The cat can't see it, it's infrared. There's no way a cat would just stay put while a strong beam of light is trained on them, when it is pitch dark, too. If you shine a flashlight at a house cat in the middle of the night when the light is out (and please do not do this), the cat will dash away FAST. Let alone a wild cat that is already very wary of its environment.

We have an entirely black housecat which does not mind rain, and even on dry evenings comes home soaking wet. We live near the center of Amsterdam and suspect he goes for a splash in the canal.
Contrary to what most people believe, your average house cat can actually swim quite well if necessary. We found this out after we moved onto our boat and our more adventurous kitty fell in. My hubby didn’t even get the door to the swim platform open preparing to jump in after him and he was doggy-paddling straight to the dock and climbed right out! Thing is, we are apart of life. And life finds away... More new animals come into existence every year then animals go extinct. People seem to want to take this moral high ground and "save" all the animals.. But all they are really doing is interfering with natural selection and making the ecosystem much worse. I have a great appreciation for animals and life, I just also understand that it's not the hunting of animals that ends them. Even when we do tend to over hunt an animal, said animals food source sky rockets and then, that animal that was over hunted comes back because they breed well. Most of the whole green peace save the whales save the polar bears people are just spewing bullshit so they keep getting funded.. Do your own research.
@@Kinofspawn this is plainly wrong. Species do not pop out of the earth like that. There are plenty more extinct yearly than do evolve... evolving takes time, decimating to extinction like humans does usually not. Actually never heard from scienctists: new species has evolved.
@@Kinofspawn its not survival of the fittest when you drive past a fast food center (as an example). There's nothing hard about society anymore(at least in a first-world nation) which allows for people who, under harder conditions, would not be able to make it. There's going to be a correction in the human population when we begin to see the effects of water pollution, disease, etc. Hopefully triggering a series of events that leads to only the strongest of mankind surviving. Nature does have a way of correcting itself. If we alter the planet, so be it, but it comes at a price. Nothing we see was ever meant to last, and I think people should really acknowledge that.
@@HelloThere-xs8ss in the case of these fishing cats they're mostly being pushed out and hunted down by farmers and fisherman, who sell 99% of their products locally (most exported commercially sold seafood/fish in southeast Asia are from the area around Thailand and Vietnam). @@animationsandvnsbasil I've had several cats over the years each one with their own personalities. I find cats fascinating, hilarious, endearing, wonderful and if my husband was not deathly allergic to them I'd probably have one or two right now. It's interesting to watch their patterns and habits. My sister's cat, we call him the boxer kitty as he loves to get on his hind legs and box like a human. My own beloved Ciro that passed away 15 years now was my lover cat. He could lay on you and snuggle all day long. There are always reasons for why an animal will do something. Fear, anger, feeling like your are not paying attention to them, they get anxiety and yes even depression. As for the consequences, well my sister's cat will bite you on the calf (gentle) or swat (maybe not so gentle giving a little bit of claw) if you do not provide his favorite treat to him at the allotted time and as their human slaves, we comply. 😹
@Al Mujahid fee Al Jihadat fee Sabililah Well, I suppose they can get into a mood. Any animal can have behavioral moods just like humans and usually stemming from something that happened. For example I had a friend who's cat did not like to be touched from behind. He had to see your hand coming and even then could be skittish and bite you. Years of trauma from a previous owner. He had to be put on kitty meds to deal. As for feeding them if you own a pet (well really if you love pets they always own you not the other way around) that kind of does come with the territory. LOL

I hope they power through the "Anthropocene" and become Catwhales.

It's so incredible what kind of animals exist. I wish humans would not decimate species so we have more of these highly adapted creatures.
America and similar ways of life push the trend for other countries to decimate their ecosystem for profit. All consumers are guilty. Stop consuming
Other products like palm oil do have a global reach and a global demand however and that's something we can easily remedy by boycotting palm oil products.

you guys need to get night vision cameras.
that way you won’t disturb the cat with a flash, plus the cats won’t notice you’re there.

@Mehmet Sarikaya yes but still, light like that can really mess up their hunt. so i still recommend them to use night vision.

When I saw that one fishing cat who’s leg got taken away, limping around through the wild, already likely having a rough life before, now with the odds extremely against it I just broke down and cried. It wasn’t just that, but seeing that level of cruelty- which I know is so common- just tipped over the pile of things burdening me today, and I honestly couldn’t handle one more thing. I hate humans are so cruel to animals and anyone in general. 😞 we act like everything is ours for the taking.

I have had dozens of cats over the years, only had one that willingly went in the water. She would swim across the pool every day, and sit on the pool edge to snatch a bird in the yard. She was a seal point saimese. Lived 25 years.
I'm convinced some cats do it to wash themselves fully, my cat goes out in the rain sometimes or purposefully lets himself get wet so he can be patted dry and clean without having to get washed by me lol
Siamese and ragdolls seem to like water more than most. We bathed our elderly Siamese in warm water and it helped her with grooming and her arthritis. My current ragdoll will jump in the shower with me if I'm not careful and look at me wanting a bath.

House cats are like: "Yeah, that's a no for me, dawg."
Also House cats: "Human, get my food or suffer the consequences."
What consequences?
Al Mujahid fee Al Jihadat fee Sabililah I can debunk that, have you even ever had a cat? My cat never gets “moody”, he only claws if scared or angry, well he actually bites a lot more. Not as painful as a dog chomp.
LOL
