- At this time of year, juvenile swans are being kicked out of their nest by the parents! So, as of late, WAF have had quite a few unusual and exciting swan rescues to attend.
However, in this next rescue, the swan wasn't putting up much of a fight as Simon approached. In fact, it was being rather lazy!
After an overnight stay at the WAF hotel, this juvenile was taken to a lovely lake, not far from the rescue location.

i think word got around about Simon and Wildlife aid, so the swan had decided to test it's luck if they would come and he would get a lovely stay at the sanctuary. He didn't want to leave.

The swan rescues are my favorite. They're so cranky, it makes me laugh.

I'm pretty sure he wasn't lazy at all - he just knew what he wanted! The plan was - get myself found by a few nice people so that they would call in Simon. Next step: show a little resistance when getting caught (he wouldn't want for the humans to figure out his scheme!) though it can't be too much - he didn't want to discourage people from taking him xD
Last step: get himself settled in the nice 5* hotel and stay there!
And the people ruined it by taking him back to the wild (hence why he was doing his best to avoid capture then and not the first time)! Now he needs to just figure out how to make Simon keep him - get ready for round two with this fella xD
Wait a minute. I'm taking notes so I can use the same technique to get someone to take Me in for a night of security, good food, medical care, a warm pool, and delivery to the lake! Who thinks animals are dumb?

I often see Canada geese at my local pond , but I'm not sure about Egyptian geese:-)

He startet to geht hissy, when Simon told him, he would go back to the wild... Mayve he wanted an easy home, or he was on vacation, just hanging out 😉 The ending showed, the swan realy was not convinced by the whole "wildlife and freedom" stuff 🦢🦢

Nice. Hope it doesn't think all humans are okay now though! It can pay a price for that. I used to walk my dog by a lake that liked to chase the trusting ones. I knew for a fact he'd never hurt them so i let him just to keep them on alert in case real danger ever came around. One day he caught one with his arms, looked back at me like "OMG! What do I do!??" So I told him to let it go and he promptly did.

@5 months ago a duck was leading 5/7 kids across a busy road from a school ground to a council estate with no known water course.. I stopped and Hazarded a warning and luckily the oncoming was sharp minded and did too!
What do you do there? Catch or just let them go to the dogs and cats of the Estate?
In Salford. Eccles Old Road. Just past the Hospital.. No Lakes or rivers there!
