The Amish farms make maple syrup and when it boils it builds up foam and they throw in some butter and the foam disappears and the syrup gets richer and sweeter!
The installer did a thorough job installing and had some good tips on how to help preserve the shed. ruclips.net/user/postUgkx8CcyN6o1ejzQFIkabM3kaq93DfYKBg7z The product looks nice, cannot attest to the quality, it has been 3 days.
From the start, Ryan was very helpful and is continuing to be helpful about his ruclips.net/user/postUgkxGqOCINHE0Z0E5gxzSdNi9NWGugRY5Hm2 Plans . Also, they have answered all the questions I have asked & I got outstanding support from his My Shed Plans full package.
With your elbow , what's happening is the muscle and tendon is developing micro tears from the bone, from over use. (Years of drywalling). The band , supports the muscle and tendon and allows them to heal. This is how it was explained to me when I went through the same thing. Great video!
Yes, and I'm thinking you should wear it for a few weeks at a time so it can heal completely 😉 Not at while sleeping or in relaxed state but definitely ot your doing most things.
It's always awesome to see the Don and Kevin show, I would love to see this year your largest build on this channel ever, a huge cottage multiple bedrooms multiple levels below and above ground, completely self-reliant from the beginning and off grid. Such a place that is large enough that your family could retire there and host major friends and family events. No connection whatsoever to the outside world.
Yay! Maple sugar time! Watching the process never gets old. ❤️ I'd love to see a vid series where you update us on all of your past builds. How are they holding up? Which get the most use? What kind of maintenance they need, etc.
Love all your content, thank you for another awesome episode. I think a barn/wood mill should be the priority, it will give you so many opportunities for the future in terms of content and what you will be able to build. The grain-zeebo sounds awesome but I feel it is something that you could do later, having a working mill could help you build it even better. Wish you all the best, looking forward to the next episode.
I was missing your videos. So good to see you. That syrup is going to be awesome I'm sure. 👌 I agree with you building the shed for the saw mill first, then the roof over the outside kitchen. Sounds like you have a lot of great projects coming along. Looking forward to all your antics and great projects 👍. Peace and good fortune and good health to you and yours. ❤️ 😃 Cool shout out to "The Outsider", I like his channel also 😀.
The key to doing this yourself at home is to plan the summer before. Materials become hard to obtain during maple season. Start by identifying your trees while the leaves are still on (see Flag of Canada for example). I started last year with three spiles and expanded this year to nine; a mix of old school metal and new plastic. I LOVE the galvanized nail to pin the bucket up vs. using the hook. That's exactly what i did to expand for this year and I like it even better than the new style buckets with lids integrated into the spile.
The elbow problem is due to the ulnar nerve being compressed. The contraption probably relieves some pressure of the nerve against the bone (elbow). I had to have a surgery for some relief. It didn't really work. We have topical lidocaine at the dollar store I use for instant relief. Hope you feel better. Great, informative vid.
A doctor told me to never agree to any tendon surgery in my arm until I could not open or close my hand. Because that would be all the use I would have after they got done with it due to where and how the tendons were tore. It's been almost fifty years since that advice and I can do more now with less pain than I could then.
Yay! So glad to see you again ! Between the two projects I vote for the sawmill house. Because you use wood almost ALL the time. So it would be more useful. Be well!
Love both projects. The kitchen cover attracts me most but I agree the mill cover is also fun and sounds like it has more practical merits. You’re efficient. Get the mill done than move onto the more fun kitchen project. Loved your childhood memory of the sugar shack. Nothing better than the fun and carefree nature of our youth. I’m expecting my first grandchild and want to help create those same memories for him/her.
I am so happy this morning! I got to watch a fabulous video from one of my favorite youtubers with my coffee! My suggestion for the next build is the sawmill shed. I would put two walls on the sides that the weather usually comes down the hardest, a loft for dry wood storage, a solar powered fan to blow the dust away from you or a vacuum system to collect the dust and use that in the outhouse, and have a core gravel floor system to keep it from getting muddy. I'm now going to subscribe to your brother's channel and watch the pond transformation. This way I will also be better informed of why the hell you abandon us for weeks at a time and make us think you're in a ditch somewhere trapped under a log! 🙄🤭 I think the grainzebo will be a beautiful build and I look forward to seeing that this summer. Until NEXT WEEK, 😜 be safe, stay warm, hug those beautiful girls, say hi to Don, and ask your brother if you can post videos on your channel if you do projects together! 😊 ✌️💜🐖💨
Just did my first boil of the season last week! Although the last several days have been wonky weather and the sap hasn't been flowing (Rhode Island). Though there have been some extreme low temps for the area here and there, it's largely been a warmer-than-average season which is hurting production region-wide so far.
Both projects sound super fun, but my vote is for the sawmill cover/barn/shed. Its so satisfying seeing you work a huge log into manageable pieces! This way you'll have more opportunity to make stuff with it and show us!
Yay!!!!! You're back! My vote goes to the sawmill pole shed! I think saving your mill from the elements is priority! Although I would also like to see the umbrella build....maybe this summer! I also watch the "Outsider" and he's great and has lots of wonderful ideas! Welcome back and don't stay away so long...Thanks!
