Man I will say this is the best content on RUclips at this point man. We get to see every detail of what someone does. Yea fish catching is nice but show me finding fish. And that’s what you’re doing, great job as always Johnny.
This raw content is the deal. Watching you go through the process of finding fish, failing on several spots and finally finding and catching fish is priceless.
I’m telling ya, these unedited vids are the best. Anyone, considering they have like electronics, can learn how to catch these finicky bass. I’m a fellow Arkansan from Fayetteville and been fishing Beaver Lake for 25+ years. My PB on Beaver was an 8.25 caught in the Hickory creek area during the spawn. Thanks again Jonny
This style of video is way more helpful than those that just cut to people reeling in fish after fish. Understanding the thought process that goes on to actually locate and find fish is so helpful and I can put these techniques to use on the water and hopefully catch more fish. Thank you for doing these and yes please keep this style of video coming!
You are a legend. After getting my first end-game boat with real modern electronics, your videos are a game changer. Seeing how you evaluate things and react to them is critical and you do it better than anyone out there.
Love this format. It’s the real deal, hearing your thought process. Casting, feeling the bite, settling the hook are all important. But, you have to find the fish first. Your videos have helped me immensely. Thanks.
I love this style of videos. It shows the reality of fishing vs the perception we get from watching most RUclipsrs. Great insight on what your thought process is and what you are seeing on your graph at the same time. Please do more of these.
I really love this video. I get to practice reading sonar while listening to your commentary. it's so much easier to orient myself and see what you're seeing. Thank you!
I know these probably don’t get the view count you need but they are awesome videos! Easily the best fish help content on RUclips. Thanks man. Keep it up!
I just want to say I am a big fan of these long format videos. I watch so many videos with good information, but still I get out on the water and blank out because its hard to put it all together. I love being able to see unedited exactly what you do once you get on the water to find fish.
Love to see this type video on a natural lake with a lot of grass. Most interested in locating bass on side imaging on the deep weed edges. This is a very educational format.
Johnny thanks for this video. I've been in this game for decades but just started to use DS, SI and 2D. However I feel better now that you proved some lakes just have a lot of clutter so to speak. Excellent show as usual sir. God bless
Hey, good video it shows you better be ready to grind boy, I love the days when I see 100 boats out there and nobody caught anything makes you wonder thanks
I don't watch these all at once most of the time. It's a time thing for me. Love em though, keep it up. I hope you do one over here on Bull Shoals someday.
Man it looks like you’re on Ft Loudoun in Knoxville minus the grass you talk about. I’ve noticed I waste A LOT of time fishing those “cluttered” areas. This video is a lot of help to me. Thanks 👍👍
Made it to the end! The livescope shots are not that helpful for me (I have a cheaper sonar unit for my kayak), but for years I've been convinced all of the clutter I see on my screen is either due to a poor quality unit or user error. This video helped me realize a lot of it may be fishing our dirty lakes here in OK. Great stuff!
At 1:29:36, Take a look at the 7+ bass that started to follow the bass you hooked into toward the surface. Several appeared to be pretty good sized and with the reaction they showed, at least a few of them should have been very easy to coax into biting by either jigging the bottom as you did for the first hookup, or swimming swimming the same jig trailer or a swimbait over the top of them. Wouldn't hurt to throw a large 6-8" soft or wood, jointed swimbait to target the really big bass. They will also catch some smaller very agressive bass at times.
man, the hustle you put in to your camera combinations and editing is ridiculous. It's hard to explain how much work it takes to make watchable content, much less seamless transitions with multiple screens and separate cameras. I drive over this lake quite a bit on the way to muddier stumpier places. Fun watching a video from there.
About 35min in Jonny I saw all I needed to see with those fish set up right on that break and a few appeared to be relating to the bottom, probably feeding, up on the top. I gotta schedule some days off work to go fishing.
