Wipeout On Wipeout Hill

- This is an older recovery from last fall. A jeep rolled on Wipeout Hill on the Seven Mile Rim Trail. So we came in from the backside of the trail bear Hwy 313 cuz the road is easier and shorter getting into where the jeep was. Once on site we got it down the hill then hooked up to Trailmater and hauled it out to the Highway. Then we swapped trucks and used Ol Blue to get the jeep back to the shop where the customer then came and got it. Thank you everyone for watching and supporting us.

"I'll follow you"
That dude's always so funny 😁
"Let it roll, let it roll" Rory definitely knows the physics of how vehicles will react under extreme situtions and angles.
Oh yes he is bad ass when it comes to recovering a vehicle there is no doubt
Then why did he hook up the winch line when it was rolling towards him in the beginning?
@@politicalfisherman540
He needed the winch to get it going in the beginning, I'am guessing he left it there so he wouldn't need to climb up to un hook it..
@Donna 🗝 that's why I limit my Off Roading to dirtbikes and ATV's
@Donna 🗝 you shouldn’t have your daily on trails like that .. my dad always said if you can’t afford to fix it stay off the trails
Mike.. “look at that sad Jeep face”. Perfect
Took a hard smack to the face...
7:50 - And because you despise that winch, it'll never die.
I want a coworker like Mike. He’s able to bring lightness and positivity wherever he goes!
You hiring? I had the owner of my store belly laughing at 3am responding to a break in when we had $100k+ in damaged and stolen product.
@@Rbillionn Umm...He said "coworker", not "employee". Just Sayin'. 🙄
They definitely got some good one liners i this one...
@@Rbillionn i dunno, every time i asked a friend about work, i asked if ''you guys were hiring'', as in your place of employment. Made sense to me...
@@Rbillionn That's dark. lol.. Sign of the times.
For those who don't know, Trail Mater is set up for off road towing and Blue is set up for on road towing. It's a different rigging and lifting set up that Rory has explained in the past.
What a scary moment for both the original driver and for Sean when it started to roll!! I would have smashed the Brake Pedal as well!! Natural reaction. In fact an autonomic response!! Terrific spotting by Rory & great control of reflexes by Sean!! They make a terrific team!! Great video and actually nice to have out of sequence as it gives us a winter break-up!!
Yep, I would have puckered like a snare drum! Wow! Nice work, Sean!
If wheels are coming up pop it in neutral or push the clutch in it wouldn't have rolled over backwards if they did that
That is the hardest thing to teach young pilots of aircraft. Your instinctive move is generally the wrong thing to do when flying an airplane.
Unlike most performers you'll see Sean works without a net ladies and gentlemen!!!😬😳😯😲😋👍
Unfortunately it looked like the driver actually hit the gas when it started to tip...
I like how you got the footage from the group that filmed the rollover to add to your recovery footage. That was pretty cool
Great video Rory. I like how you stop and give tips to the viewers of what not to do (even tho you just did it!) and how to do it safely.
Yeah, I've learned a ton from these vids.
Yeah, 'cause you know, as soon as the video is over they're going out and trying all that stuff with theirs and their friends rigs!!!😆😆
Sean the stunt man, Mikes the camera man and Rory the director. Absolutely agree about pulling with the winch, drives me crazy to see people do it, when Rory did it I was surprised and thank you for commenting about that. Great video as always gentlemen.
It’s fun listening to Rory continue to spot a towed vehicle through his rear view mirror. The donut hole at the end looked like fun too.
I rode my motocrosser in a bowl in the chat piles near Carthage Missouri and tried to get as high as I could on the one tall side. What fun!
I love the fact that these three guys do incredibly difficult things and somehow laugh and have fun while doing it....even in the rain. Great work guys!
I think Matt is one hell of a guy, but I'd call Rory if I ever needed this kind of help, lol, thanks for sharing guys.😁👍
Correct I'd call Rory I also feel matt watches Rory's channel
Matts crew is falling apart, these guys just keep getting better.
@@theuglytruth8162 I have noticed there has been turnover, after Trevor and Skeeter left. And there are all these new faces that I don't think have been introduced. I just hope that it all isn't going to Matt's head and bad things are happening.
