I'm sorry could you explain what you mean by rad? is this the positive bevel I see like what's on the journals? thank you for all the information you give us too! I'm on my very first RB25det build
@@tankereu4557 I believe 400 or even 300 Celsius is too high - we only need to expand the collar 2 thousands. This for sure changes the color of the collar. I'd also venture this changes the hardness of the steel. I sent support a picture of my blue'd collar and they said to send it anyway...so I did. No issues yet but it really sucks to have doubt about it, caused purely by unclear/conflicting installation instructions. You make great products PRP, step up your documentation game.
@@hpsfabwork I sent them an email about it, here's the response: "Thanks for the email, I have checked with Herman & has confirmed the video is correct. We will amend the guide but has said you are aiming for 1.5 thou clearance but no more than 3 thou"
@@blackmesaresearch2 So the guide on prp website is wrong With the 3 thou ? And they will make a new guide? I have looked at other brands: nitto> 2.5 to 3 thou. Spool > 1.5 to 2 thou. Supertec racing > 3 thou. So what interference you will choose now ?
@@hpsfabwork Yes it appears the guide is wrong...or at least partially and 3 is the absolute limit. I called the machine shop and told them aim for 1.5 to 2. I believe one of the big factors is crankshaft temperature when being measured - it's gotta cool down after grinding before an accurate measurement can be taken.

Radius
300 C (Not F) makes the collar an indigo blue color. You mention heating until red?
