Darn good thing dogs dont ride dirtbikes, we would be in trouble. My border collie Lola rides a skateboard half a block. Lil shit just loves it. She will also get on the dirtbike and atv and snowmobiles for a ride.

By far this is better advice to riders than anything else out there. I hit the gym as soon as I started puking my guts out on the side of the mountain when I first started riding 2.5 years ago. The combination of that and riding has helped me ride way better than I otherwise would have.

I finally found a technical trail yesterday. #1 The effort I put into the drills from your videos was noticeable countless times, probably hundreds. #2 I couldn't believe how physically demanding it was. Far, far different than regular trail riding. I'll arrive prepared next time for the huge exertion required.

Good stuff. I'm a novice/intermediate rider, so I can't give advice on riding per se. However, I made a video on this very topic because I believe that no matter what your skill level is, you are far better off having a good cardio and resistance training routine that translates into your riding.
Riding and practice will always be 80-90% (maybe more) of your goals. But that little bit of extra effort off the bike really does count. I strongly advocate fitness for all dirt bikers.

I totally agree with you about hard intervall training in the gym. But for me the best training beside biketime is mountain biking, best on steep, short hills where you get intervalls naturally because of the terrain.
    Also good for your balance.

As usual, wonderful video. I have to admit, one of my own main issues is hand fatigue. I cycle and I do a rower, which I'm sure helps...but last weekend when I got out, it was my hands that prevented me from standing more than i should have. I just couldn't hold onto the bike. Perhaps closing in on 62 has something to do with it. Perhaps that only being my second ride since mid-July due to my Cal. green sticker bike dropping a valve and my needing to wait until red sticker to ride my 2-stroke really 'untrained' my hand muscles.
In any case, any suggestions on hand strengthening exercises?

You got that right. Turns out getting off the couch and attempting tough like rorr was a bad call.....lol just so much had gone wrong this year between the time registration opened and the event.... I am sure alot of others were in the same boat. Fortunate to have had the event at all. Wish you could have made it. Colton unfortunately dehydrated out is the rumor . Webb cruised and some young guys scored high. Out of 60 in the main, only 11 did the 2 full laps. Would have been cool to cheer for you on the wrong side of heaven section.

To boring on a stationary bike. I get out on the bicycle (road or mountain). If the weather is to bad for bicycling I'll get in a 30 to 60 minute walk on pavement and/or dirt. I was surprised how walking helped with riding. Also, swimming helps. You can decide how many laps you want to do in a certain amount of time. You know you are building stamina when you find yourself swimming further in the same or less amount of time. Also, learning different swimming strokes works different muscles.

What do you think is the best way to avoid that, start of the race chaos/max out that can lead to arm pump or fatigue in the first 15 minutes? I am conscious of it but the froth at the beginning of the race is hard to avoid. Thanks

@@IRCTireUSAMoto It would great to get your opinion on flexibility training. Flexibility training can improve your core and balance. I would like to know how the time spent there translates to improvements on the bike. What if you only had 1, 1.5, or 2 hours a day for any kind of training what would be the recommended routine.
