracelet, Fiesta Lilac trivet, Red Wing console bowl, signed designer jewelry, signed fashion jewelry, bakelite and copper jewelry, cameos, dresser boxes, gilded metal boudoir accessories, dresser mirrors, Lucite purses, mesh purses, Rookwood tile, figural match striker, Niloak ewer, silver overlay glass, thimbles, Snoopy/Woodstock phone, Cowboy radio, Gibson Girl postcard set, Rembrandt candlestick, perpetual calendar, Heisey Chanticleer cocktail shaker, Tiffany sterling, WWI bonds poster, grain linen, barkcloth, etc.

Those little tiny keys are skeleton lock blockers. They kept others from being able to use their key in your lock or peek through.
Thank you! That is good info
so cool!
The "little keys" are VINTAGE WATCHMAKERS LATHE TOOL JACOT DOGS ARBOURS BOW TYPE perhaps E FILIUS BERLIN but I couldn't tell from the video.
How in the world 🌎 do you remember so much about sooo many things, countries, cultures, and back stories!!!❤ love your videos! I'm binge watching!❤😊
I think it just comes from so many years of experience living and breathing this stuff!
He really is an amazing man, kind, polite and the best go to guy ever.
Proud to live in Rhode Island and to have been a part of all this working in places like Trifari, Coro, as a hand painter linker, and epoxy painter
That is really cool! I just saw your comment. I've spoken to a few other people who worked in the industry and it was different than I imagined
@@TheAntiqueNomad It was the best time of my life. Being paid to color beautiful jewelry all day!
I have boxes and boxes of vintage costume jewelry. It's my passion!
Thank you for sharing. I just love to see all the old beauties.
Oh be still my heart all was wonderful but that was the best collection of Costume Jewelry I have every seen Thank you George you were a wonderful guide with excellent commentary.
I didn't want this video to end.
I could have easily gone crazy spending at this amazing show.
Mahalo George. 😍
SAME!!!!
Hi George. I am a subscriber and have enjoyed this video more than words can say! I am 70, so I can appreciate all the vintage jewelry, mine as well as my mother's which I got being an only child! Thank you for the detailed history you gave of all the pieces. I have several pieces of Kenneth J. Lane's jewelry and love them. I also have a large collection of vintage parures of pins, necklaces and earrings, most of which are signed. These days, due to illness, I only go out when I visit my doctors so I don'w wear any of it anymore. I am a collector at heart and have SO much of everything...I also collect Lladro, Cloisonne, oh, I could go on forever naming all my collections. My husband says that if I die before he does he is going to sell everything at $1.00 each and at the end of the sale he will have become a millionaire! He thinks he is being funny, but he is really not far off...LOL! Keep up the good work and keep your magnificent videos coming.
So many of my favorite things in this episode! Oh the barkcloth! My mother bought a brand new Pontiac Chiefton in 1955. My aunt who was a seamstress would make a set of seat covers front and back, out of bark cloth! There was a new set every 3-4 years, always bark cloth that my aunt would pull out of one of her many boxes. We had the best dressed car around!
It's such an amazing show and it was fun to show the great stuff there! I love bark cloth.
I just inherited a 1960's Hilo Hattie Hawaiian dress made of barkcloth! I didn't even know what barkcloth was until now, but I'm excited to see what the dress sells for. It's beautiful. ❤
I am so glad I found you through the crazy lamp lady. I have learned so much from your video.
I'm so glad!
Those pins were to DIE for. Gorgeous!
Hi I've been wearing brooches for years hoping to bring them back. I'm so happy when I see them out in the wild.
I think they're great and I"m glad to see renewed interest!
I thought I had a large collection of brooches but this had me drooling. Absolutely stunning. The other thing I always think is that brooches don't get in the way when preparing food like rings and bracelets do. 🙂
True enough, I hadn't thought of that!
@@TheAntiqueNomad I know historically they have always been worn on outer garments but sometimes a pretty brooch can liven up an otherwise plain sweater. I have to take some of my bracelets or bangles off when doing certain tasks, as they get in the way.
