That's been my conditions at my lake the past 3 weekends. Tube's and drop shot next to cover near drop offs to deep water. Or slow hopping a finesse football in ditches or the end of points. That's all l could get a bite on.
Just gotta say the Ozark rig is the real deal! Fished a local tournament last week and took first place and big bass on a 6th Sense Prawn rigged on an Ozark rig.
I was out yesterday in flat calm, super sunny/hot conditions and the 10” PowerWorm brought in the biggest fish. A small underspin and dropshot flat worm brought in the numbers.
A staple of my fishing buddies is a 5" yamamoto twin tail hula grub on a 1/4 oz stand-up jig head. It has a slow enough fall to let the fish see it. The bait doesn't quit moving even at rest.
Calm sunny and 100 is the norm at my local lake in July/Aug so I clicked on this immediately. haha. Even with a box of high end baits the Zoom Mag II ribbon tail in Green Pumpkin is the #1 confidence bait in these zero cloud ultra UV, low wind, 100 deg conditions.
@@MattStefanFishing today was same slick conditions but cloudy. Only caught 1 outta brush like last week. Dropped down to a 3/8 jig and started catching them shallow on lay downs. And matched last week's bag. 16lbs best 5
I'm a topwater junkie. I cast to the shady side of cover. Let it sit, twitch a couple times, If no strike, work it back to the boat. Often get a strike a few feet away from cover. They don't want it to get away.
Completely agree man... You definitely named off some of my favorites for those conditions. I'd throw in a jighead minnow, swimbait, and dropshot but thats just what I like on the lakes I fish on mostly. Luckily these days we have livescope so it makes these conditions much easier to deal with. Great video as always keepem coming brother!!!
Great video! Two questions. Would a 4 inch Swimbait on a jighead work in these conditions? Also what if its sunny and calm conditions but the water is stained? Do i fish flashier stuff then?
Hey Matt! I had watched that rigging clip and I was taking the hook clear through, but after a few casts the worm was coming loose and wanted to slide up the line a little. I may need to practice a little more....
Seems soft plastics are more effective in sunny, flat days..especially in summer....a tube works well as well in cover areas...Tubes aren't seen by bass as much anymore it seems
Question: Just returned from Grand Traverse Bay and I threw an Ozark rig some but I was having trouble keeping the 5" Yum Dinger worm attached. It kept coming off of the eyelet. Any suggestions as to what I was doing wrong?
What do you use on a heavy pressure lake that's clam not much under water cover .But has trees and rocks not much brush cover either. What are the 4 best lures to use.
Finesse jigs, 6" Texas rigs, Ned rigs and 2" plastics on a 1/16oz ball jig head(bass seem to eat them just as much as the bluegill and crappie this time of year).
For small mouth bass suspending off bottom, can you drop shot and bring up rig so you are abit above them. Does the weight spook them. Does any one know. Thanks from northern ontario
You've pretty much described every day here in florida during the summer ... lol. If you're not punching you're not catching fish, at least not the big boys down here ...
Not the hardest. Hardest would be a fast river like white waters. I'm killing the trout with lures. Second hardest? Frigid cold, windy night fishing with tsunami waves in the high rocks. Nothing works and it is absolutely miserable.
Thank you for the tips ! I am headed out tomorrow and it will be sunny/flat/calm -- so I will put these lures/baits in my box and give it a go !
Good luck!

yes! another tube fisherman! was starting to think I was the last one. right on man!
@seancline8130 can't beat um especially when the bite is tough.
thanks for sharing
@@seancline8130shhhh!!! Keep the secret, secret!
I love a drop shot rigged with a wacky style, small profile lure like a 4 inch Yum Dinger.
Awesome
🍺Finishing 23rd overall in MLF Invitational fantasy is solid🤠. Congrats👊🏻.
Not to shabby
Really good video Matt!
Thanks!
Was in my local Dick's the other day and what do you know? They've got the core tackle right there on the shelf! Sweet!
Yes sir!!!

That makes sense. Thanks Matt

It’s a great bait
thank you that is something that i have always wondered about
glad to help!
Very good info , loved it , thanks Matt
Glad you enjoyed it!
I hate those days. Of course I hate the heat and sun. So sunny with no breeze. That's every day from mid-June to mid-September where 8m at
can get steamy!
Awesome video!!! Great tips!! Stay Safe & God Bless!! 🤠👍
Thanks! You too!
Thanks.
You're welcome
Thank you bro

Slick calm sunny conditions today. Targeted offshore brush piles with a bass pro 1/2oz XPS cover jig. Tore em up.
Sounds great!

The old school power worm is awesome!
Yep
Great advice. Plastics to cover. Texas rig to reduce snags.
Right on
Good advice Matt!
Glad it was helpful!
Great baits Matt 🤛👍
Thanks 👍
Thanks Matt ,
thanks!
Great tips.
thanksd!
Thank you

Hey Matt, great info. By the way, I bought some of those Picasso ned jigheads and love them, paired with the Lil General.
they are great!
Great advice. Dealing with those conditions now in Florida. Dead still, and a steamy, miserable hot box.
Best of luck!

Yes but go translucent and retrieve fast
Topwater in the shade or running a slow (white) curl tail on a 1/8 jig.
Yep
Flat blue bird conditions during the hottest conditions im throwing topwater early in morning to mid morning
topwaters can be good too!

Make sure the hook point is buried/skin hooked to keep the worm from sliding

Yes but try a hover rig in that situation

Fish early and then go to the pool😅
Haha
Then fish late after a day at the pool.
tubes are good.
yep
The only lure that works in the summer ….. wait for it !!….
Grenades !!
haha
Silly goose!!!
Tubes rigged stupid style work good for me👍
Right on
Does color make a difference? I notice your plastics where all dark.
i think it can
👍👍👍👍👍

can be good!

fast water is the easiest IMO
Considering this is a bass fishing channel…. Your comment is totally irrelevant.
@@rm709maybe he’s killing the trout and then using them for bass bait 😂

For some reason none of this applies to California....
