Hi George. I am a subscriber and have enjoyed this video more than words can say! I am 70, so I can appreciate all the vintage jewelry, mine as well as my mother's which I got being an only child! Thank you for the detailed history you gave of all the pieces. I have several pieces of Kenneth J. Lane's jewelry and love them. I also have a large collection of vintage parures of pins, necklaces and earrings, most of which are signed. These days, due to illness, I only go out when I visit my doctors so I don'w wear any of it anymore. I am a collector at heart and have SO much of everything...I also collect Lladro, Cloisonne, oh, I could go on forever naming all my collections. My husband says that if I die before he does he is going to sell everything at $1.00 each and at the end of the sale he will have become a millionaire! He thinks he is being funny, but he is really not far off...LOL! Keep up the good work and keep your magnificent videos coming.
Oh be still my heart all was wonderful but that was the best collection of Costume Jewelry I have every seen Thank you George you were a wonderful guide with excellent commentary.
Liked this video? NO, LOVED IT! George, you do narrate your videos so interestingly, thank you for ALL the Great Coverage of antiques, some of which I would Never have found the least bit interesting, but Now...!!! As I try to part with items collected over many decades, which is a sad part of retirement I now want to start over! Even if I can't acquire many more antiques, I can certainly follow your wanderings & drool! Thanks for taking me on these Fabulous Wanderings with You!
So many of my favorite things in this episode! Oh the barkcloth! My mother bought a brand new Pontiac Chiefton in 1955. My aunt who was a seamstress would make a set of seat covers front and back, out of bark cloth! There was a new set every 3-4 years, always bark cloth that my aunt would pull out of one of her many boxes. We had the best dressed car around!
I just inherited a 1960's Hilo Hattie Hawaiian dress made of barkcloth! I didn't even know what barkcloth was until now, but I'm excited to see what the dress sells for. It's beautiful. ❤
I didn't see any poppet beads in all that jewelry. 😄That's OK, I have my own right here in my home. I love the old brooches and ones I have a couple old ones, but nothing with stones. I look for the old metal ones in different colors, so I can pin one on my little Vera Bradley purses. I walked into a Vera Bradley store one day and all the girls working there went crazy because I had a lime green flower pin on my purse to bring out the colors. They were all saying they wanted to find some too. I also have my mother's leather autograph book from her high school and what a riot it is to read the autographs. I wish I were closer to you so you could look at some of my things. I actually do have poppet beads that I have had since childhood. I am 77, so that gives you an idea of how long I have had them.
I love this video, a tour of beautiful things with a voice reminiscent of Fred Rogers leading us through it all, so calming and informative and exciting and interesting, too!
Absolutely love these type of videos! Always learn so much. Shows are always so busy when open. Can’t beat a personal tour filled with lots of information and tips. Thank you George!
I thought I had a large collection of brooches but this had me drooling. Absolutely stunning. The other thing I always think is that brooches don't get in the way when preparing food like rings and bracelets do. 🙂
@@TheAntiqueNomad I know historically they have always been worn on outer garments but sometimes a pretty brooch can liven up an otherwise plain sweater. I have to take some of my bracelets or bangles off when doing certain tasks, as they get in the way.
I'd LOVE to have that Garfield (21:47), just because I am a Garfield fan! I have Garfield slippers, socks, cups, decorator plates for shelf/wall & etc! And thank you for showing that material! It took me back to my childhood! My mom did a lot of sewing & I remember seeing so many of those designs while growing up! Also enjoyed the vintage jewelry! Can't seem to find any where I live!
You have such a fun show it’s interesting to look at but at the end you Realize you’ve learned so much you are very educational , your like a encyclopedia LOL
Oh George! I've loved everything you've brought to us but this day!! I have been sitting in my drive, gobsmacked by the beauty you showed us. At one point, I realized I'd been holding my breath! Another, I found myself verclempt, moved to tears by these gorgeous, delicious, phenomenal brooches. I've worn them everyday of my 35 year career, all thrifted & I have some beautiful ones but I've tended to be drawn to the fun & funky ones, the bigger the better. Since retirement, I've began to use them in decorating, placing them in strategic places, crafting with some, framing others in small vintage frames, placing them in small bottles, vases, jars~esp the tremblers & the bigger bling. But nothing I've seen compares with the staggering beauty you showed. Ok, watched it twice thru, I'm freezing. I'll be watching it again, trying to absorb the info you are sharing. I recently told my fav resellers I will only buy 4" & above to try to limit my buying. At first it was met with disbelief, but Jeana, Trisha & others have met that challenge a tad too well, LOL. I thank you for this gift.
Oh George this was fabulous! My grandmother and great - grandmother were supremely stylish ladies who wore the kinds of jewelry you filmed. It was a lovely nod back for me as I adored them. And all the fabric! Oh my. I hope you have a part ll! Thank you George.
Oh, thanks for the fun. My partner and I sold at that show for several years, and always enjoyed it. Also, so much fun to see our friend Brett! Hi Brett, we miss you in Chicago! (Sally and Ronnie) PS - Margaret with the beautiful linens. We set up next to her a couple of times, such a nice lady - I bought a few things from her as well. Again, thanks, we really enjoyed this.
We used those little tiny cardboard or plastic drawer organizers as earring separators when we were preteens for our little stud earrings, right after we got our ears pierced. I think the local earring store and Woolworths sold them for such a purpose.
My gpa did too- i always got their newest types of products like electronic learning toys & diary, etc. he did a lot of top secret defense work shhh 🤫 haha
George you are so very knowledgeable in so many area's. I love watching and learning from you, not to mention enjoying myself seeing all of the beautiful things..........................Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I no I’m late to the party. But I do have a lot of pieces that belong to my grandmother who died in 1969. She was almost 70 years old. This video came up on my feed this morning and I am enjoying it so much but can I tell you that I had no idea that actually came as in large sizes like I’m seeing here at the 13 minute mark! How gorgeous!
I love it, "bringing back the brooch"! I've been wearing and enjoying them for years; have my grandmother's and my mothers. I also collect Willie Woo brooches. I'm happy to see people are enjoying vintage jewelry again. I enjoyed your video thank you, just subscribed.
I’ve always wear broaches on the lapel of my blazers. I have quite a few very old ones. You helped me at the Crazy Lamp Lady’s meet and greet. I had the very nice Puzzle Bottle. Thank you for your help.
oh my gosh, that jewelry is crazy gorgeous. I love love love looking at all the pieces. George you have so much knowledge about everything and I appreciate the fact that you are always willing to learn more and to teach us. thanks!

