    Great video with nice, clear close ups which helps a great deal when you're a novice like I am trying to learn.

    Very nice job. I am currently building a three level storage shelf project using cleats . Fun to do.

      Thanks but just remember to put lighter objects on top like boxes of screws, etc unless you want to supplement with metal shelving hangers underneath at each stud for added support. Then you can put much heavier items on top! Thanks so much for your comment. :-)

      I'm glad you liked it! Just remember, these shelves are best for items that are fairly light. If you need to add heavier items you can add more support below.

      Thanks a lot! I appreciate your comment. Just remember this is for light objects, etc. If you want to put something like full paint cans or anything fairly heavy you could reinforce underneath with metal shelving brackets. Something like this would work well. www.homedepot.com/p/THE-ORIGINAL-GRANITE-BRACKET-18-in-Large-Shelf-Bracket-LSB-18x10/311400400

    A nail gun is better if you’re a professional or an experienced person that knows what he/she is doing. However, for beginners I would recommend using screws because they’re a whole lot easier to get out if you screw up. Also, if you’re using screws you probably want to use a 2x4 cleat instead of a 1x4 cleat because your drill will need more room to work than a nail gun. A drill cannot get that close to the sides.

    Why you wouldn’t have used 2”x4” cleats instead of pairing the 1”x4” s is beyond me. I wouldn’t feel too confident dropping a heavy load on the front edge of that shelf or using it as a pseudo workbench but it appears to suit your purposes well.

      Brian, good point but I don't place any heavy loads on the shelf. It's just for screws, etc. Light stuff.

    Is there a reason you used nails imstead of screws? Was it jist an ease ans speed thing?

    • @TotallyUniqueLife

      Hi, yeah pretty much. It was easy to use my brad nailer. You could always reinforce with screws of course. It's your preference. Thanks!

    what is the width of the shelf?

      @TotallyUniqueLife  4 года назад

      Daniel, I am so sorry. This comment was being held for review for some reason and I didn't see it. The width is 10 1/4". Sorry again for the late response. Did you end up creating a shelf?
      Best,
