- Urban Exploration: Kraftwerk V. (English, German and Portuguese subtitles are available!) Episode #161
Today's episode features a nerve-wracking exploration of one of the largest abandoned structures in Germany. This time, we venture into a disused power plant that turned out to be an untouched time capsule from back when it had been abandoned decades ago. Large parts of the equipment are still here which allows us to travel back in time and experience the industry as it was fifty years ago. Join us as we explore deserted halls and find out the story of this unique historical power plant. #urbex #abandonedplaces #bwturbex

Fantastic episode, definitely one of the nicest control rooms out there!
Really enjoy your explores as well!
A lot of their stuff reminds me of you guys.
All of you should do a few exploration videos together.
You two are awesome artists of urbex as well!
Indeed!
It seems you guys have really found your calling in life. The camera work is breathtaking and your research and writing/narration skills superb! To think your videos are so good and you all are only in your early 20's? Wow. I see full, feature-length documentaries in your future! 😘👍♥️
Couldn’t agree more
My Grandparents use to work there, its amazing to see the inside after all this years😍
Oh really? We would love to see old footage - especially with the turbines still inside.
I can ask them if they still got some, if so then i'll holla u.
The care you take in filming and capturing images is so impressive. Attention to detail is perfect....beautiful work.
Never get bored with power plant explorations! Glad you guys got some new gear. Happy to be a patron and help support making these incredible videos even better :)
👍👍👍
We have one more episode to come at the end of this year, but we already wish you a Merry UrbeXmas, and a Happy New Year! Always be curious and keep exploring.

Great story telling.
Love the calendar!
Sir you are doing Gr8 job.Sometimes its too risky but the way you shoot the whole videos are awesome.I try to never miss any of BWT videos.Just Great...!!
Such a quality channel. Found you guys recently and have been sunk into your videos. The level of Cinematography to immerse the viewer is incredible and such an enjoyable watch. Good stuff
Amazing feedback, thanks so much! Merry UrbeXmas!
“They can’t catch all seven of us” 😝🤩 amazing entertainment as always and better filmmaking and presentation than supposed Hollywood blockbusters. Absolute art. Much love from Hawaii 🌺🌈
I don't see how you don't have 500K - 1ML subs. You guys are that good.
I was absolutely fascinated with the one-man bunker!! Talk about a wild, bullet-like shape! LOVE IT.
It's like a small version of the spitzbunker 😆
Control room stuff is pretty standard for that era. You have controls for "lighting up", so using oil/diesel/kerosene to warm the boilers up, controls for valves to divert steam outside (usually to the roof) whilst the steam is too cold for use in a turbine, and then controls for the primary fuel source (coal/gas), and monitors for temperatures, pressures, feedwater pumps, circuit breakers, station transformers, etc. Back in those days, there was minimal automatic control, so the operator would make a phone call to someone in the boiler house and ask them to open valves etc.
Most of this is automated now with SCADA control systems being standard in every power plant. My local (closed) coal plant had 200+ staff every day to operate the plant - the gas plant next door has about 30, and makes the same amount of power.
What a treat this weekend was! First The Proper People show us an abandoned US Power Plant and now BWT doubles down with one from Germany. Excellent! 👍
Also: The Drone Racing League would have a field day in and around this complex. 🙃
I have an idea that BWT are role models for the PP. They did collaborate on the PP’s European tour.
Great episode for sure. I never get bored with power plant explorations
Saugeil!! Can't wait for the calendar. I'm glad I discovered you guys this year; so thanks so much for bringing your epic adventures to RUclips- and being my number one channel to watch. Merry Christmas, Happy and safe 2021!
Absolutely stunning video guys. Those turbine blades are beautiful. Thanks for the wonderful adventure!
Late comment, but I absolutely loved this place. YES please! to more industrial sites, they're my favourite next to asylums/mental health hospitals. The boiler rooms would have made me tear up with joy if I had seen them in person. Like an apocalyptic industrial futuristic city almost. Love it.
Now to to a Broken Window Theory binge. Have a great day everyone! :)
We have 160+ episodes. Will be a long binge, haha. Thanks, and enjoy!
@@bwturbex I love your video
Nice job filming and editing from this cool place.
Keep up the good work guys!
Fantastic place. Awesome footage and photos. As always, you guys are pros at what you do.
I still remember the smell of the smog in Berlin when the DDR was still using brown coal for power. The city would issue smog alerts and transportation was limited with car usage unless your car met the smog standards. It would turn the snow grey in no time.
Thank you! You are one of the few true artists when it comes to urbex!
Subscribed! Nice video's and very learnfull also! Thanks for these videos guys!
The control room is insane !
Thanks guys for this another high quality video :)
Love the power plants and industrial sites. Great video!
The funny thing is some identical pressure vessels seen in that plant can still being used today in many industrial plants, especially O&G production plants.
All your videos are documentary level, and show each location in such a artistic manner that enhances the beauty of the place and the skills of your crew. And I love your respectful way of exploring and environmental conscious. It’s the first time I joined patron, but it makes me happy knowing that I’m supporting talented people who are respectful and responsible. Thank you for the opportunity to experience so many memorable places that I wouldn’t have been able to witness if weren’t for your work. Be safe and best of luck on your future exploration.
Stunning place! Great episode!
Thank you i feel like you take me along with you to places i will never get to visit. Love the fact you always include the history too.
For me it's mostly the history behind it all, LOVE IT!!
The quality of your videos is insane! Just found your channel through the lost Italian village episode and I am in awe! Just subscribed looking forward to future videos :)
Yet another great video. I woke up excited to watch it and it was, as always, great!
Haha, maybe felt a bit like Christmas morning then? Thanks for the comment!
Brilliant again guys! Quite emotional for some reason. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and Hopefully a much better New Year!! Sorry to hear about your lockdown over the festive season. Careful with those fireworks!! lol
Beautifully shot ❤

