I recently found out that geese are unconditionally, with NO exception, afraid of the sound of a Craftsman S205 chainsaw starting up. Every time I turn it on, every goose within audible range, no matter how angry, immediately stops what they’re doing, gets up, and flies away. It’s just a consistent thing.

Born 1952. There had been fear Canadian geese were going extinct. Much earlier (before my birth) a guy named Jack Miner stepped up; but I remember people talking about it. Established feeding grounds, started banding birds, keeping records that formed the basis of the U.S. / Canadian migratory bird treaty. He was very successful.
    Maybe too successful!

I worked in an urban irrigation project for a few years and we had a lot of geese and ducks. The old timers carried spray bottles with a diluted mixture of water and ammonia with them, when the geese got aggressive they would spray the attackers on the chest of back with the smelly stuff. They would immediately stop and retreat. After a while the aggressive birds learned to avoid the guys with the bottles.

Bread is bad to feed birds, because besides nutrition problems, it causes algae blooms in lakes and rivers, killing huge amounts of fish and occasionally killing all the fish and animals like frogs in a lake. The water goes dead.

Growing up in southeastern Virginia, the Canada Geese migrated back and forth. Now they stay year round. I read an article a couple of years ago that some Americans concerned about the Canada Goose might become endangered, so they raised many of them domestically. This, as well as the vast number of detention ponds built in housing areas, have contributed to these Canada Geese not migrating.

On the last few weeks of her life she learned how to get on our porch and constantly honk till we came out and pet her/feed her.

These kids my age at the park convinced me to go practice running around the merry go round to turn it while they all went and played. I charged over thinking they'd fly away like crows do in my backyard, and got mugged by geese. They took my pb & j (yes i guess i was going to run spinning up the merry go round with it), and just mercilessly attacked me until this park ranger came over and helped me 😂. Now sometimes when i go down to the local park and sit by the water, if geese start to walk up to me i chase them away. And i think they know me now, because one time i grabbed one by the neck and threw it in the water because as i was walking back to sit on the drain. It charged after me

I remember like 2 years ago, i was at my college, we have a bunch of them here in PA and their waste is everywhere at the campus.
I was just sitting on a bench near the lake, waiting for my next class to start. I was eating a poptart and out of no where it just landed on the bench by me.
And it just stared at me for like a minute, it wasnt looking at me but my food, i decided not to risk it, to just sit the poptart down and back away.
As soon as i backed away it took the poptart and flew away, i didnt want the smoke, and i feared for my life.

For some reason I’ve never had to deal with goose aggression, I’ve come across and passed many geese and they seem to be either disinterested in chasing me or somewhat comfortable with my presence. Funnily enough I now incubate and raise geese! It started when I adopted 2 embden geese that had been abandoned on land near a house I moved into with my mother. We quickly earned their trust and eventually decided to start getting more geese and now even incubating and hatching goose eggs and they are so incredibly loving and loyal when you earn their trust. We also get some Canadian geese around here, and they are very friendly toward us and even eat out of our hands, it’s great!

When i lived in europe, near our home, there were river canals and there were always geese around there. and would hiss & chase people and me around if we tried to get close to the water.
There was this refreshing meme i watched the other day where this dude man grabs the geese's neck and slams the geese into the ground. pure bliss.

I work in a steel yard at nights alone, and there are 3 geese that walk around the steel yard. At first they would make honking sounds letting me know I got too close (I can't always see them in the dark) but now they let me walk within half a foot from them, it's insane.
Edit: now there are 4 geese, and 9 goslings... I had no idea they crapped that much man! It's every where!!!
