I think the way Warlock walked was perfect. That's the best portrayal of Myers. I think the mask in Halloween 2 looks scarier than it did in the original also.
I agree with James Jude Courtney being a phenomenal Myers. The original Myers is just a bit more mysterious and spooky to me and I love that. He’s just the perfect Myers but James Jude Courtney is welcomed with open arms as the best Myers I could ever imagine for a movie today. He captured the essence of Myers so incredibly, I honestly didn’t think it could be done again. I’m pretty harsh with my Myers list because castle and Courtney feel to me like what I’d call Michael Myers but the other actors not so much. 4 was good and I think the other movies are entertaining and give me some warm feelings but they aren’t what my mind thinks of when I picture Halloween. They are more like a reenactment of Myers rather than a continuation of this unknown creepy weird character we saw in the first on. Courtney is believable..the supernatural element is actually believably frightening in this new one. He’s got that detached and awkward feel about him but also the creepy amount of randomness yet preciseness and unnatural force that’s more than just strength.
Cody said he wasn't including people who portrayed Michael in certain parts of the films, and Michael Lerner is an example of that. Well, I have a lot to say about this, since the original is my favorite film ever. First, as for Tyler Mane, I've said before and will say again that, if none of the previous films existed and Rob just came out of nowhere with an original film called Halloween, I could get on board with Mane as the character (although I would still consider the film garbage because of the first half). But part of the brilliance of Castle's performance, and for that matter, his casting by Carpenter, in the original was that he was the size and shape of any random dude that you see a million times a day at the grocery store, etc. I think that adds to the realism of the original. And on that same note, I think another major factor that goes all the way back to Dick Warlock in h2 is that, even as early as that film, the actor was playing a horror icon from a smash hit horror film. I think every actor in the franchise, including Warlock, was naturally guilty of overthinking the role. Whereas, Castle didn't know wtf he was doing and neither did the filmmakers. As we all know, there was an exchange with Castle and Carpenter during filming where Castle asked what his motivation was supposed to be, and Carpenter said, "just walk...." There's a certain magic that resulted from that that I don't think Marlon fucking Brando could be expected to replicate in a sequel. Anyway, for my money, I'd say Castle is head and shoulders above the rest, followed by Wilbur (I've said before that if the mask weren't so utterly fucking ridiculous, I think Halloween 4 would be the second best film in the franchise by a long shot), and then Warlock, and that's mostly because he is using the original 75 kirk mask. His performance is stiff as you mentioned, but the mask still looks horrifying. No film in this franchise has ever come close to achieving the chilling look of the mask in the first 2 films. And as an artist and a very visual guy, that ruins the franchise for me. A silly mask in a Halloween film takes me out of the film immediately. And unfortunately, with the exception, ironically, of the beginning of zombie's remake (which I hate), all of the masks are comically stupid. The mask at the beginning of the remake looked pretty damn good though.
I definitely understand not including EVERYONE who wore the mask, but as a HUGE part 6 fan, there’s one important point - and I apologize if somebody already mentioned it - that although George Wilbur was great through much of the film, he was NOT called back for reshoots, so for the entire ending of the theatrical cut, A. Michael Lerner played Michael in Smith’s Grove, and he did some KEY scenes, such as the operating room massacre, the hallway walk/run chase of the doctor, smashing the doctor’s head thru the gate, the entire scene in the lab (trying to get Danny, choking Kara, getting injected with green goo by Tommy, etc).
The Worst: Dick Warlock - Halloween 2 Brad Loreen -Halloween Resurrection Chris Duran - H20 Don Shanks - Halloween 5 the revenge of Michael Myers The Best: George P Wilbur - Halloween 4 and Halloween 6 Nick Castle - Halloween 1978 James Jude Courtney - Halloween 2018 Tyler Mane - Halloween 2007 and Halloween 2 2009
I liked him to, I know he could be a bit robotic sometimes but he did great kills and loved the end scene with Laurie and Loomis when he is shot in the eye holes. In a way Michael is sorta robotic with one goal and no emotion. The films where they made Michael the incredible hulk look I wasn't to crazy about. I felt it was going toward Friday the 13th style with Jason. I like the Michael character to look more like the average guy with insane strength and pretty indestructible. Courtney and Castle are awesome as well. Each in their own way. George Wilbur great to. They all brought greatness in their own way.
Where do you get the kick-ass shirts? I binge watched your Halloween movie reviews and I absolutely love the shirts you wore. From the 1978 style shirt, to the 2018 style. Please tell me where you bought these type of shirts so I can go pick them up. Also is there these types of shirts for other franchises?
