Good Afternoon, My father worked for Anchor Hocking from mid 1950 to the early 80's. We had sooo much Anchorware. Cobolt Blue is my absolute favorite color. I'm still trying finish out a collection of Georgian Glassware by Anchor Hocking. My sister worked for AH and did alot of the hand painting as well.
Lol 😂. That certainly helped with making it popular. When she focused on milk glass people went crazy for it also. It used to be when the flea market magazine focused on anything I could count on it being sold out in my booth. Funny
Thank you, Lou for showing all this beautiful glass. When my brothers and I were kids, my mom would take us to "second hand" stores and antique shops. I remembered her telling me how to tell the difference between blown glass and pressed glass. Mom picked up some very beautiful pieces of glass, one of which was a green Moon and Stars banana boat. I never knew the name of the pattern but now, thanks to you, I do.
My dad bought a large red Moon and Stars compote for my mom's birthday in the 60s. It was displayed on the TV in the living room and held hard Christmas candy during the holidays. I inherited it when she passed. I found one in an auction a few years ago, won the lot and started an online reselling venture. I love glass!
I started in the 80's collecting Moons & Stars. Later married my husband who also loved it. We have a lot, we moved to Florida and have looked in Antique stores here and can't find much. I was told most people who moved to Florida sold all their stuff when they retired here. Thank the Lord for eBay.
❤I love glass, since I was. A child. ( I’m 70) I would go to the nearby five and dime on a Saturday morning and buy a piece of glass with my $.50 allowance after I purchased a hotdog on a bun. Looking at this glass is bringing back a flood of memories. I believe we are all kindred spirits.
So glad I visited here today. When my Mom passed in 2020 I took a great many pieces of glassware. Among the things I have and treasure, 3 of the green grape panel vases. Thank you for letting me know I made the right decision in keeping them.
Lou, I feel like you just took me on a tour of my Mother's china cabinet and boxes of her glassware that I have. I inherited everything from her and also my aunt, who had no children. She called me her favorite niece and so I inherited all of hers also. My mother and father were married in 1937, so I have some beautiful dinner sets and all sorts of glassware. One of her favorites is a green depression glass measuring cup. So, I will be using this video a lot to identify my pieces. I have the candlewick and moon glass. This is so exciting!!! Thank you so much for sharing this!😊
You are welcome. Be sure to check out my other 2 videos on depression glass and elegant glassware from the depression era to help you identify. Thanks for watching.

Amazing! so informative and your delivery is on pint . You see, I have been collecting for just over a year and a half and, I am in the process of doing the daunting task of a detailed inventory with 1000;s of pieces yet to be identified and logged in. Your video has made the task seem manageable. I thank you.
Thank You so much for sharing your vast knowledge. I love so much of the depression era type glassware. It's wonderful to have some knowledge when going to purchase, I have been known to purchase items just by what is attractive to me! A few years ago I decided to thin out my stuff and gave a wonderful lady a large collection of milk glass. She was thrilled to have it and it made me happy just to see her face! 😊
That’s wonderful of you to give your milk glass away. That’s a great rule just to buy what you like. Now you’ll know what it is more. I finally got the taping done for more depression glass videos. It won’t be right away but it is coming. Thanks for watching.
My Grandfather worked for Smith glass in mt. Pleasant pa for 55 yrs . I have so much of that glassware also my Aunt worked at Bryce an I have quite a bit of that too its beautiful glass . Appreciate it.
At 9:39 in the video there are Swanky Swigs out front and a few on the back of the shelf. I've been collecting Swanky Swigs for about 50 years. They held pimento cheese made by Kraft.
I have a large collection of Blue Bubble I’ve collected since the 1970’s. I also have a lot of Golden Anniversary and Moonstone. That Diana child’s set is awesome!
I found three boxes of vintage glass while sorting thru my moms shed. Lots of royal ruby & some pink depression cups & saucers. I also found a couple sets of china, one from the early part of the 20th century. I’d love to ID all of it.
I have a complete set of pink Cherry Blossom service for 8 except for the cookie jar and the salts that I collected before the repros started, some green, some Florentine, complete sets of the children's Cherry Blossom in blue Delphite and pink, and about 100 miscellaneous pieces. Love me some DG.
