      @@winstonsyme5899he isn’t. He doesn’t deserve to be there. He is great among 14 year olds and is physically mature for his age but he looks ordinary in Union 2 games. That’s an awful level. If he isn’t a standout at that level, why did he come on at 14 for the MLS. It’s pure publicity and people will learn that Sullivan’s ceiling is not much higher than Adu! We confuse physicality with being a good player. Players like Iniesta, Xavi, David Silva, Pedri, Gavi and a host of other Spanish elite players would have never been given an opportunity here because we confuse physicality and speed with skill. Europe doesn’t make that mistake.

    4 goal contributions in 10 games is still damn good especially when half those games were subs. You can say he needs a bit more time but his numbers don't lie. I mean Mbappe played like what 2 or 5 games his Academy team before starting for the senior team.

      He should be in Europe but in all fairness… he would be bang average over there. You can watch full u15/16 Man City games and I’m not sure he would start. Watch FC Barcelona U16 and those kids are significantly better and would compete in MLS Next games. So yes, he is a publicity stunt and his ceiling will be shown to be low.

    Thing is, if you really looked at those several minutes Cavan played...... he showed some things. Kid has a high field IQ. He has an ability to anticipate open space that is next level.
    Obviously he needs to go back down to Philly II. But late in the year if Philly has no playoff shot it might not be a bad idea to get Cavan on the field. Maybe sub him in say the 78th minute to give him 15 or so. Then if that goes well try him again 7-10 days later for the last 25 minutes.

  • @EmpereurNapoleonex
    @EmpereurNapoleonex Месяц назад +1

    I think it could be a bit of both. I think Philly usually produces quality players from academy.
    MLS is also objectively a worse league than what everyone is familiar with, but I also think MLS lacks avenues for good youth competitions. Like other countries have several levels of Pro/Rel leagues, plus u18/u19/u20s etc etc reserves that all those young kids who might be good enough to slot into first team, or at least good enough to slot into an MLS team, are playing in those youth and reserve teams and div 3 or 2 teams.

  • @derred723
    @derred723 Месяц назад +2

    Freddy Adu, i believe on the Grant Wahl, podcast series indicated that DC being a champion was a negative in that he was not wanted. That here was pushback from players as to why he was getting attention. That his first practice guys two footed him. Another thing i think, is Freddy needed to be near his mom which is why he was in DC and the issue of race is a big one as Freddy was put forth as some representative of black America and that's 400 years of oppression an immigrant from Africa isn't going to grasp. Tiger had it, Serena had and it's a big burden. You see man of the Lebron haters are coming from a political slant which is what comes with that. Freddy didn't know that and he was a child making adult decisions. He lacked quality guidance. And he's said it probably would have been better for his football to go to a european academy but someone wanted him close to his family in the DC area.

      You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. He isn’t good compared to European youth players his age and that means he isn’t good enough to play in a pro game against men. He isn’t even good among MLS Next players. He has one decent shot/goal despite the defense being absolutely atrocious and letting him walk into the box. Honestly, he looks average in MLS Next games. His running off the ball is poor and he shows he doesn’t know where to be. A players running off the ball is so much more important than what they do in the ball. I’m sorry, but Sullivan is physically mature but is not ready to play professionally now, and will not be a top tier player in 10 years.

Seeing how you’re not European then you probably couldn’t even name a 14 year old European youth player so how would you know how he is compared to them? If he wasn’t great then Manchester City wouldn’t even be in this conversation but rather he would just be just any other random 14 year old academy player no one ever hears the name of. Plus no one is saying he’s 100% ready to play in the MLS but he does need playing time in the MLS to start learning how to play in it.
