As a sports fan, there's another from Bob that you will definitely recognize called "Like A Rock". You will recognize it from the commercials, but when you listen to the entire song, you will hear some very deep, life-lesson type lyrics. One of those songs that every human who has ever walked the planet and lived past the age of 30 can definitely relate to.

Thanks for a great reaction of Bob doing Old Time Rock n Roll. Enjoyed your enthusiasm. You will love Like A Rock. Chevrolet used Bob’s record to sell thousands of Chevy trucks. And in the process Bob donated money to laid off autoworkers. 👏👏

Not only did the song like a rock make Chevy sell alot of trucks but a recent tornado that hit southern Oklahoma almost got a hold of a Chevy that motto came flooding back.
Because the driver of the truck kept going even after the tornado.

Back in the 70’s, saw Bob Seger open for KISS with Ted Nugent at the Anaheim Stadium in California! Seger was very good, a great storyteller in music! Tom Cruise made Old Time Rock n Roll popular when it was featured in the pop cult classic “Risky Business”. 🧦😁

  • @helmutvogel901

Yup, I knew there was a reason why I love watching your videos. I was born in 1960, and in the 70's, there was two kinds of music : rock and roll, and disco. And the only time guys 'liked' disco, was to dance with the girls at school dances or parties, because the girls wouldn't dance to anything else. But if you checked any guys' record collection, I can guarantee that you would find very few disco records, if any. And Turn The Page and this song are my two favourite Bob Seger songs, in fact this was pretty well my anthem song throughout my life, cause I STILL feel this way about music (though I will admit there are a few 'disco' songs I actually enjoy today. But I would NEVER have admitted that in the 70's. Or 80's.)
And yes, this was from a very famous movie, and that person sliding in wearing his boxers and shirt, was a very yoiung Tom Cruise. Not sure of which movie offhand.

There were tons of sax solos in the late 50's and early 60's, and even some in the mid and later 60's. Try Junior Walker ("Shotgun", and "I'm a Roadrunner") ; "Tequila" by The Champs ; "Baker Street" by Gerry Rafferty ; " Honky Tonk(parts1and2) by Bill Doggett ; "Harlem Nocturne" by The Viscounts; "Wild Weekend" by The Rockin' Rebels for just a small sample of songs with sax solos.

My favorite artist of ALL TIME!!! My Godfather looks just like him, as a youngster him and my older brothers had me fooled thinking he was him... Enjoy Mr Seger, you will definitely have ALL of his songs on your Playlist for anything you're doing: car rides, relaxing at home, parties, bbq's, etc ANYTHING.... He's the best storyteller and has one of the most unique, recognizable voices EVER!!!!

Two African-American songwriters submitted their original version of the song, and asked Seger to record it for his band’s next album. Seger did not like the lyrics, but he did like the music for the song.
Bob Seger wrote new lyrics for the song, but chose to let the two songwriters get the full songwriting credit for the song, because he did not believe the song was going to be a hit.
Bob Seger And The Silver Bullet Band went to the recording studio in Muscle Shoals, Alabama to record “Old-Time Rock And Roll”. To Seger’s surprise, Capitol Records chose to release the song as a single, and it became one of the band’s greatest hits. The song was played frequently on radio stations across America, and it became a hit again in 1983, when the song was re-released for the “Risky Business” Soundtrack Album. The song is also a big hit on jukeboxes all across America.
