The entire "lifestyle" of the typical half ton truck guy is now becoming a huge luxury. I know a zillion working class guys who have ~50-60k trucks, ~30-40k walleye boats. I roughly know how much they make, and the math doesn't work. I often think how much more they'd enjoy life if they sold the truck, got a little Civic and a kayak. For many, those 12 hours days could become 6-8.

@@Jason-Samko I do believe in what I said, but I must admit I am very happy driving my Rubicon around! Especially when I’m enjoying the backcountry and the beauty it has to offer. However, I waited till I was 50 years old to buy my dream vehicle. When I was raising my family, I drove a 1992 Mustang GT 5.0 that didn’t have a heater for 10 years. The point you made in your video is buy a vehicle you can easily afford.
@DUNEATV agree. And my feelings are my own as well. I damn sure am not buying a used car or truck, or keeping one long. But I make sure any purchase fits my income comfortably and with my systems they cost me penny's on the dollar to own. and I have great respect for people that can buy and drive so fee miles they can keep a truck for 15 years. But I also hate to see the average family today with a 3k house payment, and 3k car payment combo. We see many living well beyond their capabilities today. Vehicle broke is a very big concern and couple that with today's astronomical house payments...crazy.
Ever since the pandemic, me and my wife have been having just one sedan as the sole vehicle. We sold our F150 as it stayed in the drive way longer than it was on the road. Guess what, so much money saved and one car worked out perfectly.
Yep i really like being debt free. Only bill i have is on the small amount of my gladiator i financed. Took me a long time and alot of work to get to this point. But I like being hete
still driving the 3k dollar truck i bought on halloween 2000.drove it 16 years.was so reliable & cheap to own.i restored it.still have less than 8500$ in it total in 24 years of ownership.left me set once when starter failed.maintenence is the key to longevity & very high milage potentials.still passes state inspection every time.i personally think people are insane with their money.they make good money, but give it all away.i needed a RELIABLE truck,& built one for 10% of what a new one cost.& im no genious, just been turning wrenches for 45 years.
We're lucky, we live in rural Pennsylvania. Houses and the cost of living are cheap here. My wife and I both have excellent jobs, so we have the money to spend 120-140,000 on cars every 5-8 years. I feel for people who aren't in that boat. I get the people who say,"well they need to make better financial decisions." Yes, you are right, but I know people who are happy with beaters, like most of us drive to work, but once they have kids, they want something they feel like won't leave them and their family on the side of the road.
See some people around here live in ragged house but have the best truck on the planet and pulling a bass boat that cost more than the truck. Truck broke and boat broke!
The high prices we are paying are a self-inflicted harm. Manufacturers have raised prices way above inflation bc the demand for SUVs and trucks is too strong. In other words, the obsession with big cars is getting us broke.
I deliver food and the shit I see. 350K homes and 70K truck and my medium size city has a median income of 42K. I’m like how the F are these ppl affording this? Phoenix is an hour away, so commuting to better jobs? Married with dual incomes?

We're now in a world where $550 per month is considered low. Not trying to pick on you, that is a good payment in today's world. I'm just butt hurt that $550 used to be the payment on a nice used luxury car.

Paid off my 2019 Tacoma last year. Hope to drive it for at least another 10 years.
I'm suppose to feel sorry for people spending $90,000 on a vehicle they don't need?
Yes😢

Some of those people are looking for happiness in their lives. They believe these vehicles will bring them that. It’s sad…

15 years ago I had a vacation home built...950 sq ft with a full basement 2 bedroom and it was $98,000 the price of a lot of cars today.😅

Same here.
Yep, they need those big trucks to pull those boats and campers that they only use twice a year. 😂
Enjoying the content Jason, another great video. Really puts things into perspective.
Glad you enjoyed it

I have 2 cars paid off and 0 credit card debt. I'll never pay these insane prices.
I’m almost there, happy for ya 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
I pay $1200 in rent for a 2 bedroom 2 bath 1 car garage when I moved in 5 years ago it was $750.
That's why I always pay cash. For those whose eyes are bigger than their wallet, settle for a Maverick rather than an F150.
Avoid Ford all together. Best to get a basic Frontier which will last forever.
I settle for the Honda Ridgeline. Love it😍
Ridgeline is a good choice.