I have a question. There was this little Antique shop next to my school for years and years after. Well after graduating and coming into Adulthood, lol. One day I decided to go in and take a look around. Because I LOVE, LOVE,LOVE Antique Vanities. As I was coming around a corner talking to my friend, there was this HUGE display of BLACK GLASS. Ok, now, was I dreaming this, or is there such a thing? Reason for me asking is. I have not seen any kind of Black Glass wear, Dinner wear since that day. I am partial to Black, Grey, and White. My house is decorated in those colors. I do have some of that PINK glass, the little Sherbet Cups. My Step Grandmother left them and some other glass to me when she passed 7yrs ago. She would make us Jell-O, and Strawberry Crush Homemade Ice Cream, and we would eat the treats out of those Pretty, Little, Pink Glass Cups. Oh! To be a kid again 😢.
There is black depression glass. I often see the serving pieces but not the dinnerware. Take a look at my depression glass and elegant depression era glass videos and there is some on there. Sherbet’s sound wonderful. I’m glad you are enjoying them.
One of the most common black patterns I have found in thrift stores is a pattern called Octime by the French company Arcoroc. The shapes are an octagon. There are two versions - one with very sharp corners and one where the corners are softened and rounded.
Great video. Most of those patterns I have not seen. I do have Iris candlesticks, Moonstone, and a few more. I remember years ago they gave away green sandwich glasses in oatmeal, I think Quaker. I love glassware, especially the colored. I hope you do more of these.
Thanks. We are working on several regarding depression glass. We just went to the largest depression glass show in our area put on by the club I used to be in. It just a lot more time because I want to be as accurate as I can. Thanks for watching.
This was a beautiful video! I absolutely love my depression glass collection. Most were inherited from my parents, but I have also added to the collection. I recognized quite a few of your styles in my collection, such as, Ruby, Moonstone, Iris, Royal Crown, and Fenton Silver Cress, among others.
Great information!! I love learning about glass! Both of my grandmothers loved it and collected it! I even have a piece of my great-grandmas jadeite - the Jane Rae pattern! Thanks for sharing! I’ll be watching for more info like this!! Just subbed!
Thanks so much for watching. We have a video on depression glass that just needs to be finished but the summer has been crazy busy. I appreciate your support by subscribing. Love that jadite too I actually got a piece this morning at a garage sale. I couldn’t believe it.
The 'jadeite' dishes remind me of pieces that came, one apiece, in boxes of laundry detergent. (Maybe Oxydol?) This from a childhood memories of late 1940s, maybe 1950ish.
So very interesting. I collected King's Crown and some Diamond Point for many years. It seems that it is not very popular. Watching Thrift shows and Lady Mary Beth, they hardly mention it when they see it at Goodwill or other places for sale. I love it but seem to be the only one. I am so glad you mentioned it several times. Thank you!
Kings crown and diamond point are very beautiful. I see it around here a lot and most people know that it is old but only my dealer friends know what it is. Hopefully it becomes popular again. Thanks for watching.
I have a whole set of Kings crown which I bought when we were married in 1967. My mother liked it so much she bought a set too. Now that she is gone I have 2 sets.
@@Pattio47 Yes, I know what you mean. My daughter loves to look at it but isn't interested otherwise. I hope my great grandchildren will like it. I used to set the table with it. Now I dust it in the 2 China hutches. I am enjoying it regardless of who is going to get it. Same with my 4 sets of china, one I purchased in Germany. Everyone loves the looks but most of them want Roasts and potato dumplings with lots of gravy. It doesn't matter what the vessel is.
Thanks for the quick little collectible glassware. Can u give a little information about carnival glass. I’m a big collector and I think more people would if they could here the history of it
Very Informative! I do wish, however, you would let us that don't know or would like to know, value, collectability, rarity as i, not only would like to positively identify some of my mother's pieces, whom has recently passed but to be able to convey some history and aforementioned details along with those pieces, i'm passing on to my children and grandchildren. Thank you so much❣️. I absolutely wish i had your knowledge. Love all this beautiful glassware🩵
The values are difficult for me to determine. I look in reference books with price guides although they are not current. Also I check on line for sold comps. What we thought was rare years ago often changed with the internet. I only could reference what I have seen throughout the years in my area. I’m not qualified to give accurate information in those areas. However I know many patterns through years of experience. Thanks so much for watching.