I am in the "bracelets are too big/ I love brooches" category. I love antique and vintage, all my life. I loved my great-grandmother's style.
I was drooling over the costume jewelry and those jeweled boxes!
I love Schiaparelli - those jewelry pieces made my brain explode! George, this video strongly reminded me where my passions lie. Thx!
Liked this video? NO, LOVED IT! George, you do narrate your videos so interestingly, thank you for ALL the Great Coverage of antiques, some of which I would Never have found the least bit interesting, but Now...!!!
As I try to part with items collected over many decades, which is a sad part of retirement I now want to start over! Even if I can't acquire many more antiques, I can certainly follow your wanderings & drool! Thanks for taking me on these Fabulous Wanderings with You!
You have such a fun show it’s interesting to look at but at the end you Realize you’ve learned so much you are very educational , your like a encyclopedia LOL
Thanks for highlighting the vintage fabrics, something I am really finding an appreciation for the older patterns and colors of fabrics.
Me too!
I didn't see any poppet beads in all that jewelry. 😄That's OK, I have my own right here in my home. I love the old brooches
and ones I have a couple old ones, but nothing with stones. I look for the old metal ones in different colors, so I can pin one on my little Vera Bradley purses. I walked into a Vera Bradley store one day and all the girls working there went crazy because I had a lime green flower pin on my purse to bring out the colors. They were all saying they wanted to find some too. I also have my mother's leather autograph book from her high school and what a riot it is to read the autographs. I wish I were closer to you so you could look at some of my things. I actually do have poppet beads that I have had since childhood. I am 77, so that gives you an idea of how long I have had them.
Im so happy i found your channel thanl you for sharing. learning so much!
I am stupified 😲. Other than my own collection, I have never seen this much in one place. What an absolute delight. Thank you.
Oh George this was fabulous! My grandmother and great - grandmother were supremely stylish ladies who wore the kinds of jewelry you filmed. It was a lovely nod back for me as I adored them. And all the fabric! Oh my. I hope you have a part ll!
Thank you George.
Howmuch for Peter Max
oh wow thank you for showing that jewelry
My pleasure 😊
I just found your channel. Being a dealer, I appreciate your comments and what to look for.
I love this video, a tour of beautiful things with a voice reminiscent of Fred Rogers leading us through it all, so calming and informative and exciting and interesting, too!
Thank you for sharing I love this 💕
I'm drawn to brooches , I would love to see then make a comeback
They’re starting to do!
Check out Lady C Campbell.
what a fabulous video George.
The jewelry displays are so fascinating. It's an awe seeing actual book pieces in the wild. I enjoy listening to jewelry history because it's truly amazing. GREAT VIDEO AND GREAT CONTENT. THUMBS-UP ALWAYS!!!!!!
Love Big Flashy Brooches!
I just want to be that man with the jewelry. I would wear a new piece every day!! How beautiful 💕
Love my vintage jewelry from my grandmother and mom, especially the pins!!!!!
I just learned some new names to watch for when it comes to costume jewelry
Great stuff!!
Absolutely love these type of videos! Always learn so much. Shows are always so busy when open. Can’t beat a personal tour filled with lots of information and tips. Thank you George!
I always learn so much from you, thanks so much. I shared this video with a friend who uses costume jewelry to make fun art pieces.
I think the box is a clock maker key set. Because they make all different size clocks.
I thought maybe timepiece related as well
I believe that also!
@@TheAntiqueNomad don't know why but automatically thought of a connection with clock making.🙂
I too automatically thought clock maker set. Great Minds and all that !!
Was that a real seahorse next to the key box? If so, it’s the biggest one I’ve ever seen. 💚💚💚
The jewelry was gorgeous and beautifully displayed. Really drew the eye in.
Thank you for focusing on the costume jewelry. Love it!
I adored seeing the vintage barkcloth 😃 Thank you!
