Well, Hardcore.
This is the kind of drummer and drumming I really like. Hard, precise and honest as the day is long! No bullshit attached.
Dave have so much good taste and class at playing. Even his old bandmates in Slayer used to be amazed on how good he is. Kerry King said once that he and Jeff used to warm up a lot before a show, while Dave just kinda get to the gig a few minutes before without any preps and, of course he nailed it every time without a sweat.
What? with zero rimshots? How the hell do you get a rimshot with a snare angled like that? Snare sounds like a cranked tin tray. No tone. Why? No consistent rimshots.
Dave is an amazing drummer, he really helped give Slayer their amazing sound. If it wasn't for him IMO I don't think Slayer would have gotten as big as they did. Is he the best Metal drummer? Most prob. not, but that being said, he is really a unique Metal drummer. My favorite thing he does being a Metal drummer myself are his intricate fills he does on the toms when he's going fast, they aren't typical. He's a beast on drums, and helped pave the way for other drummers in the future who are playing the same type of music. Hes also a really cool guy. You Rock Dave Lombardo!
It all started with punk music with Dave.
His fills make him so great. Nobody plays fills like Dave.
I would say he most probably is the best metal drummer of all time. Most technical? Most prob not. Best? Yes. It’s a thing I don’t think most of us can put our fingers on. It’s indescribable, but it’s there nonetheless.
He plays in an absolutely old-school way, greasy and trashy, and he's got these amazing single stroke rolls all over the kit, and that solid tempo, and that stamina.... I listen every 60's Jazz drummer and every 70's Prog rock wonderful musicians, but Dave is still one of my heroes. Also, NO ELECTRONIC DRUM TRIGGERS, what you see is what you hear. The king of fast paced rythms!!!

LittyProductions Everytime I have seen ST they have always communicated a lot. That is how you take a 2.5 minute Punk song in to an 8 minute epic.
Yes, you have to have the two songs, because it flows along as one epic. I really like how Dave makes the background sounds for the speech at the beginning.

Knowing that Eric Moore was in Suicidal before Dave Lombardo , this is the dumbest thing you could have said!; he is so much better and tighter than dave. Even Dave would have to admit that. Also watch Ronald Bruner s/t videos. Both sound better to me as a drummer.

I'm a double-bass drummer myself, over 30 yrs. I can relate with Dave. Not only are his feet fast....but the thing i like the most about him are his unique fast fills/chops that he does. They aren't typical. Most metal drummers fills don't have the patterns that Dave has.

I saw Suicidal Tendencies when they were touring with Megadeth for the Dystopia tour and I had know idea Dave was playing drums until their set was just about over. He added so much energy to theirs songs, it was amazing.

Lombardo is INSANE!!! What he does seems impossible but your eyes are seeing it and your ears are hearing it. There is no metal or hardcore band that wouldn't be improved dramatically if Dave was on drums. There are only 3 or 4 names you could mention alongside his and Dave is groovier than all of them.

I respect the fact that Mike Muir doesn't drink or use drug's. it shows his true persona as a front man for ST and a lot of his lyrics are based on the fact that maybe he didn't need to use drug's and alcohol to overcome some of the issues he had growing up.
