Very important. The "perception" of power and fitness in bodybuilding starts at the traps and work out towards the shoulders to the arms and flows downward. Some will say this doesn't really matter but judges like seeing this. Big or well worked out traps.

I agree with your selection. Personnally, my best: Trap or Hex bar shrugs + snatch deadlift or regular deadlift with a few sets of snatch deadlift. The snatch deadlift is not well known but you should check out for it. Also, with the hex bar: try to do heavy isometrics (just holding the weight) after your regular sets, let's say try to hold for 20-30 seconds as heavy as you can, two-three times.
Interesting. In my experience I get my mid-traps better by squeezing my shoulder blades together during an incline d-bell shrug, rather than up (like a conventional shrug). I always felt like I wasn't hitting the target whenever I did the latter, but was just adding volume for my upper-traps. Just throwing it out there if someone's looking for a variation. I like it any case. Dumbbell shrugs are my all time favorite. I'm actually reducing volume there because they've been so effective and I've developed something of an imbalance.
Just to let you know guys, if you workout traps very hard, your neck will get muscular also. So if you feel neck pain, its not injury, just muscles! :)
I used to not have traps at all, all you could see were my shoulder blades after working my traps first before anything I was able to close my blades so I didn't look so skinny and my back got toned too!!! this is for anybody who wants to start as a hard gainer like me make sure you work your back first!! please!! I know you want to work your arms and parts your lacking but the back is really important!
@Zombie Head I do rack pulls all the time to unrack the barbell so I can perform shrugs there is no other purpose to such an exercise. Rack pulls are silly moving a bar 2 inches is pointless. I'm glad at least some people can see this.
Love this guy. I find focusing on pushing my lats/shoulders down on the first exercise mentioned helps me get a more complete range of motion in the muscle.

I go lighter weight on traps on my pull day and then on my auxiliary/catch up day I do really heavy shrugs and farmer walks....another great exercise that develops traps is power cleans but I havent done a clean in years
I do it separately. A back day will be typically (currently) seated rows, lat-pulldown, facepulls. Rows work the traps but not as much as it would be if totally isolated, usually I do long lighter sets of rows plus short heavy ones. I do not have much power for the traps after that and since you should train the traps with an heavy load, I do it another day. For example, I would deadlift plus I would add an extra trap exercice or dedicate a full session to upper back/auxiliary exercices for deadlift (snatch deadlifts). It depends on your goal, program and experience.
See bud, youre getting different responses because everyone is different, its trial and error, find out your goals, build a plan around that, and dont be afraid to tweak/customize it....but big traps equals big weight and if you want to look like a horse you have to eat like one
hey man i tore my ac joint about 2 years ago and i didn’t even know i’m 17 now and i have a very hard time just getting my right one to fire. i’ve been trying these for a full year any more exercises or tips would help
Hey Max, To improve your videos can you at least show 3-5 reps of the exercise explained without pauses or interruption at the end of the explanation. You skip so quickly to the next exercise without ever showing the exercise in full motion.

Try one heavy set of shrugs for 20 plus reps. Jim Wendler recommends this and he has traps up to his ears.
I'm holding up for 5 sec and lowering down for 5 sec, 10 reps like that will fire up traps
