It's 2024 and I'm watching this video for the first time. All I have to say is wooooooow. So much character and potential packed into a single module. I didn't know it could function as a voice as well, which sounds absolutely incredible. Well done everyone. This is now at the top of my list.

    1. Mr. Celi is not a musician but a sound designer. Imagine what a musician could do with this device! eg. connecting a microphone and a preamp or a guitar / bass / keyboard, etc.
    2. Imagine connecting two of these in cascade!
    3. Imaging connecting it to other pedals or a DAW with lots of plugins!
    4. Nearly all of Robert Fripp secrets unveiled (haha).

He's also one of the best guitar players at the company, so there's that! 🤷‍♂️

Got this one coming to my studio! Strymon, love that you are converting some of your pedals into Eurorack modules like this for us studio folks (Volante/Magneto & NightSky/Starlab). Please keep that going! Guitar pedals are great for live performance/amp users but for DI and Synth applications in the studio I’d rather have modules like these. Not that you can’t use pedals that way, I do, but modules are a great option for studio work.
Would love to see expanded versions of Deco, DIG & the Mobius “destroyer” algorithm as Eurorack modules!

I've played guitar for like 15 years and got into Eurorack about 18 months ago (and keyboard synth a few weeks ago), it was/is so eye opening, makes me look at music in different ways, it's definitely made me more creative, musically and there's just something wonderful about exploring what sounds you can create while patching. It's kinda therapeutic, very rewarding, immensely satisfying (when you create something that sounds nice) and extremely inspiring, can't recommend it enough. I definitely still love playing guitar though. 😊

I have been a long time Strymon fan, but they are the only pedals that I have ever had to send in for repair. I had an Iridium that just stopped working - all my pedals are powered by an Ojai. I thought maybe I hit the Iridium with phantom power from my preamp by mistake., but I can't be sure. Pedals usually last forever. But then I recently got a Zelza. I loved the sounds, and it worked for about a week. I had bought both pedals from a local store here in London, so I took them in and they had them both replaced free of charge under warranty. One week later, the new Zelza stopped working. Every other pedal in my chain has been fine, so it isn't a system issue. I realise things break, but two Zelzas and an Iridium makes me wonder if QA has slipped. If you think I am a hater I am not- I have an El Capistan, a Blue Sky, and a Sunset in my small-ish signal chain, along with the aforementioned pedals and power supply.

Ooooohhhhh!....It's Pete Celi's sub-conscious...with reverb. I thought it might have been my long awaited Iridium 2....or new amp sims for the original Iridium cuz I love the Iridium so much but struggle with sparkly cleans and perhaps it could have an effects loop for delays or maybe just more headroom. They could also throw in a stellar looper and make it a larger format pedal...and maybe make it hugger orange with SS stripes. That's it. I just know that Strymon wants to do this for me (OK, us) and that's what makes Strymon great! Thx.

To understand what the StarLab was doing, I had to "reverse engineer" the modules on the left side of the rack: a lot of modulation: LFO's, sample and hold, and dynamic filtering going on. So aside from watching Pete twist a few knobs, the "last module" before the StarLab was 8 LFO's controlled randomly, for example. At 34 minutes this video was pretty daunting, but adding a few seconds of
"clean tone" (bypassing the StarLab to a vanilla VCA/out) would help. That said, it is an incredibly interesting demo, and I own several Strymon FX pedals that I program with and without MIDI so I know it's hard to know when to stop demo-ing what their stuff can do.

    • @strymon
      @strymon  2 года назад +10

Thank you for the feedback, Frank! We will be adding some recording notes to the video description to make the audio path a bit more clear, we hope! Pete does start several of the examples dry, including near the beginning of the video when each reverb texture is introduced at 01:00, 03:54, and 05:06. If StarLab's Wet knob is at minimum and the Dry knob is turned up, then you are hearing only the unprocessed input signal. The Instruō øchd 8-LFO module you mentioned is present in the skiff but is not used in any of the examples. For all the examples that required an input source, Pete used a very basic input signal consisting only of an oscillator running through a low pass filter, with the filter output connected directly to StarLab's input. Hope this helps! :)

Incredible! Pete is one valuable asset!
QUESTION: Is there a chance you might one day offer a does-it-all quantizer pedal with 1/4” ins and outs? I build and sell step sequencers and I’d love to have such a pedal to plug into. Maybe others would have similar needs? I don’t use Eurorack.

Unfortunately we don't discuss future product developments, but we've never been ones to rule anything out :) certainly sounds like a cool idea for a pedal

That is bad ass. This will definitely end up in my rig. Congrats on such a great module. As is the Magneto!
It'd be fantastic if some of these button/knob combos be added to the Magneto for an extra mode/cv control option over currently non-CVable parameters.

truly epic - will probably get one for future projects. I currently use a bluesky - If anyone reading is intersted in listening to some of my ambient fusion music, feel free to listen on my channel.
This looks/sound great, can't wait to get in one in real life.
