      I did not hear that the money was gone because of a scam. It was bank error. The bank took the money. The same thing happened a few years back with Bank Of America oh and Wellsfargo was in the news as well but their situation was more complicated something having to do with Mortgage Loans.

      With interest rates paying higher to invest cash or to keep in other platforms (Robinhood, for example), it’s beneficial to keep cash away from banks.

I have already had two claims denied from homeowners policy and had to pay all the pocket for my roof and damage to my home because of drain pipe leak under my home. I also feel like USAA is not taking care of its members the way it used to by wiggling out of taking care of members by the wording in their policy. I’m not sure if it’s the CEO or whoever is in charge, but why is so much negative stuff popping up? If I continue to hear more negative stuff about USAA I’m considering pulling all of my stuff out and going to local credit unions and other insurance agencies for business.

    USAA sucks. Back in 1994 I spent 1 hour on the phone to get a quote for auto insurance. At the end of the call. They asked my rank. I was enlisted. They were snobby and said. “ We only accept officers”. Years later they realized the number of enlisted and went for the money…

    • @kennixox262
      @kennixox262 14 дней назад

      It was always for commissioned officers, cadets, and their families until the late 1990's or so. When they started to accept enlisted personnel that is when the quality went dow; due to increased customer volume and not a dig at enlisted personnel. At some point around 2010 or so, anyone with an honorable discharge regardless of rank can apply for USAA insurance. USAA was originally started by Army officers, for officers as they were considered at the time a better risk. I don't think any other major bank or insurance company is any better or worse. I think for retail banking, a good credit union is a great alternative.

      that's not how IT security works at all. insider threats happen because bad people are hired. you clearly don't even understand how work from home functions. when there is privileged information, there's an audit log of who accesses it. if you're suggesting work from home people are stealing this info, it would be very easy to tell who had access to this info...the exact same way Target can tell when an employee is skimming a cash register. no, what most likely happened is these people had their information stolen in a hack and slowly passed around.

      Why? Employees work on company computers. They use encrypted software just like when they are in office. They have access to the same information whether in office or at home. Once logged on to the company server their work is monitored just like it is in office.If they are going to steal information there’s no reason to assume it’s easier to steal working from home than it is working in office. There’s been no evidence to suggest that an employee is the culprit. It’s more logical to assume that the person’s information was compromised by their own online behavior or credit card use. That said, IME most banks drag their feet and stall to avoid repaying their member’s money when stolen.

    Folks never leave your cash a large amount in a checking account put it in a savings account that doesn’t have overdraft protection to the checking account that way if they do drain your checking your savings is spared have notifications lock all cards you are not using at the moment as well through your phone app hope this helps and never store all your cash in one spot!

    These "stories" are left unexplained. I don't believe there is not some family member or other I.D. compromise going on. Where did the money go? Obviously the bank had evidence that the individual initiated and authorized the transactions. Theft from an account does not "just happen" at random in the ether with all of today's safeguards. I've been with USAA for decades and had only exceptional customer service -- THE best in the nation. It's the only honestly-run credit card in the U.S.

    Though one may not be targeted, one should still be alert to what's happening with their account. Most criminals will just take a small amount, just to see if people are paying attention to their accounts. If they took something small from the account and the person didn't do anything, they will be back to take a greater amount. I had someone charge to my account, 10.00 dollars for a program I used about 10 years ago.

      Exactly! My grandparents were so frugal but they had a TON of money on both sides. I remember my grandfather telling me "you want to make money while you sleep." And I guess that attitude passed down to my dad (RIP), because I remember going to his house one day and I had bought something I really liked, so I wanted to show it to him. So I said "Look at this!
      Isn't it cute? It was on sale...I saved 50%!" My dad replied "Well, if you're spending, you're not saving." Obviously I had no retort, and that has always stuck with me.

    Listen to this one up here in Canada.I'm with one of the 5 big banks and my accounts there are electronic which means a scammer can tap in with a phone sim swap it happens daily. So Being retired and looking at crashing $ 300,000 I went to another old account that my mother inlaw and wife had together until my mother inlaws 2022 death.I talk to the banker about a safe place to stash money that isn't electronic.He then tries to get me to make that 50 year old account modern and elctronic ??? I said are you kidding and then when 300,000. is missing will you pay me back.NO !! he shook his head. This is not a cgood time in history to be electronic as the banks don't care about your security !!

So I decided to only keep no more than $20s in the accnt. I’ve been using them for car insurance BUT they recently (pretty much overnight) increased the monthly rate literally TRIPLING the amount.. and that’s with no accidents, no tickets, no claims whatsoever-so-ever. I’m a 100% permanent disabled veteran. I live on a fixed budget and every penny is VERY serious to me.. I’m DONE with this company after seeing this video.. REALLY FReaKeD OUT doing ANY business with them… DaaaYuuuMm