What beautiful glass ware I appreciate seeing anything from the passed. What city was this store from, reason asking is, were I live I have never seen just beautiful glass. Thank ya for sharing. Enjoyed your video 🤠
It was done in a variety of stores including the 2 malls that I’m in Maumee Antique Mall in Maumee Ohio and Plaza Antiques in Lincoln Park Michigan. Thanks for watching.
@@junkingwithlou Thank ya for replying, I would love to find a store in New Mexico like the one on your video. I’m happy that I came across your video. I subscribed. Looking forward to more. 🙂
We had those Fireking mugs you are showing, the same color, I think we had a whole set. Beautiful is right. My sister has candlewick pieces, hobnail, and a whole host of depression glass. As I get older, I am developing a love for it myself. I have a Milkglass large bowl and single serve bowls that match. I use them any chance I get. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with all of us.
A lot of that glass ware when I was young 😢😢were collected from boxes of oats, laundry powder and etc. sorry to say I never saved it and today people kill for it. Same with glasses (jelly) when you bought gas. Also dish towels and dishes called golden wheat. I had all these when I first got married. Oh well I had it when I needed it and was thankful for it
I was pleased to see the Marigold pitcher. I have my grandmother's with all the glasses that match. You didn't say, but I believe the Moon and Stars was made by the L.E. Smith glass company of Mt Pleasant. Also, was the purple moon from Bryce Brothers
I was born and raised in Mt Pleasant, PA. Smith glass and Bryce Brothers hand blown glass were our main industry. Lenox crystal division took over the Bryce Brothers factory for many years before eventually closing the plant altogether. Smith also made some items hand blown, but I believe the Moon and Stars was perhaps their biggest seller. I have quite a few pieces from both factories.
Thank you so much for this video ! I just discovered I am a closet vintage glass lover! I didn’t even THINK about vintage glass before this. I am SO excited to learn more about this glassware. I just LOVE it! How do I learn more about this?(good reference books, etc.) Where do I go to find it? I am an absolute glassware virgin! Lol help me!
I use the books by Gene Florence. He wrote a lot of price guides for depression glass and collectible glass. I think he may have passed away but I did get to meet him years ago through the Michigan depression glass club I was in. There is also a book by weatherman on glassware. Sorry if I have the wrong name on the second book but I haven’t seen it in a while. Make sure you check out our other videos on depression glass and thanks for watching.
I don’t always give values for glassware because they vary significantly. What I do is look at the sold comps on internet selling sites. There used to be price guide books but things have changed. Sorry I can’t help you. Thanks for watching.
I liked that you identified the items but it would have been awesome if you had mentioned the values of the earlier years like the depression Era, 1900s -1950s
love your video. I jusy found your channel My husband and I use to collect depression glass and different glasses and antiques. I saw a lot of familiar items❤ Can you tell me the store and area you were in taping this video?
It was mainly in the 2 malls that I’m in. Maumee Antique Mall in Maumee Ohio and Plaza Antiques in Lincoln Park Michigan. There’s some shots possibly in blissfield antiques in Blissfield Michigan and a few others. They are mainly in the 2 Check out our 2 depression glass videos too. Thanks for watching.
I have a lot of the classic pale green Depression glass and also the blue glasses with the ship--a whole collection. I didn't know it was Depression glass. This was highly informative. I've never seen most of these. Subscribed.
I’m glad you gained some more information on your glass. We got more on depression glass coming but have been swamped by antique shows. Stay tuned. Thanks for watching.
I love this! I usually pick up pieces that I love and use in my home. I’m really not a collector. Lately I’m more drawn to the 60s -80s glassware. I love the heavy chunky pieces because they hold up to my type of living. Can you do a video with more of these items? Thanks!
Hi Lou, I enjoyed your video! I would appreciate it if you would please tell your viewers the list price of the items and/or your thoughts on what the items are worth. Thank you.
I sometimes do that when I buy a load of stuff from a garage sale or flea market but glassware has changed so much in the last 10 years that it varies. I would suggest looking online for comps. That is what I do. But make sure they are sold ones.
