220 mcg iodine
How many mg of iron needed? Did she say or did I miss it?
Hello, know any prenatal vitamins that have this? Thank you!
@@dianaaguilar5395 I take the Olly essential prenatal vitamin, and Nordic Naturals DHA supplement with 480mg DHA and 205mg EHA to meet all of the needs!
I find this video to be very helpful I am in my first trimester of pregnancy this is my 1st pregnancy so I'm glad to really know all of this information when choosing a prenatal vitamin
Glad it was helpful!
@@NatalieCrawfordMD where your clinic is?
Congratulations on your pregnancy ❤️
Thanks for the details on methyl folate vs folic acid. I’m taking both!
That's awesome! Very few brands have both
@@HelloEllement I’m taking two different brands, one with folic acid in the AM and one with methylfolate in the PM. Probably overkill 😂
@@luludanzighey can you please name the brands you took? Is it possible to take too much?
Hello, could you tell me what you would recommend as far as Omega 3 for individuals that have fish and seafood allergies?
There are algae-based vegan versions for Omega-3.
Thanks for this video. I took 800mcg folic acid before pregnancy 😢. And during my first week. Is that too high?
The safe upper limit for folate is 1000 mcg per day according to the NIH so that should be fine. Excess is excreted for this particular vitamin!
Thanks
I have a mutation of the MTHFR gene and was told methylated folate was better for me?
Is it ok to take folic acid and iron in first trimester?
folic acid is a must in first trimester!!!
What gummy prenatal did you take? Can you suggest some gummy versions please. Thanks
I watched this channel months before I actually got pregnant. My partner and I were still trying. And you have guided me through the whole process and you don’t even know how helpful your information has been. Now that I am expecting, I casually choose the videos that speak to what I am going through right now. I am so grateful. My OBGYN has literally been saying the same things you have been saying throughout some of your videos. 😊
Hi Dr!!! I got pregnant at 38 naturally, but only after taking Vitamin D. I did not even know that could make a difference!!!
Did you take it in addition to your prenatal vitamin?.
Dear Natali, it would have been great if you did one more video for your PCOS patients, what vitamins and supplements we should add to our daily routine if we have PCOS and we are trying to ovulate. Thank you so much for all the work you do!
I also look forward to it
Inositol has shown promise in improving insulin sensitivity and regulating menstrual cycles (Source: The inositols and polycystic ovary syndrome, 2016). Omega-3 fatty acids like DHA and EPA have anti-inflammatory properties that may benefit PCOS (Source: Effectiveness of Omega-3 fatty acid for polycystic ovary syndrome: a systematic review and meta-analysis, 2018), and vitamin D supplementation can help improve hormonal balance.
Love your videos! Currently on my TTC journey, wanted to see if you can make a video on which vitamins men should be taking when TTC, or what ingredients to look for, my OBGYN said he should be taking men’s multivitamins and add vitamin d but I don’t know I feel that there’s not a lot on that subject!
Thank you for this video I'm sure it helped a lot of people! Folic Acid and Folate has been an issue for a lot of people. And thanks for breaking down the other vitamins as well.
Thanks for the informative video. My prenatal has 800 mcg folate. If I use additional 666 (400 folic acid) pill, would that be too much?
It's a water soluble vitamin... You will just pee out the extra. That is what I'm doing 😉. Would rather have expensive pee and be safe.
totally fine
@@NatalieCrawfordMDwould this be okay even at doses of 1000mcg folate + 500mcg folic acid? Thank you 🙏🏼
Do you recommend otc prenatals for someone with MTHFR gene mutation ? I would love to hear your thoughts and explanations on MTHFR on someone TTC!
Research 10x.
What always confuses me is that on the back of bottle it always says "Folate (Folic Acid)." Since it says folate I thought that was methylfolate and I went searching everywhere for bottles that just said folic acid on the back but none of them did! So now I'm thinking that the terms folate and folic acid are interchangeable and if it was methylfolate it would specifically say so?
That’s what I’m wondering too
yes methylfoalte will say so
Im loving your videos. Very informative and easy to understand.
With that I just want to add my 2 cents about Iron, Folic Acid and B12. I have chronic gastritis and I've used Pantoprazole (a proton pump inhibitor) for years now. I started to have iron deficiency anemia and my folic acid levels were shameful and B12 was decreasing too. Well, turns out the stomach medication, after so many years of use, was interfering with my body ability to properly "digest" these vitamins and minerals.