They are in different areas you get that right? It's not like they're 5 minutes apart
Yep, I'm on team Rory. Rory would probably weld some stuff and get me going again. Wouldn't nee a recovery.
Love Mike’s commentary; “Look at that sad Jeep Face”, “I’ll follow you”. Love Sean’s laugh. Thought Ol Blue was a Ford the way you had to bang on it to work😊
Bwahahaha!!
it looks like the jeep had a stroke on one side lol😂
That rolling backwards moment was real nasty. I'm sure I would have flipped it. The instinct to break is SO strong.
just as strong as the instinct to put our hand/arm out the window when rolling
Love your stuff @trail mater! I just started watching your videos and kept thinking you seemed so familiar, then it came to me! Before your Trail Mater days in 2017 you came out to Hells Revenge on your personal time and pulled me out of the Escalator with your Jeep/Buggy. This saved me $$$ for another tow! Wouldn't even let me pay you and stayed with me on the way out! After being persistent, you finally let me put some diesel in your truck!! Now I need to go get stuck again to get on your channel! haha. Great videos!
you have to admire Sean's skill and nerve in backing down that slope.thanks Rory for another great video.
Great stuff as usual! As a retired professional photographer I gotta say Mike has natural talent at getting good compositions and camera angles! Props to Shawn for riding that wreck like a boss!
Dang you can really notice how big of a guy Rory is when someone else is driving wrecker... poor Sean looking like a kid in that thing!!
Man, backing down that hill in a busted Jeep I'd have been pushing the brake pedal through the firewall. Great recovery, guys.
Shawn was riding a bucking bronco in that Jeep on Wipeout Hill! He probably has a mess in that seat! Awesome video and great recovery by the Rory, Shawn and Mike team. Trail Mater and Old Blue came through again on this one! Thanks for the fill in of the empty spot between other RUclipsr's.
Control and finesse. Excellent use of your rig and the recovered vehicle. Another win.
Full credit for acknowledging the pull/tow with the winch line. Spotting was on point with the "let it roll" as others have said. It is a natural reaction to try and brake.
Thanks for opening your video vault and sharing its treasures like this one.
That was a scary looking rollover, Glad they were OK. Another awesome video, learn something new on recovery technique nearly every video. Thanks for taking us along.
That was a ballsy recovery, more so due to the rain and wet rock. Great job guys!
Great show. Thanks for the scenery shots; Poor Mike, needs a third brake light on the boom!
Roll cages keep you safe. Thank you for the footage showing how the rollover happened. Even well equipped Jeeps can take a spill on severe terrain like that. Rory's team makes it look easy but it isn't.
I say this a lot, but it's the truth. Thank you guys for the "real" content. No clickbait, put-on, or drama. The best camera work of the very few channels I watch. It's a window into your lives doing what you do. Thank you for sharing.
Sean’s laugh is contagious. You guys have the best jobs. Well done!
Passed by a little bit ago on the way to Monticello and seen you are loaded up for the expo but couldn't stop to leave anything for you all..
Never a dull moment with these three guys. They are an awesome team. I don’t care what time it is when I get that notification or what I am doing everything is put on hold until Rory,Sean and Mikes videos are over. Stay safe, healthy and happy. ❤️🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍❤️
you guys are livin' the life... what a great crew !
The sad jeep face reminds me of the old Speed Buggy cartoons from the 70’s the headlight had so much expression lol. Thanks for the video. Great job.
Ya know, because of this channel there are lots of city dwellers that actually think there are really rock peckers in Utah.
Nice save Shawn!
Yeah, that Chevy hood thing simply means no one has lubricated the hood hinges...ever. My 1970 glides like butter, no crinkles.
I still believe, and different style hood my friend. His is the square body, flat sides. And they make a reinforcement piece to fix that problem.
I swear you guys have me 😂😂 the entire time! I would love to come hang out for a day or so 😀. Great recovery.....got a little nervous when I saw that front end come up 😮
Your truck is the BEST rescue machine thats unquestionably. What a job and scenery.....
Watch Shawn make a Jeep dance in a sketchy situation whilst keeping his cool. Watch Mike follow Rory. Watch what not to do. (As per Rory’s advice) The complete entertainment package! ❤
I bet that guys heart was in his throat when that jeep went over backwards! Good recovery guys!
