So thrilled you recommended Mary: An Awakening of Terror. Nat Cassidy impressed me with his ability to capture the total frustration a woman faces as she ages and experiences menopause--and then wraps it all up in a super crazy paranormal experience. Looking forward to reading his book Nestlings.
Just started the video but I'm too excited to see if it gets recommended but I need to tell everyone about Sundial by Catriona Ward. I think you picked it up but I don't recall anything beyond that. But my god it's so good at being creepy but also a wonderful look at troubled mothers and daughters
Ive had the girl next door audiobook sitting unplayed for almost a year now. I might have to force myself to start it because i dont think ill ever really be ready
Lmao. For some reason I thought it would be a good idea to read The Troop the week that my Scoutmaster husband and son went to a high adventure camp called Seabase, where they canoe out to an island in the Florida Keys and camp out for a week.😳 Also,I absolutely love you and your videos! ❤
I am currently reading this wretched valley and once I read about the dog being there I was like OH NOOOO!! Thank you for telling me the dog survives 😂😂
Fantastic recommendations. Have not read a bad recommendation from you yet. Do you ever think about books you've read that weren't necessarily your favorite? The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson haunts me and i dont know why.
Summer Hikaru Died is SO good. In the same vein, if you want to try a horror GL give Otherside Picnic a shot 8) It vibes of Annihilation to me, if you've read the Southern Reach Trilogy
Please don't collab with Temu they are a terrible brand in pretty much every regards (ethics, quality of products, ecology, respect of human rights, privacy rights etc)
I was so disappointed to see Jordaline working with them :( Temu is literally in the middle of multiple class action lawsuits right now concerning data security and unsolicited text message marketing (outright stealing customer data and contact information). I really hope she sees this and breaks ties with them
@@lunarbookling2139 Most people do not need the trash sold on that website. If you buy very cheap things that fall apart after using them only a little and then have to rebuy you are wasting money and resources so you are better off buying higher quality stuff. I'm not talking about really expensive stuff, just not 1 or 2 dollar items. Also just consuming less and only buying what you really need. I'm not sure that the things on that website are essential. It's a concept that people nowadays have forgotten.
Jordaline you should make an introduction video to horror, with like levels of gore ec (just like romance readers do for spicy levels)!! i want to be a horror girlie but I don't know how much gore and depravity I can handle 😭 I love your videos but I don't know what I can handle or not 😭😭(hashtag wimp)
I started reading horror last year and what surprised me most is that some people were afraid to read a book that wasn't even scary for me, so unlike romance it's impossible to take into account everyone's specific phobias, and there are certain things that can make even a gore-less book scarier than those with gore! Btw in this particular video the safest book is probably Confessions which is a thriller.
@@Silverraine1 Thanks so much! I've got Mary on my TBR as well as Tell Me I'm Worthless, Experiment Film and The Woods are all Black but maybe I'll get Confessions first!
@@MartasTBRProject I loved Confessions, and I don't even like thrillers, but it's not scary just thrilling like a good mystery. I also have 3 of the books you mentioned but am still scared to read, they're definitely not beginner level, (Mary was inspired by Carrie!). You have to build up your spooky stamina for them! Start with cozy horror, classic ghost stories, gothic horror or even gothic romances if you love romance. I love fantasy so I naturally started with T. Kingfisher (What Moves the Dead, A House with good Bones) as she has a sense of humour to her writing. If you want to read from Jordaline's faves The Elementals by Michael McDowell is perfect for summer. It's a southern gothic horror classic set during the summer months in which it's the house next door that's haunted. I read it during the day and I still remember I kept looking up every few minutes to check my bedroom windows 😅 PS: keep in mind since it was written in the 70s-80s and set in the south there's a small bit of perhaps unintentional? racism where the white family's servants are all black and goody-goody. For balance you can always follow it up with some modern horror books from authors like Victor LaValle (The Ballad of Black Tom) and Silvia Moreno Garcia (Mexican Gothic) which challenge/subvert the old colonialist and racist themes and tropes.
@@Silverraine1 omg I already read T. Kingfisher! LOVED The Twisted Ones! Also read The Ballad of Black Tom and Mexican Gothic, the last one I gave a 5 stars to :D Will try to get The Elements and maybe try Mary! Thank you SO MUCH for you help and recs!
But what is the first book about I don't get it? Is the boy trying to save the girl being tortured? You just described she is being tortured and thats all...
The girl next door is sickening, BASED on a true story, the film American Crime I think is banned, or at least it should be. what they did to that poor girl. AND THEY LIVE some of them, HAPPY LIVES NOW. Hmmm great. R.I.P Sylvia Likens.
Omg i want to read every single book. Seriously do the publishers know your work? Cause they are missing a lot of money not hiring You to White the books sinopses... i Live in brazil and i'll read them. Publishers please ...