I was able to stop using the medication every day and started only every other day and all my levels have recovered to normal levels (although folic acid is still.. low... but that's my fault for not eating well)
Not saying any of you that take proton pump inhibitor should just stop taking them to have these things recovered. No no no. But my take might help you figure out a few things :)
Hello! I’m looking for a prenatal vitamin, and am back n forth not knowing what’s best and what to buy..
please send help
First time getting pregnant and I’m lost with what’s the best I can take.
Thank you all in advanced ❤
Hi Natalie! Found this video very helpful! I have read some things about how gummy vitamins may not truly have the labeled/promised amount of vitamins in them that they say they have…suggesting that regular prenatal pills may be more reliable/effective than gummies. Thoughts? Love my gummy prenatal but want to make sure they’re reliable.
I trust gummies!
Can you have too much folic acid (1000 methyfolate from ritual and 400 from folic acid natures bounty)
No this is fine. We put high risk patients on much more than this without harm
Iv'e seen a study discussing that taking FA in the first trimester helps prevent neural tube defects, but taking FA into the 2nd and 3rd trimesters could have more neurological risks, especially when taken in excess. Do you have any thoughts on reducing FA intake into the 2nd and 3rd trimesters? One big reason I ask is because a lot of Prenatal supplements I see seem to have close to 1000 mcg of FA.
Thank you! I was comparing prenatals this weekend and it’s overwhelming. I thought gummies wouldn’t be as ideal but I gained some confidence hearing that you went that route.
So glad!
This is so helpful but I am struggling to find a prenatal that meets all of this criteria! Has anybody found one? I don’t mind if I have to take a couple extra supplements with it but ideally wouldn’t need to take several supplements on top of the prenatal!
Check out Ellement, the first personalized prenatal supplement!
I’m taking the Olly Prenatal with folic acid and DHA - you can find it at Target :)
Hi Dr! What about if you have the MTHFR mutation? I have heard folic acid is not recommended in that case since your body cannot metabolize it. Thank you!
this has not been shown in any study to be the case - I usually have my patients take both I this scenario
There are very few brands on the market which include both Folic Acid and Methylfolate. Based on our data, some brands which do include both within the prenatal include Prenate, Vitafol, New Chapter and Ellement.
What prenatal would you recommend, please?
Hi, I am new here but already watched so many of your videos, thank you so much for the informative videos, they helped me alot ❤
I have one question , i was wondering if magnesium citrate is safe during pregnancy?
Magnesium Citrate is a common form for supplements. It's generally well-tolerated and is favored for high bioavailability. (Ellement provides a blend of 50% as DiMagnesium Malate and 50% as Magnesium Citrate. Combining different forms of magnesium can provide a broader spectrum of bioavailability, ensuring optimal absorption and utilization in the body.)
The best would be USANA’s Prenatal Cellsentials!
So so helpful! Clears alot of my research up on folic acid and folate! Taking both for sure next time around . Praying for my rainbow baby! 🌈
And you will carry your rainbow baby soon. I pray on it. Don’t lose hope and stay blessed ❤
@@sadecoco1502thank you so much. ❤ needed to hear this today! 🌈 wishing you health happiness and love!
Hey Natalie! It's seriously tough to come across ones that deliver solid information. I really appreciate how you dive right into the good stuff and offer credible insights. Thank you so much!
I’ve been taking prenatal gummy vitamins for many years before TTC. I also take a separate slow release iron because normal irons make me sick as a dog.
I use the lucky iron fish and never feel nauseated from it.
How about MethylFolate? If yes, how many dosage? Thanks doc.
Hi Natalie!
My folate 1,360 mcg (as metafolin =/ L5 methylterahydrofolate 800mcg)
Plus taking folic acid 800mcg
If I take both, is there a side effect of taking too much?
Ritual prenatal has methyfolate, would you recommend taking folic acid as well?
Yes
Thanks for creating this video! What do you think about magnesium? Is it necessary to get additional supplements? I read that you need 350-450 mg of magnesium per day and most prenatals don't meet this need.
Magnesium is a dense supplement so most multivitamins will not have as much as some people need. We focus on personalized prenatals and can adjust dosage based on pregnancy stage.
Is Olipop safe in pregnancy?? I’ve heard mixed reviews
Hi Natalie, thanks for sharing suav a valuable information with us. My husband ordered prenatal multivitamin from Garden of Life (Organics )from Amazon . I am not sure about this multivitamin whether it wouldve sufficient for the growth of baby. I will ve grateful if you suggest some plant based prenatal multivitamins for me.
