I can 100000% relate to you being like WHY didn't i do this sooner. I look back even two years ago and i'm like who is she?! The difference from being so depressed to just okay is a huge contrast i agree. I'm so happy for you
Crying watching this because your reaction to starting SSRI therapy is nearly identical to my brother's. His mental illness convinced him that there was no medicine that could help him and it "wasn't even worth it", so both of us (me too, as many of the things we've been through have led to ptsd in me) suffered for 20+ years. I was literally raised protecting him and putting him first, despite him being older.... Of all things, a youtube video got him curious to try SSRI's and honestly he is a new fucking person. I weep when I think of all the suffering and uphill battles we've been through, when there has been help out here all along.
I'm so happy you are feeling better. My 17-year-old daughter was recently diagnosed with ADHD and autism. Boys are 4 times more likely to be diagnosed BTW. Medication is life-changing and life-saving.

I love that I can come here for book talk, coloring, fun grooming, kitty cat cameos, mental health pep talks, food and recipe sharing. I feel like I’ve just had a zoom meeting with a friend. Your makeup style is reflective of the current smeary book cover art, keeping the theme going. Nice. The brown eyeliner is softer-looking than the black, goes with your hair and brows nicely. You are so kind to be conscientious of your friend’s veganism. Also, eating well helps improve mental health, knowing too well how depression influences appetite and motivation for food prep. Thanks for sharing everything. You’re inspiring.❤

I loved His Black Tongue too, which led me to read Howls From the Dark Ages which is a medieval horror anthology and its low-key one of my favorite horror books of all time. I really think you'd enjoy a lot of the stories in it.

I love the brown eyeliner.. it’s giving Wood Nymph. Also, can absolutely relate to the mental health stuff. Prozac allowed me to finally see and feel myself. If I have to take it every day for the rest of my life, I’m fine with that ❤

I found the same as you when I could be medicated for depression just how different and more colourful the world is with medication. May you continue in the blaze of light and colour and catch up on what you had missed out on 💜💜
On the strawberry front have a look around and see if they do these things called pine berries. They look like white strawberries with red dots on them, they have a stronger strawberry taste apparently.
Being from the UK I can’t believe how expensive you fruit and veg is from the store.
What does tofu taste like? Do you have to use a different firmness of it depending what you want to do with it?

Jordaline- I'm so happy that you are able to lift your head out of the water now. I get it- I've been on an SSRI for about 6 years now and sometimes it hits me that like, yeah, I'm okay. And I remember just how bad it was and how far I've come. BTW your cats are so cute!
I’m so happy you’ve found some medication that is working for you! I know exactly what you mean. The feeling of just not feeling horrible and wondering how other people feel happy.

Ive been taking my meds probably 10 years now, id be a mess without lol I don't think I will EVER be 100% who is these days anyway lul but it is a huge difference like you said to be able to feel OK. UGH i love your vids, everything food related too.. keep bringing it 🥰

I'm so glad you talked about medication for depression. A certain booktuber, in the past 48 hours, had a different opinion on medication and I was totally turned off by her take on it. 😩 It takes most of us YEARS to finally take medication after so much suffering.

@@halm1773 I don't want to say she's totally "anti-meds" or have anyone send hate her way, I was just surprised by her words while reviewing Melissa Broder's 'So Sad Today'. It was in Hailey Hughes latest video about speculative fiction. I went back to see the part that bothered me and it was basically.... "I am very much against psychiatric medications" followed quickly by "in certain contexts". "For me, as a professional, i don't think the answer is this American obsession with numbing."
I very much disagree with the "obsession with numbing" wording, especially coming from a therapist. 🥴
I'd like to add...she's welcome to her opinion, obviously. But I don't think she realizes that when you speak like that it not only sort of shames those on medication (as if they're just not "sitting with their feelings" long enough or "trying hard enough"), but it also deters those who need medication from getting on it.

I completely agree that as a professional I’d hope she’d have a heightened awareness of the influence that negative stigma can have on people deciding whether to take medication for mental health support. And I’d hope she’d chose her words more carefully as a result! Of course will send no hate her way. I wish you all the best - antidepressants turned my life around, so I understand the personal connection to this topic!

Also, when I finally got on something that worked for me I had the same epiphany. One day I just noticed I felt FINE. Ironically, I cried in relief. I was like wtf is this how most people feel? Is this what it feels like to be normal?? But I am sad that I spent like 30yrs feeling “depresso” when I didn’t have to.

The makeup at the end, stunning! Lean into that sh-t more often 😉 Please update about the oat milk outcome! My mom tried to do this, and she said it doesn't keep well. She suggested that an overnight stash (all used the next day) is the most that should be made at a time. I've never tried to make it. Milk bag instead of nut bag, may be 😆