Hi Lou, at about 1:38 into video, just after you talk about the green Capri, briefly on the right side there's a royal blue coloured glass dish/bowl on a bit of a pedestal. This type of glassware is never mentioned in your video but I actually have a bunch of these blue glass pieces. Even a glass basket in this style. Can you tell me the name of this glass, Era, etc? I would like to know what I own thanks so much. ❤ watching you from BC, Canada 😊

I have my mother's full set of blue moon and stars that I love. I think it's absolutely beautiful.
I’ve never seen a complete set together. It sounds beautiful 🤩. Thanks so much for watching.
I have the stars and moon in amberina full cannister set and a few others.
I'm wondering what constitutes "a full set"...?
Is that like a full dinnerware set or what?
What are the pieces in a full set?
You sure are excellent in the glass explanation and talk gentle which you can understand slowing thanks

The painted Fire King was decorated by a company called Gay Fad owned by Fran Taylor in Lancaster Ohio. They bought blanks from a few other manufacturers as well. They decorated glassware from 1938 to 1963 with fruit, flowers, and ivy plus many novelty items. They used ceramic paints and baked the designs on.
Great information thanks so much.
That makes sense. The pattern looked like Desert Rose dinnerware.

I have a gay fad cookie jar. It has baked on fruit. Pears and apples.

@@Pattio47 My daughter isn't thrilled with it and if my grandchildren don't want it, I just enjoy it now and let them worry about it. I love it.
Thanks for the quick little collectible glassware. Can u give a little information about carnival glass. I’m a big collector and I think more people would if they could here the history of it
That’s something I need to explore more about. Good idea for an upcoming show.
Wow love the blue candy dish.
Thanks for watching.
I have a bunch of green Moon and stars that my mom had when I was growing up.
What a great collection to have. Thanks for watching.
Very informative. Thanks. I'll be back
Check out our depression glass videos too. Thanks for watching.
It sounds like you have a really nice collection. I’m glad you liked the video. Thanks for watching.
Iove Royal Ruby glasses .
Definitely and I like pairing it with forest green at Christmas.
I want to see old punch bowls. You are very informative..
Not easy to find but if I run across any I’ll include them in the upcoming videos. Thanks for watching.
My mother had a whole set of the fire ing shiny orange dishes in the 70s
That’s wonderful.
Oh well I had it when I needed it and was thankful for it
Too bad we didn’t keep more of it. Thanks for sharing.
I remember the iridescent Fireking being a premium available with purchase at the Chevron gas station during the 50s and 60s.
Wow I can’t imagine how neat that was. Thanks for watching.
4.4K likes! Whoo hoo well deserved Lou❤️
Can you believe it. Thanks
Candlewick was made by imperial of Bellaire Ohio. I enjoyed your video !
Good information. Thanks for watching.
I was pleased to see the Marigold pitcher. I have my grandmother's with all the glasses that match. You didn't say, but I believe the Moon and Stars was made by the L.E. Smith glass company of Mt Pleasant. Also, was the purple moon from Bryce Brothers
I didn’t say but thanks so much for the information. I’m certainly not an expert and I appreciate any feedback from my viewers. Thanks for watching
I have a collection of the stars and moon. Love that beautiful red orange color.
Very informative. Thank you
You’re welcome. Thanks for watching.
I have almost a hole set of the green florinteen 2 and I’m still adding to it.
How wonderful. Thanks for watching
Thank you for sharing 💞
You’re welcome. Thanks for watching.
I have several pieces of the green depression glass sandwich pattern .Would you know how much it could be worth. Thank you for sharing this video.
That would have been great but difficult to find out.
So Fire King. Got it
Thanks for watching.
love your video. I jusy found your channel My husband and I use to collect depression glass and different glasses and antiques.
I saw a lot of familiar items❤
Can you tell me the store and area you were in taping this video?
Thanks!
I actually have a video on depression glass and one on elegant glass during the depression era. Check those out. Thanks so much for watching.
That round tray before the forest green piece is Cambridge I believe.
Thanks for the info and for watching.
I have a jadeite bowl, but shaped like the one with the tulips.
What a great item to have. Thanks for sharing. Check out our depression glass videos too.
love your kitschy intro music!
Thanks for watching.
@@junkingwithlou So true... prices vary greatly.
If I’m seeing the same thing as you, it is moon and stars which is made by various companies from the 30s to 2004. Thanks for watching from Canada 🇨🇦.