Thank you George! Loved this!
Excellent!!
Thank you! Cheers!
I thank you for letting us walk with you through the fabulous antiques and jewelry!!❤️
So glad you could join us!
Thank you again for sharing! Especially, vintage fashion jewelry designers and incredible fine silver pieces!
Oh, thanks for the fun. My partner and I sold at that show for several years, and always enjoyed it. Also, so much fun to see our friend Brett! Hi Brett, we miss you in Chicago! (Sally and Ronnie) PS - Margaret with the beautiful linens. We set up next to her a couple of times, such a nice lady - I bought a few things from her as well. Again, thanks, we really enjoyed this.
Wonderful tour of great pieces of gorgeous vintage jewelry! Thank you for a great show! And I love the fabrics, what an amazing assortment.
Came for the jewelry and loved it. What a fabulous collection your friend has!
oh my gosh, that jewelry is crazy gorgeous. I love love love looking at all the pieces. George you have so much knowledge about everything and I appreciate the fact that you are always willing to learn more and to teach us. thanks!
We used those little tiny cardboard or plastic drawer organizers as earring separators when we were preteens for our little stud earrings, right after we got our ears pierced. I think the local earring store and Woolworths sold them for such a purpose.
What a great show, thank you George!
Omg - I want to jump on a plane to go and visit Sue’s booth - my heart was racing! All the things I love 🥰
I'd LOVE to have that Garfield (21:47), just because I am a Garfield fan! I have Garfield slippers, socks, cups, decorator plates for shelf/wall & etc! And thank you for showing that material! It took me back to my childhood! My mom did a lot of sewing & I remember seeing so many of those designs while growing up! Also enjoyed the vintage jewelry! Can't seem to find any where I live!
I’ve always wear broaches on the lapel of my blazers. I have quite a few very old ones.
You helped me at the Crazy Lamp Lady’s meet and greet. I had the very nice Puzzle Bottle. Thank you for your help.
That was such a fun piece to see! I'm so glad you brought it. I like seeing brooches making a comeback
Oh my gosh! All that beautiful jewelry, just wonderful! Thanks for show us so much.
Thanks for watching!
OH SO MUCH RESPECT for that jewelry collection!
Great variation in this video. Something for everyone. I loved the Jewelry and the old Fabrics. 100% fabulous.

I love it, "bringing back the brooch"! I've been wearing
and enjoying them for years; have my grandmother's and my mothers. I also collect Willie Woo brooches. I'm happy to see people are enjoying vintage jewelry again. I enjoyed your video thank you, just subscribed.
Hi George! I discovered you on RUclips about a week ago during a bout of insomnia and then low and behold saw you with Kat The Nurse Flipper!
The video of this show in Florida was simply amazing and I took copious notes. Thank you so much!
Many Blessings
Blessings
That's great! I hope you're sleeping but stay up with me anytime lol
I try to do this kind of content whenever possible
This was an incredible video! Thank you!
Oh I love the vintage fabrics! 😍
So good, yes!
I just was so intrigued by many different items! I will watch many more times to try to absorb the information! Thanks for the education!
You're so welcome! I try to do this sort of content often
Oh George! I've loved everything you've brought to us but this day!!
I have been sitting in my drive, gobsmacked by the beauty you showed us.
At one point, I realized I'd been holding my breath! Another, I found myself verclempt, moved to tears by these gorgeous, delicious, phenomenal brooches.
I've worn them everyday of my 35 year career, all thrifted & I have some beautiful ones but I've tended to be drawn to the fun & funky ones, the bigger the better. Since retirement, I've began to use them in decorating, placing them in strategic places, crafting with some, framing others in small vintage frames, placing them in small bottles, vases, jars~esp the tremblers & the bigger bling.
But nothing I've seen compares with the staggering beauty you showed.
Ok, watched it twice thru, I'm freezing. I'll be watching it again, trying to absorb the info you are sharing.
