I had one for several years in the 1980s- the firsr car I ever bought. I paid $300. Oil sprayed from the engine into the air filter so I drilled a hole in the air filter cylinder and attached a hose. I cemented the hose to a glass cranberry juice bottle that rested in the engine compartment. After about 20 minutes of driving you needed to stop somewhere and empty the oil back into the engine. Doing this the car lasted a couple years. I later gave it to my girlfriend's mother and she abandoned it hahaha. Great car. I loved it.
I love this Celica in from child.I saw many times this Celica when i was child at Japan.I'm lives California for 4 years.I never see this Celica around the LA.
My father had a 74 Celica GT. Also red but with a black vinyl 1/2 top. It was a fun little car with decent mpg, but I was just a bit too young to drive it before he traded it.
This is what I got a red 74 with the slant nose, although mine looks like it's had some parts changed it has a center located clock center cluster, also a ST that might be why.
@@Maxdahl439 Same, well not everything but yeah its a bigger project than anything but also is my new dream car, I'd always rather have a cheap clean slate custom build over a collectable where you have to drop top dollar on scarce original details that don't make the thing any better.

I had the ST model of this exact car, same year and red, my senior year of high school in 1984 and throughout college. Love this!
I love that you have the original gas cap too.
I had the same car in mid 1980s - it was a green 74 GT with vinyl top. I painted it Guards Red - sold it a few years later in Oakland area.
miss my 74' GT. my first car(second owner).
I had the white version with red sport stripes. Loved driving it with the stick. It had good power and maneuverability.

when toyota made cool cars....not anymore
Hmmmm.... I think they might have taken maybe a little bit of British leyland’s styling 😂
Set one next to a first generation Camaro and look at the body lines.