I like watching this type of video and watched it all the way till the end, I don’t watch other videos where they say they going to teach you and all they do is roll up on a spot and catch fish. BTW I live in Bentonville, do you ever take a viewer out? I catch a lot of bass while crappie fishing and could show you some good spots😁
Thank you for this RUclips content. it has greatly helped me improve my fishing! I was wondering which setting you use to display the length of your sidescan on your Navionics map.
You mentioned a couple of times that the bass were either set up or not set up correctly for a specific lure, like a crankbait. I would like to see a video dedicated to showing us on screen shots what constitutes bass being set up correctly for differently type of lures. Again, thanks for the on the water videos with screen shots of SI, DI, 2D and FFS. 360 would be great as well.
Good video! Was wondering if you use 2d on plane much and if so, could you do a video on that? If it has been done, could you post a link to it please?
My man, thanks for all you do.... Is it possible that you do and indepth review of the new UHD2. I HAVE also an FS 9 elite....I don't like mine and want to go with the GARMIN 93SV UHD2. as my main unit in dash. I contacted lowrance and I have a bad transducer out the box. I do like that the Lowrance seems to be much more customizable with the display screens for speed, temp, etc. Does the Garmin do that??
Ive been a sub for years now. Tbh ive kinda gotten away from your super graphic annimated instructional videos and really moved toward these long form videos. Idk why these appeal to me more now.
Not sure what species those fish were. I’m also not sure how hard the thermocline had set in so they may be bass. Everything I caught was above 17ft though .
Great video Jonny!!!! Do you use the maps that come with your garmin units or do you buy other maps for it? My echomap 73sv maps are sometimes up to 10ft off in depth compared to my sonar and I don't know how to fix this issue or do I need to buy other maps for my unit
I’ve been using the default maps on the unit and they’re pretty good on my lakes. I have a Navionics card as well but the charts are pretty much the same on most lakes, but some of the smaller lakes have more detail on the Navionics card.
Maybe I'll look into that card Thanks for the reply man. Definitely the most helpful youtube channel for helping someone learn how to catch offshore bass!!!
Need to tune your live scope better. You should be able to see your bait splash down on the water, watch it sink, and follow it as you retrieve it. Fish coming to, following, and hitting the bait should be easily seen. Other than the previous comment, your content and presentations are great.
This is fishing in the real , like this fellow said you don’t go out uncut an all of sudden catch these ledge fish it’s tough for sure Tennessee river is the same , most of the time when I fish Tennessee river if I see them off bottom alittle I’ll drag a c rig or throw me a drop shot seems to work for me
Really enjoyed the video today. Seeing what your seeing and hearing your thought are great. I’d have a lot of questions to ask but I’ll narrow down to one at the time. With Down/ Side scan and FFS I’ve kinda gotten away from 2D sonar and I see you rely on it by your videos. What advantage to do feel your getting that the other views don’t give you?
There was a lot of sediment and debris in the water, which caused to screen to look cluttered. If I took my sensitivity down on forward facing sonar, I wouldn't be able to track my bait because the return on a 3/8oz jighead would be too weak. If I took it down on traditional sonar, I would filter out fish. In situations like this, I just try to ignore the clutter and focus on the dots and arches that look like bass. Not the easiest thing to do, but not every situation will give you perfect images.
Yes. When I first got to the spot, my boat was probably sitting 20-40ft off the edge of the ledge and I was casting up on the ledge at a 20-40 degree angle. After I caught a few fish, I did change my angle to try something new to get more bites which paid off with a few extra fish.
Please don’t feel bad about not finding fish quickly! You are showing us stuff we never see on RUclips! Therefore it’s the best content ANYWHERE!!
💯 agree!
Man I will say this is the best content on RUclips at this point man. We get to see every detail of what someone does. Yea fish catching is nice but show me finding fish. And that’s what you’re doing, great job as always Johnny.
I appreciate that! More to come!
These on the water videos with screen record are hands down the best content I've seen in a while! Keep it coming bro!
Thanks! Will do!
Truly educational videos, not just entertainment with no education
These kinds of videos can really help you become a better fisherman