I hear ALL The Snow went down to Southern California. Been missing you Guys too. I'm glad everyone is OK. I've been wondering about the Pond. So I'll check out your Brother's channel.
I’d like to see the saw mill under cover 😀 Also… I now have an Ecoflow river pro thanks to your channel. Most expensive phone charger I’ve ever purchased 🤪 it is very handy on camping trips though
as someone who does a lot of woodworking and sawing with a sawmill, i wish we had a shed for our sawmill. we will one day, but if your option is between that and a kinda gazebo thing, i would def choose the sawmill shed first. mostly because if you do it now you will be able to use your sawmill more through the year, but also because you can get your wood cut and ready to do the gazebo thing in the summer. I def think you should do the sawmill shed first.
Because you have always worked clean, my mind says you say "...and then, I've got my bucket" @13:52, but my ears are hearing something a little more....street. I can't convince myself otherwise! Love ya, buddy!
I used to get tennis elbow from playing frisbee golf and those forearm braces work wonders. They keep your tendons in place so they do not have as much stretching and thus do not get inflamed.
You did an amazing job of chinking you beautiful cabin, it looks so sturdy. We also live in a log cabin, 10” round logs, Swedish cope style, 1-1/2 stories, on eight acres in rural Southern Wisconsin. Our dream home!
Being a Certified Orthotist, I see this problem often. Golfers and Tennis elbow is a torn tendon from the epicondyles. The Bandit or Aircast splint compress’ on the tendon below where the pain is relieving tension from the torn tendon thus relieving pain.
@@ModernSelfReliance I just went to an Ortho for tennis elbow, and I was told it will heal over time, but it can take months to fully heal. Doing a few stretches a few times a day will help a lot, and be careful not to strain it again. Anti-inflammatory meds also help by giving the torn tendons a better environment to heal. I was given some arthritis meds that have made a world of difference that I wasn't expecting
You remember the expression about something being their ‘Achilles heal’. Tendons are that way, if you overdo it, it will start to flair again. I wore my band for about six months when my tennis elbow is bad and I never feel it now unless I overdo it.
I'm stoked to see the grainbinzebo construction. For those of us in the mid-west US, grain bins are readily available and it seems like a great use of old silos. Also, decision making fatigue is a real thing in today's society. Simplification is beautiful.
Great to see you again. I agree with prioritizing the saw shed and the simplification of socks. If you were to place your sap tank higher you could plumb a gravity feed directly to the evaporator. Thanks for sharing. 👍
My personal opinion on what you should build next would be the building for the saw mill. I think that might be a little more important for future builds. But either way great content.
Oh I’m so happy this video popped up in my notifications. Yes missed you much. Was hoping all was well with you. Which ever job you do I’m here for it either way. I love Watcha got goin on. Thank s for the ride.
Doctor here. The brace is placed further from where the injury is along the tendon to relieve stress on the part of the tendon that connects to the bone.
I always wanted a screen pavilion with canvas walls and an open hearth fire place with iron hooks for cast iron cooking. A grain bin roof you could just open the top and let the smoke out
I had a similar things for my knee and it worked great. It adds support to the joint and that is why it works so quickly. Cant believe a little thing like that can add the support but it does and helps alot.
+1 for saw mill. To be honest I could watch any of your projects and be happy. Hoping for a return to more frequent videos, but I understand how busy life can be. Big fan of your channel. Cheers.
My guess is the band works on a trigger point to squeeze those which can get rid of tension built up in muscles. Trigger points are the origination or end of a certain muscle. My vote for project is saw mill first to make your outdoor kitchen and many other projects easier in the future. Love the content keep up the fun :)
Awesome show thank you for sharing it. Yeppers you guys have been working hard on the fishing 🎣 pond. I know you guys are tired. Have a great day and enjoy the maple syrup
Glad to see you back Kevin I'd like to see a sawmill shed build to see it mill lumber to build itself a shelter. Do you think you will be going back to a weekly upload shedgual
Saw mill project wood 😂 be great! You would have a roof when you are cuting wood for all other project like the kitchen roof. Your videos are always great.
Your Plasma, just iv it! No sleep tonight for Kevin. That elbow device is similar to the sciatic nerve device you strap around your leg, just under the knee.
Hey you’re back, figured you’d be tapping trees. I use the blue 5 gal water jugs from water coolers keep the plastic on the top that stays when you pull it off the cooler and feed tubing from a plastic spile into the plastic on the bottle neck. Bottle stays on the ground. Easy carry, no spilling. No lids, no debris👍 pole barn w a hoist setup? For the mill sounds great.
I vote for the shed over the saw mill. You need that. It will be protection from the elements for you and the saw. Be sure to save $$ for the extension on the mill!

I vote for the saw-shed. want to do something similar myself so would be nice to see how you tackle that :)

I think sawmill shed is the way to go. You can do the grain bin zebo during the summer while working on the pond.
Good morning from Minnesota USA!! Great episode! I agree the sawmill house 🏠 should come next.
I vote for the Sawmill casa.. I can't wait to see the build.
You been working your butt off on the pond to so I understand why it's been so long sense the last video. So glad your back! 👍✌️
Yup. We missed you guys. I vote for the shed for the saw mill.