Wow! I have been collecting brooches for 40 years and was considering getting rid of them …. Perhaps I should hang on to them .Most of mine are from 1960- 1980s
Wow George, that was amazing! That multi colored bake lite necklace @ 15:44 brought back memories of one similar to one my mom had w/ a pineapple on it that tied w/ a leather strand. She wore that in the 70s, i believe. She also liked brooches in her latter yrs. Thanks for another pleasant antiqucational & vintage stroll down memory lane! That place was quite lively & seemed to be doing great business. Hopefully you had a profitable time there!

China may be more capitalistically driven, but I would still caution American collectors to get nice pieces for your collection now before they disappear.
I like hanging on a chunky chain, or strand of pearls, or simple solid metal torque(sp?) that is “c” shaped & bends around the neck to lay above collarbone, which features brooches perfectly- all you need is jeans, a black or white blouse, & gorgeous piece of jewelry!

SO wonderful! I love so much of this. I just subscribed and love seeing the wonderful things. My father and I just did the 400-mile yardsale on 64 in Kentucky and boy was it a bust for us. We need to find shows like this to go to. Thank you for an amazing tour!
Hi there! I'm so glad you got to see this and I hope you enjoy the channel and tell your friends. I found larger items (small furniture pieces and such) on the 400 mile sale, but not a lot in good vintage smalls this year
@@TheAntiqueNomad Yes, I look for jewelry and teach on my channel the history and ways to identify. So when I went looking I was so disappointed at the lack of jewelry and smalls. About 7-8 years ago myself along with probably a dozen other sales reps (We work for a 102 year old Chicago based restaurant supplier) were flown to WV to the Homer Laughlin China plant, Fiestaware probably best known for but hand painted and decal applied custom plates were a real art form to view the making of. A lot of classic plain white China lines as well. The most incredible part was the showroom I believe is not even open to the public in the 2nd floor where every China ever produced was on display. As amazing as the 150 year old built in cabinetry that displayed it all. They’ve been purchased by Steelite China since along with Hall ceramics located not far from the HL plant. It was like going way back in time watching the many employees in the factory with the brick floors made of oak bricks!
I loved this video. Thank you for being so informative. I love brooches and wear them frequently. I really enjoyed learning more about the different designers. New subscriber. Keep up the great work.
Those little tiny keys are skeleton lock blockers. They kept others from being able to use their key in your lock or peek through.
Thank you! That is good info
so cool!
The "little keys" are VINTAGE WATCHMAKERS LATHE TOOL JACOT DOGS ARBOURS BOW TYPE perhaps E FILIUS BERLIN but I couldn't tell from the video.

Proud to live in Rhode Island and to have been a part of all this working in places like Trifari, Coro, as a hand painter linker, and epoxy painter

Interesting things, liked learning about them from you !
I am so glad I found you through the crazy lamp lady. I have learned so much from your video.

I think the box is a clock maker key set. Because they make all different size clocks.
I thought maybe timepiece related as well
I believe that also!
@@TheAntiqueNomad don't know why but automatically thought of a connection with clock making.🙂
I too automatically thought clock maker set. Great Minds and all that !!
Was that a real seahorse next to the key box? If so, it’s the biggest one I’ve ever seen. 💚💚💚
I am in the "bracelets are too big/ I love brooches" category. I love antique and vintage, all my life. I loved my great-grandmother's style.
