Half-way through a job to switch the wiper blade motors (R to L, L to R) on the back of my Mini R55 Clubman, when I ran into the wiper arm STUCK/Corroded issue. Ran back to the PC to find a YT video for help. This video popped up first. YOUR METHOD WORKS!!!! THANK YOU!!!! PS: Now, if there was only a video on how to explain to one's wife that her wooden kitchen utensil is in pieces because her husband chose to use it as a "lever" to remove trim pieces/lever off the wiper arms without scratching plastic/paint.
@@CarSpyTV No worries. I figured that if I wake up early enough this Saturday and quickly run to IKEA...I have a good chance to find a replacement. Then, if I stain it with some spaghetti sauce and then run it through the dishwasher...maybe it'll look like the original. Wish me luck!
I've mentioned your plan to Mrs CarSpyTV (my other half). She reckons your wife will 'know what you've done'. Therefore, I suggest you change your name and emigrate. It's safer long term. Good luck!
Mate, the hammer tapping while prying with a wrench handle worked! I used a ball peen hammer so as to not over-do the shock to the windscreen. A good soaking for hour with PB Blaster helped as well.
Brilliant I had big problems with them on the transit must on been on since the 60s I think, I am off down to St Albans on Saturday just a show for transits, have a good weekend mate
Last time I had to remove a stubborn wiper, I ended up breaking it. I like this method because it is gentle and employs little force and and just a very mild shock. If I were to buy the tool it would lie unused for the next ten years, so thanks for sharing.
Great video, this technique worked for me. Once it broke free , it would not come right off even when rotating it with all the leverage of the entire arm. I had to use my puller to get it finally off, but I doubt if the puller would have worked without loosening them your way first. My wiper arms are on a splined shaft (Dodge minivan)
Interesting! However, I'm not surprised it rained. What did you expect as soon as you'd wrestled/hammered off that stubborn blade? Excellent know-how and well explained.
need that Video after my dads Windscreen-wiper-arm-pulling-tool was murderd by that arm. ima try that tomorrow. Edit: Since it worked i have a little Tip, if it seems like this Trick isn’t working, try lifting the arm using the Spanner and simultaneously spraying WD-40 to really get it in there, then let it sit. Worked wonders for me!
I just did this to my 2003 Mitsubishi magna and it came off in about 30 secs previously to hammering it couldn’t get it off no matter how hard I tried ❤
Another very useful video. Of course you know I'm going to say it would have been easier and quicker if you'd used GT85 instead of WD40. 🤣 I prefer the vice-grips, especially where there's not a lot of room to swing a hammer, then either pull or more pliers to tighten the vice-grip pliers, all left to soak in GT85 first while a mug of tea is made (in a pot of course) and drunk, then the second mug to empty the pot and perhaps return to the car or leave it overnight. There's never a rush to do anything on a car.
@@CarSpyTV at least you had the decency not to show or say the brand name. 🙂 And I suppose there's less chance of that can slipping out of your hand whilst filming.🙂
Some fool had snapped the driver side wiper arm off of my 21 year old car just leaving a 4 inch ‘stump’ . I got the nut and washer off ok but the arm was stuck fast . Then I discovered this video ! The day of my attempt was eerily like that in the video, sporadic biblical showers . I reckon it took about 10 minutes and I ended up using the spanner method too and off it came before the next downpour. I retreated to the man cave to await my delivery of a replacement arm from the breakers and replaced it just in time for the next downpour which also helped to test the repair. Success! Many, many thanks for your advice, I was really at my wits end and thoroughly depressed when I discovered your video! 😊
if they are rly stuck that wiper pulley wont work either... I bought the exact same one from the picture and it just bent straight away ( and it wasnt even a cheap one)...
Hmmm, I hope Mrs carspytv will allow you to bring your cars, into the kitchen next time. You can use the engine as an grill, at the same time. Hmmm, more carspytv egg sandwiches. Hehe

Thanks for posting. Only extra suggestion is to put a blanket or cardboard over the windscreen to protect the glass. 👍😎🇳🇿✨
Good idea, David.
Yep, well worth doing that IMO. I use an old coat.
Nothing a hammer can't do. Really good for washing up too!
That's a thought!