I’m trying to get hair growth 😏…I do want a child but haven’t found the right person unfortunately 😩
Hi Dr. I am glad that you are here to inform us all the important information about this. I am ttc so I am taking prenatal vitamins w/c is the EU natural Conception Fertility & Multivitamins. And it has Myo-inositol. My question is can I still take a separate Myo-inositol & D Chiro inositol together. Hope to hear from you, need your advice. Thanks!
Studies have shown it is a good idea to take Myo and D Chiro inositol together!
Hi 😊 can you share what gummie you took?
Hello! Please help me. I have trouble swallowing pills, which prenatal vitamins gummies did you take? Is is halal or vegetarian?
I take prenatal with 800mcg folic acid. I have having diarrhea. Is it because of higher folic acid?
This is really helpful, I took notes 😆 how far in advance of starting to ttc should it start taking prenatal vitamins? I've heard 3-6 months but I'm not sure
How much b12 can we take in a day ? I was prescribed 2000 mcg a day , is it too high or okay ?
Thank ypu vwry infomative
Great video, I’m still confused with methyfolate versus folic acid, my sister is a doctor in Brazil and she convinced me to not take folic acid and I got so confused 😢 thank you for this video
Can folate cause postpartum depression?
You recommend COQ10 supplementation when TTC, is it also recommended to be continued during pregnancy?
Please put an Arabic translation
This was so helpful and easy to understand. Thank you!
Folate from nutritional yeast is this good
Hi, what if it says, folic acid (as L-methylfolate)?
Pink stork prenatal are really good
How do you feel about Raw milk?
Do you have a prenatal recommendation for someone like myself who has Factor five Leiden?
Tyfs, I didn’t know iron was not available in gummy vitamins 😊
Could you please tell me what is the color of the scrubs you are wearing in this video because you are positively radiant & I love the color purple ❤
Thank you so much for your video! ❤️When I was visiting my family in Europe, my gynecologist told me to start taking folic acid for pregnancy preparation. But she mentioned it’s better to take medicine with folic acid (ex Iodilife), not supplements. I can’t find information about the difference between them anywhere here in the US. Is it ok just to buy any type of folic acid from pharmacy?
❤❤❤
Hi doctor is there is any treatment for rectal prolapse without surgery
Hi Dr. Natalie, is Folinic Acid (as calcium folinate) the same as Folic Acid?
hi Natalie,thank you.
what can you say about a prenatal multivitamin without vitamin A? is it better compared with vitamin A?
Thanks for this helpful video! What dosage of iron do you recommend in the second trimester?
Is it okay for me to take prenatal vitamins before trying to conceive? If so how many weeks or months before I actually try to get pregnant?
From everything I have learned, they suggest at least 3 months before trying to conceive.
Is it ok to use melatonin sleep lotion like dr teals while pregnant?

I have PCOS and have insulin resistance. Last year lost 50lb and changed my life style hoping it will help me get pregnant. I am still not able to convince. 😢 loosing my hope
Hi, I also have PCOS and don't ovulate. I consulted with an endocrinologist who prescribed me 1500mg of metformin per day. Initially, I found this dosage to be too high and stopped after taking just one capsule per day for a week. However, after researching, I found a supplement called Ovofolic. I've been using it for a month now and have noticed significant changes. Additionally, the same manufacturer produces prenatal vitamins called Medifertil, which I've been taking alongside Ovofolic for a month.
I prayed, and by the grace of God 🙏, I found this treatment, leading to my pregnancy when I had lost all hope.
@@jimenaotalvarootalvaro3045 I take inositol and Berberine instead of medication. It works the same for me as metaformin. I actually was able to get pregnant and have a healthy baby now. I tried keto diet and started intermittent fasting, it worked for me.

My prenatal says folate (folic acid 400mcg) is that methyl folate? I’m so confused 😢😢
that is folic acid
I went with what my doctor suggested, which is your basic prenatal from the grocery store you get your weekly groceries from. Costco store brand prenatal will be the same as Winco or Walmart store brand and so on. I have discovered, through trial and error, that the iron in multivitamins will make me violently ill unless I eat a carb along with it, so cereal, chips, toast, a bagel, rice or a LOT of veggies does the trick.
I’m currently getting tested for a blood disorder what causes me to produce too much iron what would you recommend for me???
I assume avoiding taking extra iron supplements but can this cause issues with conceiving?
