Tamil Nadu has the same dichotomy of strict vegetarians, and adventurous non-vegetarians, so Tamilians would be right at home in Assam.
I'm a Tamil-American Non-veg from a veg family, and was surprised to learn just how non-veg Tamil Nadu is, cuz my experience had been so sheltered during visits, meat not being allowed in family households.

Assamese here! Feels amazing to have seen Reboti chow mein, that restaurant is the heart for assamese chowmein connoisseurs. The diversity in North eastern food is so intense yet near about miniscule people know about it, not just North- Eastern food but the entire Indian nation is filled with diversity ( jitna diversity word use karu Kam Hain:) It feels delightful to have Sonny come to Guwahati and eat our delicacies. India truly needs its culture, heritage, food to become prevalent, high time guys.

12:00 I'd like to add that pork isn't exactly discouraged by the Hindu Majority. It's just that pork is haram in Islam and interestingly most butchers in india are muslims. Hence there's minimal supply of pork and thats the reason most Hindus don't eat pork and often develop a taboo feeling towards it
