I would have never broken the piece off or sliced thru the nut. I would have given up and taken it to the shop for a lot more $$ without this video. Thank you. You helped this single mom feel like she can accomplish a lot on her own!! 😀

Awesome "detailed" video...especially 1:10 the 'whitish piece' which is exactly what I have on my 2009 Escape when I removed the old wiper arm. The new replacement arm would not fit, now I know why. Thanks David for taking the time to be this detailed.

1:10 Dude, THANK YOU. I was going absolutely insane trying to install my new wiper arm and had no idea that bit was part of the old assembly. THANK YOU!!!!

Thanks bud. Fantastic video! To the point, detailed, and well filmed. When I did it, I thought I was doing something wrong cuz that plastic mount would NOT come off. Didn’t know I had to break it off til I watched this!

This video saved me about $350. The dealer wanted to charge me to replace the entire motor assembly. The motor was fine and I just needed the new arm. Like others have mentioned, cutting off that little bolt was clutch! 1:15 Thanks for taking the time to make this video. 🙏🏾🤜🏾

Excellent tutorial! It wasn't long and drawn out...just to the point. I (a woman of 60!) just made this repair!! As I like to say, "I am woman, hear me roar!" 🐯 😁

Thanks for this quick and easy tutorial. Have a Mariner with a droopy wiper (points straight down towards the bumper) and just ordered a replacement. Having a heads up on what to expect, and what to avoid doing, is always a big help.

From Buffalo, N.Y. Hey Pal, Thanks. Mine still works but I'm going to grease it up just a little so as to prevent rust from taking its toll. Once again, THANKS FOR THE INFO.

Thank you very much. I was going to buy a puller to get the old wiper off until I saw your video. Got the Drexel tool out and zip, zip zip, the old ones off and the new ones on.

I had the exact issue you described. Used a hacksaw black to cut off the metal collar and was able to install a new wiper. Thank you so much!

Love your videos. The 2008 Escape also has a squeak in the back that is impossible to find. The squeak is caused by the back door latch post found on the boot floor. This metal post rubs against the female attachment mechanism in the door lock. The fix is to wrap the post with duct tape. The squeak vanishes. However, if you have a better solution, please make a video on this topic as I believe it is a popular subject covered by video instructions.

Hi David... curious where you got the adapter to use a "normal" (metal Rain X) wiper blade? Those would be a lot easier to replace than the specialty "rear" blades they sell at the auto parts store.

@701cabman - Sorry for the delay - I updated the links in my description - Here are links to the wiper arm and the wiper blade - I bought both on Amazon:

0:58 the bit he is holding onto where it shows white, my parents one came off mysteriously ;) how can i pop it back on. The case for it is still there but where the wiper is which your holding onto with the white came off.

The whitish nut shown is actually part of the wiper blade and needs to be removed. Watch the video again, I remove it with a hacksaw blade. Please let me know if you are still stuck.