very nice footage ! nice and brave job ! :)
I love the music you use😎😎 sending good vibes from sweden!
Well what an incredible place! I think the control room was the best. But the art graffiti of the 2 masked guys was just wonderfully done. The gimble is a great investment to your gear! The spinning not so much. The red chair looked like it was sitting on a chest board. Cool pics n great video. I love all types of structures. I'm traveling to places I thought I'd never go. Thanks to you amazing talented dare devils! Have a Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 ❤ 😊 ♥! Be safe n well. GB from Nevada, 🇺🇸.
Super cool. Gerne mehr davon. Den Kontrollraum fand ich am besten 😁👍
I was just watching this episode because of a picture in the calendar 2022 - and I really was drawn into this. The soundtrack you used was really awesome and created the special athmosphere of this place. Thanks for documenting and sharing the story and the imagery of this intersting place.
Hi Ludwig, thanks for the great feedback! Which picture of the 2022 calendar has brought you here?
It was worth the wait! Thanks for sharing your amazing videos! MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR 🎅🦌🎄💥⛄ Hope next year will be better for ALL of us!😊👍❣

Brilliant episode,love frm Portsmouth,Britain.xx
Hopefully the complex will become a documentarycenter. The fotos and historical as present statements you made are already impressive.
Very nice video!just your new subscriber here from cebu phils.
I am so curious and excited!!!!!
Hey Ramona, how did you like the episode?
lots of interesting info - tks
Wishing you a happy new year, and all the best for 2021.
All i can say is WOW!!!
That was also our first thought when we entered the place!
Excelente video y muy bien narrado las fotos son realmente fantásticas saludos desde argentina
Antiga e tão atual , parabéns exploradores
i´ve been there and its totally impressive. We had the luck, that on this day former worker where guiding us through the power plant! it was totally interesting. It was a long time dream, to be in there, since i already had seen pictures from the inside!
Hey Guys, that gimble is definitely a nice piece of kit you've added there - good choice 👍 (I love that roll feature by the way - fancy pants technology!!) Maybe I go over the top but I even have one for my GoPro 8....so stable.
I absolutely love the industrial visits by the way guys, maybe because its part of my career? But definitely because I like that same after man, post apocalyptic feel they have with only the ghosts of the past (and the odd explorer!) Wandering their insides.
I'm split by the way - I love the control room, but even though the turbines are gone here, the field based equipment, pipework and such is always fascinating.
On the side, I love those overview panning shots moving by items in the near-ground....way back in the Day, it was something that Alfred Hitchcock liked to do in his movies too...very effective.
Oh and the Calendars came through, they are brill...definitely recommend others to get one too before they are gone 😉
Jim O
Great video, I love that I got to know about the windows because I thought it was just to let light in, from your videos and others, now I know. So if Germany is not using coal anymore, I seen a video a couple years back that they destroyed villieges for the Brown Mine for the large deposit of coal.
very good content !
BWT team and it's deputies never fail to amaze me. Love the new gimble! It will be well used!
Hey Bill, thanks! The gimbal is not that new though since the footage is over a year old. We were using it heavily since that day! You could see footage shot with it in almost all of the new Italy videos for example.
Das wir niemals langweilig , toller Control Room. Ich freu mich aber auch auf 2021 und die weiteren Episoden der Italy Serie 🍕
I CANNOT WAITT !!!!! 😿
Let us know your opinion about the video when it is (finally) online. 💬
That boiling room funny fact was so awesome and unexpected!
We usually find unexpected stuff like this during our researches. 🙌
This is going to be good!
We hope you will enjoy the video. It was a crazy exploration!
Nice Place 😊
What mm lens you guys using on that gimbal? Them shots look extra crispy! I'm using a 28 mm on mine, but I feel like it's a bit too tight.
The best video
Can't wait...
The wait is almost over!
SUPER, Danke.
I can't imagine how much money has been spent to built and run this operation... only to have it become obsolete. Amazing. So massive! Leviathan is the right term. You guys looked so puny walking around that gigantic space.
Thank you for the video, danke. Enjoyed it. I still think you should go to Siegelsbach depot. I think the locals will probably show you around there. I don't know if the german side is still in operation or not, but at the gasthaus on the corner people will tell you more I think if you ask. I hope all of you have a very happy xmas & new year as well.
14:23 I really want one aswell, incredible technology
Mega, ich finde alle Videos die ich bis jetzt von euch gesehen habe einfach genial, danke Jungs weiter so bleibt gesund.. beste Grüße aus DD 😊
I would have dressed in brown and green not be seen 😉👍 your explore again brilliant !!
Great place for Drone racing!
Top efforts fellas. For just a couple of blokes having a bit of an explore, the camera work is fantastic.
Love the narrative with the history.
Whose car is parked in the carpark out the front?
That was a cool story about the windows lol windows?? That humble is amazing but you always are so good with filming but those are cool affects!!
danke ihr lieben...mehr powerplants bitte!
Iam toady subscribed bro
Sehr schöne Nacharbeit der beeindruckenden Kamera Arbeit .
🤙
Another fantastic video, it was interesting to see such a building still in the condition it was in. It would be pretty neat if the main hall was able to be repurposed.
We actually just explored a power plant that was just recently shut down. It was more modern with a turbine hall double the size as the one you saw in this video. We can't upload the footage yet though because it is quite hot if you know what I mean, lol. Merry UrbeXmas!
@@bwturbex That will be neat to see someday. Merry UrbeXmas to you as well, stay safe guys!