Nick Castle and James Jude Courtney are tied at the top spot for me. Both portrayed Michael in the new film, after all (Castle only played Michael in one scene, but he's the one who did the breathing while Courtney performed throughout almost the whole movie). Tyler Mane is #2 for me, for the same reasons you gave and my own - the second he stands up in Rob Zombie's Halloween, HOLY CRAP. He's definitely someone you DON'T wanna piss off. Dick Warlock is #3. I hate to disagree with you, but I think the way he moved makes sense. He was shot several times, so he SHOULD be walking like he just barely survived that.
If there's any things the 2018 movie nailed 100%, it's Michael Myers (actor and mask) and the score, ESPECIALLY the new score when Allison looks into the mask of Michael Myers for the first time and starts running...the same music that starts this video. It's epic, but it's deeply personal, too. Like somehow when she sees Michael, even though she's never seen pictures or anything, she knows this is the man, or "the shape," that her grandmother has warned them about all these years. The music captures that somehow.
I will say one thing I liked about Chris Durand's MM, is the scene where he grabs the keys to get to the kids. Makes me laugh everytime when they bang on the door once he uses the keyring
I would have liked Tyler Mane as Michael if Rob Zombie didn't have him bursting through every effing wall like the Kool-Aid man. It's kinda hard to be intimidated when every time he shows up on screen I'm compelled to yell out, "Oh yeah!"
Got to meet George Wilbur in Wyoming, MN when they did the Pinehaven haunted hayride Halloween theme. He was a cool dude and the hayride was bad ass! He’s a big dude
Nice intro. 'The Shape Hunts Allyson' is the best original piece of music in the franchise since the OG theme in my opinion. Not that they branched out from that much.
Hey Cody nice list. U should definitely do a ranking for the Freddys. I know Robert played him in all but one film but his performances as Freddy were wildly different from one film to the next. Not to mention how different his look was in every movie. Some much better than other. A ranking definitely long overdue
1. Castle 2. Airon Armstrong (Kills flashback) 3. Tom Morga (Halloween 4 bandage scenes) 4. James Jude Courtney 5. A. Michael Lerner (Halloween 6 reshoots) 6. George Wilbur, Halloween 6 7. Dick War lock 8. George P. Wilbur, Halloween 4 9. Chris Durand 11. Tyler Mane 12. Don Shanks
1. Halloween 1978 Michael Myers 2. Halloween 2018 Michael Myers 3 Halloween 4 Michael Myers minus the mask. 4. Halloween 6 Michael Myers 5. Halloween II (1981) Michael Myers 6. Rob Zombies Halloween Michael Myers 7. Halloween Reserection Myers Mask 8. H20 Michael Myers 9. Rob Zombies Halloween II Michael Myers 10. Halloween 5 Michael Myers.
The original just has this aura to him that’s iconic that’s why he made a cameo in the 2018 for the scene when Laurie looked at him through the window it’s made you feel like “ohh shit.”
The part of part 6 you liked so much was in the reshoots, and A. Michael Lerner had taken over the role for those parts. Also, Tom Morga played Michael while bandaged in Part 4.
The Michael Myers from Halloween 6 that power walks down the hallway and massacres the doctors in the hospital room was a stuntman named Michael Lerner. He replaced George P Wilbur for the reshoots in the theatrical release. George P Wilbur plays Michael through the entire Producers cut.
For me: 3. Tyler Mane 2. James Jude Courtney 1. Nick Castle James and Nick are almost tied. Tyler's presence, mostly because of his size, is intimidating. Also, the brutality. Nick. Do we have to talk about him? The creepy breathing, the movements, especially the head tilt, everything he and John Carpenter and Deborah Hill crafted Michael to be is awesome and Nick brought it to life wonderfully. James is a great succesor for Nick's Michael. He performs the movements presicely and he also shows a fair share of brutality. Well, Mikey spent forty years without killing, I guess he was hungry so to speak.
Dick warlock was my favorite. I take his stillness from being shot and falling from the balcony. I feel he was transitioning as the shape and not Michael anymore.
James Jude Courtney will be #2. Nick Castle will be #1. Predictable yet Awesome! I like the John Carpenter music at the beginning. Isn’t that The Shape Stalks Alyson? Dope video!
Hey Cody I think Loomis deserves a ranking video as well. Dave McCray did a ranking video for Loomis. Im sure a lot of subscribers would like to see ur ranking as well
1. Nick Castle- The original, can't be beat. We have the Shape because of him. 2. JJC- Takes what NC did and amplifies it and makes it different. Evolves him is a good way to describe it 3. Tyler Mane- Holy balls I hate RZ Halloween but there's nothing wrong with Tyler Mane as Michael. Love his size, brutality, his little quirks. You just never knew how he would react to situations. Can't wait to see another sequel with JJC, when he gets another chance he's gonna be the best.
