Gar Samuelson is in my opinion the most underrated metal drummer of all time. He was the first guy to incorporate heavy jazz influences into thrash, and he was a fundamentally better drummer than any of the other "big 4" thrash bands. Very odd that most people have no idea who he is.

Gar is like a praying mantis on the drums. The bass on this song is one of Ellefson’s best on this album. These two most definitely helped propel Megadeth to its State Of The Art Speed Metal Band status into history!!

I got here after some slayer videos of the same type (drums and bass only) and MAAN how relieved I feel after hearing some actually good basslines and playing again, araya may be good at vocals but not at bass, like, AT ALL

You just can't match the energy of cutting live without a click in my opinion . Stand in the same room together , eye to eye and who cares about bleed over . Knowing you HAVE to get it right means you will.

As early as 1992 he convinced them to use digital pitch correction (yes, it existed that long ago, it's just that it was expensive and therefore less common than it would become with the advent of pro tools).

Had he lived and stayed with Megadeth longer, he would have been the most important and influential drummer of the Big 4 for sure.
Everyone talks about Lombardo and yeah, he is amazing and the Thrash Drum God but Gar was a whole different level.
And its so ironic that the worst of the 4 drummers is the most known one, can apply the same to all the other instruments except James' voice.
