I used to make stainless steel valve seats trepanned out of 15 inch blanks 2 inches thick. I had to listen for the tool to change noises to know it had nearly cut through.
Come on guys you can afford a late model mobile phone but can't afford a few indexable insert cutting tools to speed things up a bit.It surprises me at this day and age seeing brazed carbide tooling used. You can get them from e-bay relatively cheap.
I wonder if there import restrictions on new - or maybe they import masses of worn tips to braze on? Don't forget their wages might be only $50 a month.
The drill guy messed the gear up. The holes are about 1mm off center with respect to the whole gear. You can tell by looking at the wider holes and how they break through the wall on one side of the gear and there's about 0.5mm wall on the other side, so when it'll get bolted in, the teeth will wobble about center. As for that lathe, did you see the chatter marks? lol Must be 50+ years old that thing and it's done!

Nice clean workshop with no rubbish all over the floor.
the lathe guy did a good job
Thanks
Crawling on the ground not using workbenches must be the secret of making "super gears".
It's hard to know what their hips will be like in later life.

How anything is made on that lathe is beyond me
I see a couple of Kids working in that shop, it's called 'Child Labor' isn't it ???