Hello my book queen - heads up, Final Slaughter by Sergio Gomez is out, just got my signed copy delivered today! PLEASE get it and preach the word! Loveya work x
I feel like I’m the only one who thinks Confessions is the most problematic book ever and I don’t understand how it still gets talked about positively. Fully 0 stars do not recommend.
I disliked Confessions so much, unfortunately. Did not care for the audiobook one bit, everyone was very annoying. Couldn't get past the homophobia, transphobia, and AIDS misinformation. I don't care when it was written, I really wish I'd known before getting into it. That being said, I can acknowledge it was a good story and well executed, but just not in a way that was meant for me.

I cannot express how much I appreciate the “There is a dog. The dog doesn’t die” disclaimers. You’re out here answering the real questions ❤️❤️
Troop is a poor mans ruins. I felt the same way!!!
Thank you for recommending Mexican Gothic. I really enjoyed it.
I love your entire personality so much. Instantly subbed. You’re hilarious.
“Did it ruin my life? Yes. But was I better for it? Also yes.” This is such a hook for me, SAY LESS 😂
You are the only booktuber who actually recommends books I haven't heard of and not the same ones over and over. Thank you!
The ending of Tender is the Flesh destroyed me too 😭I love The Ruins and it is definitely a perfect summer read! I need to get Mary asap x

Reading this book right now. I’m in love with Nat Cassidy at the moment.Great recommendation. Thanks for the video, gorgeous.

I read "the girl next door" several years ago and it's stuck with me. I really liked Nick Cutter "The Deep".
I read Mary this month and enjoyed it! I think it could've been a bit shorter, but all in all it was a good read.
oh Jordaline not Temu, why???😭😭
Looking like Blair Waldorf ❤❤❤ Love it
"it's fucking scary. and it's gay." say less. sign me up.
Great to see you in another video, your makeup is looking absolutely snatched . You look amazing.
Superb video
Oh my goodness that cabinet is stunning 😮…I need one or two 🫢
Reading Tender is the Flesh right now. And I’m doing multiple novellas this month trying to get caught up on my book count. Good guess 😂
Really excited about This Wretched Valley
Ive had the girl next door audiobook sitting unplayed for almost a year now. I might have to force myself to start it because i dont think ill ever really be ready
Confessions is one of the best book i ve ever read!!!!!!
LOVE your reviews, added some more books to my TBR list. ❤
Little Heaven is my fav Nick Cutter book, better than The Troop for sure.
Lmao. For some reason I thought it would be a good idea to read The Troop the week that my Scoutmaster husband and son went to a high adventure camp called Seabase, where they canoe out to an island in the Florida Keys and camp out for a week.😳

This makeup look makes you look like Dove Cameron!! 🕊️
Love love The Ruins! 🍃
I have a confession... I didn't like Confessions. Reading from the POV of those nasty characters was insufferable 😂
I noticed a theme with Sodergren books: a pug is mentioned and a peeeen always gets ruined
I am currently reading this wretched valley and once I read about the dog being there I was like OH NOOOO!! Thank you for telling me the dog survives 😂😂
the clow card in 'mexican gothic' after roleplaying her cousin begging for help is so great 🤣🤣
omg good MORNING, excited for these recs :^))
GOOOOOD MORNIN' 🥰
I'll join your new religion surrounding that book "Mary" 🤣 I loved that book so much
I think we're soul sisters. Books and coffee, nothing better!!

Girl she’s getting her coin , she has bills to pay

The first book...The Girl Next Door...I think there is a movie about it too! I saw that and yes...such a terrible situation!
I didn't know there was a movie! I don't know if I'll check it out though cause I'm still not over the book 😪
@@JordalineReads a second film about the same case is An American Crime, which includes a young Elliot Page as Sylvia. Its heartbreaking
The movies were horrifying, I don't know if I can read the book 😳
Tender is the flesh turned me vegan 😂
Oh-shawn😅 love you Jordaline!
Love you too Mads!! 🥰
The ending of Tender is the Flesh made me so angry but I also felt like I had been punched in the stomach at the same time.
I heard about PLAYGROUND, have u read it? Do u have a review about it?