Shawn, the first known sinking of an enemy ship, by a submarine, was during the Civil War. The Sub is the Hunley. It's now in a museum in South Carolina.
If you’re talking about the “Monitor” I thought it was Newport News, VA., at The Mariner’s Museum.
A lot of civil war information can be gleaned from "Jack Hinson's one man war" I have e-book from kindle, chapters of footnote references mostly from both north and south war documents..takes place in and around "the land between the rivers" now called "land between the lakes" in Kentucky including the river gunboat battles
We love all the recovery videos!
Great reflex control by Sean there, an eye-widening moment, to be sure. Trail Mater would make a great speedway car by the looks of the out-ro!
Last year or yesterday, we'll always watch a video up from you guys. Sorry about that jeep. Crap can happen fast, glad everyone was OK. Always fun to watch the MM3 work and have fun even in difficult situations. Stay safe and GOD bless
That was a bit of a pucker factor recovery this time lol nice job as always 😮👍👍👍👍
I really enjoy this channel!! More fab work is only thing I would love to see more of . Thanks guys
Was Shawn thinking "I kind of wish I had Mike's job" on that one? Great job guys.
The tow power of Rory is beyond all others. I was kinda hoping Rory would have to up right the Jeep. To bad, someone else had that fun.
Good recovery by the Rory men.
Always enjoy seeing how Rory & team makes these crazy recoveries look like a piece of cake
I like how Rory keeps us in the loop by letting us know it's an old video instead of just posting it and leaving one to assume that it is.
Jeep sad face ☹️...awesome recovery and tow truck teamwork! 👌
Not often we get to see the cause of the carnage ..
Thanks for sharing 🇨🇦
Love your videos I learn alot about recoveries. Thanks
Great recovery Rory......the guy backing down jeep knew his hit !!!..... wasn't his first rodeo....great call about pulling on winch cable/rope !!!... thanks for sharing this with us !
I must say how much i appreciate an intro that makes me aware of the time frame of this video so i don't load up my Jeep and rush out to Moab to take advantage of the warm weather right now!!!!😲🥶❄🤤😋
(I almost froze in SoCa last night!!!)
You Guys have an Awesome job, Love watching what you do and how you do it. Keep up the great work.
I really enjoy your channel. The scenery, terrifying roads and comedy is top notch.
Top drawer as usual! You three are such a wonderful team/family!! Just love ya! 👊
You guys are awesome. Can’t wait to see lockers etc added to blue
Wondered why you didn't control the decent down the hill by anchoring from the top winching down or snatch blocking off the tree. Safer than being at the bottom of a potentially run away rig. Just a thought. Love what you do.
Nice recovery guys!! Not too bad of terrain after the recovery point. THAT was a "bit" steep! LOL!! Glad everyone was ok that was in the Jeep!!! I always enjoy the snipits at the end... perfect was to close out a video!!
You guys always leave me with a smile. Loved Mike's comment, "Look at the sad Jeep face". Nice job!
There was a definite bum clench moment when Sean was coming down "Wipe out hill". Glad no one was hurt in the making of this video. 👍 Good work team Trail Mater.
Rory your such a little hot rod:))) love your team Mike & Sean….such cute laughs
Them short wheelbases be scary.
“I’ll follow you” I choked on my Kit Kat laughing 😂😂😂
❤ Team Trail Mater .. nice job on the website!! Graphics are excellent. and the new Contact chat box, nice touch 👍😎✊
5:30 "Let it roll" could have been interpreted differently haha.
Always enjoy the videos, thanks crew!
great piece of advice concerning braking on steep slope.
This old stuff was very good stuff... Thanks for bringing it forward🙂.... nice to have the back fill 🙂 Great driving/sliding Shawn 🙂 always great for getting clarification on using/not using the winch Rory 🙂 Great Two Truck Teamwork.... Excellent road side wiper repair Shawn 😂😂😂 Thanks for Sharing your adventures 🙂
Awesome job Shawn! I am with Mike that looked a tad sketch ;-) awesome job getting this poor Jeep off the hill and back to your shop guys.