I recently told my fav resellers I will only buy 4" & above to try to limit my buying. At first it was met with disbelief, but Jeana, Trisha & others have met that challenge a tad too well, LOL.
I thank you for this gift.
That’s so great! I love to hear that people find new life for their old collections. They really are such beautifully crafted little sculptures
Wow George, that was amazing! That multi colored bake lite necklace @ 15:44 brought back memories of one similar to one my mom had w/ a pineapple on it that tied w/ a leather strand. She wore that in the 70s, i believe. She also liked brooches in her latter yrs. Thanks for another pleasant antiqucational & vintage stroll down memory lane! That place was quite lively & seemed to be doing great business. Hopefully you had a profitable time there!
It was so much fun! All the Florida shows were great for me this season.
The jewelry segment was the bomb! Absolutely gorgeous. Thanks for sharing. Hope you are doing well.
It sure was incredible! I'm doing great and thanks!
I would be in SO much trouble with all of that jewelry. It's all so beautiful!
Great video. Thanks for posting.
I’m love broaches. I’ve bought several, lately. But I’ve always loved a nice pin on my coat.
You know so much and so generous with your knowledge. Originally from FL. Miss it.

Wasn't that interesting? He has the most amazing stuff!
So educational-I really enjoyed this video, and I took notes and learned so much.
So informative.Thanks for sharing.
Wow! I have been collecting brooches for 40 years and was considering getting rid of them …. Perhaps I should hang on to them .Most of mine are from 1960- 1980s
If I was RICH, and had a BIG house. I would customize a wall or a couple of places with a collection of these!
Oh George. You made my day. This was so fun!!
I'm glad! Thanks
Thanks!
Aww gee, thank you so much! That was really gracious of you. I hope you make many times that with some piece of info you heard
I found you threw Kat the nurse flipper….. i’ve been selling on eBay now for three years supporting my family and for kids…. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us!!!
Be blessed!
That's terrific! I'm so excited that people are finding ways to make a living doing this like I have.
You are a vault of information. Thank you.
Great video George! Thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Those big showy deco-esque animals always remind me of Joey from Friends with his greyhound
Lol that's right
Thank you for all the great information and the fun tour.
Thank you! Hope things are thawing in Spokane
Interesting things, liked learning about them from you !
Great fun and very informative.
Thanks for this - George! :D
My 1st time watching..how FABULOUS.. I Love all this Jewelry..looks like I couldn't afford it.. Yet, Very Pretty..I appreciate All your Knowledge!! 🙏🙏🙏🤟
Well thank you! I try to show lots of different things
Love the Eisenberg brooches! And I had that Snoopy phone!
Good evening, George! Yea!!! The chimney sweep!!! I'm looking forward to hearing from you on that. Love the hitching post. I've always wanted one from New Orleans, but there are hefty fines for getting one of those, now. That butterfly table was interesting, but it seemed a strange juxtaposition with the nautical themed setting. There was an orchid brooch, below the Monet piece, that caught my eye. There was a dagger brooch that I liked, too. Loved the jeweled boxes. I liked that candle holder with the palette. With me being an artist, that one really interested me. I've always wanted a tatting shuttle, but I've never owned one. The kind I would like to have...well, they can't be sold easily. Great show!!! Thanks for the tour!!!
I think I found a proper box so will process ASAP! The orchid brooch caught my eye too, I know there were a lot of great pieces but those were a very different design. I could own that era of jeweled boxes, I had fun contrasting it to the 1960s gold dresser pieces. A friend of mine gave me tatting shuttles back when she made them for reproducing christening gowns for the museums, but alas, I cannot sew a button. Butterflies in nautical, yes it's a little odd!
What a great show ! So much fun
It sure is!
What a wonderful video. You are so genius..............thank you. First time viewer.
OOOH those pink lucite chairs! Totally would have bought them, scratches on seat are easily covered with pretty cushions
I completely enjoyed this video Thank you
Loved this video, you are so knowledgeable about a wide variety of things.
Thanks so much!