Once again, an outstanding video. Thanks Jonny!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Really enjoyed this that much I watched it twice. Loads of fantastic insight. Thank you for sharing.

I have a few lakes in my area with deeper weed edges. I’ll film a video in this style about weed edges in the next couple of months.
@@FishtheMoment Thanks! Looking forward to that.
Johnny thanks for this video. I've been in this game for decades but just started to use DS, SI and 2D. However I feel better now that you proved some lakes just have a lot of clutter so to speak. Excellent show as usual sir. God bless
Thank you Jonny. If I can have only one channel on the either RUclips for bass fishing , your FTM long version will be my choice.
I appreciate the support!
I love this format, you could speed up the boat rides ... great videos 👍👍
Glad you enjoyed! That’s a great idea. I’ll speed up the boat rides in future videos.
Loving these videos, Johnny!

Great video. You proved that bass fishing requires a lot of hard work to be successful.
Absolutely! Glad you enjoyed.
Awesome. I have a Triton too with a 150. Ty for sharing
This content is very helpful. Thank you
Thanks for the show.
Love the format and pro editing 😊
Glad you like it!
Great content as always! It would be nice to see a long format video with < 4ft vis and no forward scan in use. Lots of us still in that boat.

Same at my Karwatha Lovesick Lake .huge balls of bait fish ,perch shad, crappie, sunfish
Thank you for this very informative video

THIS IS REAL FISHING . THE WAY WE REAL BASS FISHERMEN NO IT IS AND WHAT WE EXPECT IT TO BE UNTIL WE DO FIND THE FISH
At 29:25 what was that on the right side scan around 20? Sunken boat?

You can find the specs in the video description

Hi, when will you be adding the guides for GT56 and LVS34 guides
Mike Swofford Great video ? the fish at one point you find at 47 ft. the themocline you established was around 17ft. would the fish be active
Not sure what species those fish were. I’m also not sure how hard the thermocline had set in so they may be bass. Everything I caught was above 17ft though .
@@FishtheMoment Thanks for answering

What specific depth finder and live scope are you using?
i cant see your bait on livescope .if possible can you point it out thanks great vid
Do you think the settings need to be adjusted, like slightly less sensitive?
Enjoyed it do it on a highland lake
Here’s a video I posted a few weeks ago on Beaver Lake, a highland reservoir:

I wonder if all the extra fish are just BIG shads? Maybe those small yellow belly stripers?
I’m pretty curious too. I just got an AquaVu camera and plan to add it to these videos in the future to see what’s actually happening under the water
Is your blue contour set at 10ft? Can u explain why? Thanks in advance
Is that the navionics map?
❤ it
Thanks for watching!
Are you from Oklahoma? I live in Lawton Oklahoma.
How do you get the distance markers /circle (don’t know what it’s called) on your map?
Try under Fishing Chart Menu - Layers - My Vessel -Heading Line - Display / Distance to set your preference - Angle Marker ON
I'm assuming you use Garmin.
I thought "graphing" was when you use quick draw or auto chart.
Need to tune your live scope better. You should be able to see your bait splash down on the water, watch it sink, and follow it as you retrieve it. Fish coming to, following, and hitting the bait should be easily seen. Other than the previous comment, your content and presentations are great.

Here’s a video that explains why I use 2D sonar and the difference between Down Imaging and 2D sonar.

Just curious, why don't turn down the gain.
There was a lot of sediment and debris in the water, which caused to screen to look cluttered. In situations like this, I just try to ignore the clutter and focus on the dots and arches that look like bass. Not the easiest thing to do, but not every situation will give you perfect images.
The end!
Don’t you recommend 30° casting angle to ledges when fish set up like this
Yes. When I first got to the spot, my boat was probably sitting 20-40ft off the edge of the ledge and I was casting up on the ledge at a 20-40 degree angle. After I caught a few fish, I did change my angle to try something new to get more bites which paid off with a few extra fish.
Nobody talks about or does anything with the UHD2 Garmin reviews anywhere on RUclips that is anything close to Lowrance models.
Compaired to FFS, side imaging is just structure viewing.
Do you follow Buck Perry? You chose not to pay attention to the thermocline if he always catches fish in 30 40 50 ft of water
lets see a spinnerbait vid
lol, looks like me fishing. no fish with a perfect theory
Stop complaining,fish!!!
Livescoping - Boooooooo
without electronics you would be F_______D, video game fishing is NOT FISHING, I for one can not wait until it is OUTLAWED IN TOURNAMENTS!!!!!!!!!