As someone who wheels a TJ I can say that if those front tires lift, let off!! We don’t have the wheelbase these new 4 doors do to stay in it.. I’ve been close but never actually gone over like that, looked rough.. glad they were okay
Good recovery. Always new challenges seeing what people get themselves into. Thanks for sharing
Rory great recovery. I am sure that shean had a pucker at that one place when the wheel went up, Even I had a scare there. Mike great videoing.
Great recovery all of you, glad no one was injured.
Hello from the Uk 🇬🇧
Heck of a recovery Guys, Rory can see the physics of how a vehicle will react on terrain, like Earnhardt could see the air.
I can't remember the names, but there's a backroad from Moab all the way to the Needles district of Canyonlands. One section (about 10 to 15 miles from Moab) is a narrow slickrock trail that is a challenge just to walk up it. The steepest part is only about 60-70 feet up, and barely wide enough for my stock '89 Toyota short bed 4wd with 31x 10.5 tires. There's a cliff on the left side, not too far down, but it would roll and wreck your vehicle to fall off there. Tried going up hill real slow but only spun tires. Backed down a bit, went full gonzo lurching, bouncing and banging up the hill. After another ten miles or so, I stopped and talked to a guy riding a mountain bike. He turned out to be Michael Kelsey, a very prolific and successful author of books about exploring backcountry trails in Utah and other places around the world. I had read several of his books before meeting him that day. He asked me how I got my truck up that hill.
No nervous laughter there at all. Nice job keeping it together Shawn.
Rory this was an interesting video because it seems in situations like with the jeep you can't stop gravity once it starts you just have to hang on and trust the process and not let your instincts take over.
I really hope wipeout hill didn't get it's name because of accidents like that
Pretty sure Wipeout hill wasn't named after the Surfaris song, lol.
Good old GMC square body rescuing the Jeepers….and with the emergency lights on top saying: Hey I got this!
Ah, this is the one you were talking about when we visited you the next day in Sept. Was wondering where that rollover was, thanks!
Great video and great job with the recovering and God bless from GA and stay safe
It looked like they were on the "easer" side. Definitely a fun trail lots to explore in that area.
Man, that looked pretty sketchy to be standing there where you were at the beginning, Rory! Stay safe guys! I thought you were going to get above it and winch it down.
Is Shawn a motorcycle rider? He is pretty good on two wheels! It looked very sketchy. And Rory hit the nail on the head, "Let it roll, let it roll!" And for a second I thought Rory was telling him to let it roll over on its top, then I caught on.
Nice teamwork, guys! This made my day.
Sad Jeep face lol! Sean is so chill, Mike is always sunshine, and Rory is the wizard. Solid crew.
That little bowl was the fastest I've seen Trail Mator move.. It's kinda terrifying. lol
This man has years of experience i wish I could soak in and learn
Great call Mike.....
It is a sad jeep face !
👀 🤣
Very much enjoy Rory’s tech knowledge and recommendations
That boy Rory’s… Wicked Smaaaat understanding the
terra firma and the terrain too ! 🎃
Fun watch’n ya pick and choose vehicles paths ! It’s just neat.
This one reminds me of an old Garfield cartoon where he is stuck up a tree and John throws him the rope… “Tie this around your waist and I’ll pull you down.”
Rory is the man. An expert among experts in off-road recovery!
Great job guy's, as always you guy's rock.
Convenient to wipeout on wipeout hill!!🤣 Mike: I’ll follow you Rory!!😂 Love the videos guys!!😀
You guys all make a really good recovery team, I really enjoyed watching your videos!
That poor TJR. Sure is set up nice. Savvy under armor. Looks to me like it has the Savvy mid-arm suspension. Warn winch, front bumper and sliders. Raceline beadlocks. Old Blue putting the work in and looks as good as always.
" I Despise that Winch" Classic.
When you #1 team comes the the rescue you know it's going to get down in the most epic way possible. Yup Brakes can help you or make things worse depending on the situation. Great work #TeamtrailMater as always 👌🏾
What great understated humor by Mike.
Interesting seeing Shawn driving Trail Mater, I think that's the first time I've ever seen anyone other than Rory driving it.
