It's 2021 I'm 24 and my sister is 18, we grew up listening to this music, when music was made by real musicians and their songs are masterpieces thar will last forever.
How do you not cry over this song? Everything we go through in this life, everything we lose, hurts in a way that’s profoundly deep and impossible to express. Yet this song does it so beautifully and succinctly. Ashes to ashes and dust to dust.
@@martymartin2894 I think this was from 2009-2010. And yes that is Steve Morse from Deep Purple on violin. He was a member of Kansas briefly so I guess he still has a relationship with the band.
Not only is it an incredible performance (especially considering their advanced ages) but I think the sound engineer(s) should be commended as well, they did a great job. It was a truly majestic and beautiful performance of an iconic song, one of the best versions I've heard to date.
Where would music be without violins ... and Kansas? Dust in the wind. The best rendition of this song is this performance. As close to perfection as anyone can get.
this song has to be in my top three favorite songs of all time. I continue to love to listen to this song and occasionally do it at karaoke. I was lucky enough to see Kansas in concert on a round mobile stage at the Westbury music Fair in New York in the 1980s. we had second row seats. what a phenomenal song and group. it's a gift from the writers of this song to all of us to help us reflect on life. thank you for that gift, Kansas
Imagine being in the audience and witnessing this incredible masterpiece. There are moments in our lives that can standout for our entire lifetimes and I feel like experiencing this was probably one of them for the audience.
A classic song and a great one so great it was even in movies should get more likes than it has so far because ALL WE ARE IS DUST IN THE WIND DUDE SAID ( BILL S. PRESTON )
Love the orchestra arrangement! Top notch!
my father used to sing this to me when i was young, and now im the one who sing this for him....

I'm dieing from Lung Cancer. The fight is over and I'm glad I'm tried. But this song will be played at my funeral.
Very sorry to learn of this. No words left

So sorry
Hope you found peace friend wherever you are 🙏🏻
I am 55. I love this song. Maybe bittersweet, but my family knows it should be played at my death gathering.
When music was still art. Wow! He's great!

Good to hear a new version, this guy can still sing brilliantly, excellent.
My thoughts exactly and that is such a credit to him.
He really retained his awesome voice!
Just beautiful.
Steve is just undeniably fantastic . I wish the band as it was years ago was still together.
The group as it was in the earlier days was fantastically magical. Music to hope by. The present members are terrific but I miss Steve Walsh.
Cannot hear this too many times. Thank you Kansas. Thank you for that magic you put in your music, Steve. Passion ..
Masterpiece!
Gotta keep hearing this . Miss you so much, my brother. I know you are happy now in God's kingdom
Who you talking about?
I lost my only brother Sept. 2014. Don, I miss you 24/7. Rest in God's arms. 💜I miss my "light in life"
Steve Walsh's delivery is just....God-like..

@@crazyjkz ok thanks.
I believe this is in Topeka. They did their concert birthday there. Love this song so much.
Is Steve Morse from Deep Purple playing one of the violins (1:42)?
Yes.... Morse appeared on two Kansas albums in the 80's; "Power, and "In the spirit of things". and has kept in touch with the band ever since.
This is one of my favorite songs, I made my sister learn it on the guitar

Denise Asbury. I can relate. My brother played guitar. Now he is gone and I always have hard time not crying with this song.