Liked your ranking! Here’s my ranking: (NOTE: These are the main actors ONLY!!) 8. Don Shanks (I liked his Myers, but the mask was pretty bad. And he barely brought anything new.) 7. Chris Durand (I hated every mask, and that puts him at the bottom. But I do like his version of Myers.) 6. Brad Loree (I liked the mask. But it’s fine that you don’t like it. But again, nothing new.) 5. Tyler Mane (Probably the most physically intimidating Myers. Very unique Myers.) 4. Dick Warlock (Very great Myers! He was a lot like Nick Castle from the OG Myers.) 3. George P. Wilbur (The SCARIEST Myers!!! There... I said it!! But he walks way too casually. Lol) 2. James Jude Courtney (The scariest Myers since the OG. I do think at some point, he is scarier. I actually got to meet him at a haunted house on the 20th of October. But he was an awesome Myers!) 1. Nick Castle (Come on! It’s freakin obvious. The best interpreted version of the scariest slasher villain of all time! Love that mask to death!!) Great ranking, Cody!! And we also have the same top three!! Lol
I agree totally with your top two. I ADORE JJC for what he brought to the role. Big and intimidating, but believable. Moved in a way that felt perfect for Michael, not once was I taken aback by the way he moved in a bad sense. I only ever noticed it as something that horrified me and intrigued me even further. I could almost understand how someone could be so obsessed with figuring out how he works when I watched him on screen. He's brutal, merciless, and terrifying. His presence was really strong and I loved every second he was on screen. Plus James seems like a very sweet person irl. I hope he gets to be Michael again. :))
Dude! You always make the most valid points! I agree with you on most of your list with a couple exceptions. I would swap Chris Durand and Brad Loree ( even though Resurrection sucked) and Dick Warlock needs to swap with George P Wilbur. Dick Warlocks portrayal scared the shit out of me!!
I don't care if the movie is bad I care about the way they show Michael and my favourite is James ( who was Micheal in Halloween 2018) is my favourite since I am watching this video in 2022 I watched all the Halloween films.
Top 3 1. James Jude Courtney-simple, effective & brutal 2. Nick Castle- simple yet scary 3. Tyler Mane- most brutal; if I saw him in real life I’d probably 💩 myself 😂😂
6: Chris Durand I like him but he just doesn’t bring anything new to the franchise like you said he’s bland 5: Dick Warlock the way he moves is weird as well as his stretched mask he feels like a worse copy of casle 4: George P Wilbur (only seen H6 not H4) It was a difficult decision between wether to put this at #3 or 4 because he has a great performance because he is scary and he reminds me of Ted White 3: Tyler Mane I like how muscular he is and how tall he is I think he is the scariest Michael ever because of those 2 details 2: Nick Casle this and JJC were almost tied for me I wasn’t sure but I had to go with Nick at second he is also scary and he started all of these people on the list 1: JJC he is the runner up for scariest because of the way he walks and the way he hides with all the mannequins when Laurie is looking for him and he killed a kid!
my ranking 1.james jude courtney 2.nick castle 3.tyler mane 4.george p wilbur 5.chris durand 6.dick warlock 7.brad loree 8.don shanks so i agreed with you on most of these
Cody is right, i see JJ Courtney purty much at par with Nick Castle in the future, am i the only that thinks Don Shanks wasn 't a bad Michael, I like him better than Wilbur, and i believe Durand is one of the best Michael portrayals In the series, regarding Mane, he is the Michael for Rob Zombie 's universe, and Warlock gave Michael that feeling of a walking dead kind of, cause lest not forget this was a Michael bordering the threshold of the undead, imo
My list is similar to yours Cody. Here is my Ranking List of all 8 Michael Myers Actors in order: 1. Nick Castle (H1) 2. James Jude Courtney (H18) 3. George P. Wilbur (H4 and H6) 4. Dick Warlock (H2 (1981)) 5. Tyler Mane (H(2007) and H2(2009)) 6. Chris Durand (H20) 7. Brad Loree (H:R) 8. Don Shanks (H5)
Why nick castle first? he is too overated James and Tyler played better than him nick was not even scarier ,he was stiff and weak and appearance dont even look like boogeyman
Whats with the Chris Durand hate? He had the best movement style, he looked the toughest despite a slender build. Wilbur was the worst one by far, bigger build but his walk and stance was embarrassing.
I see a lot of shit dumped on Chris because of the mask. Put that aside and you realize he was one of the best Michael Myers. His movement and physical shape was more in line with Nick Castle.
Nick Castle, Dick Warlock, George P Wilbur, Brad Loree, James Dude Courtney, the creepy Michael Myers was Dick Warlock, Cause he had that slow creepy walk
Idk why but theres something about that original mask that I love the most just the way the facial features are on it to me are creepier but I really the Halloween 2018 mask but if it just had that same 1978 design somehow maybe I would like it more

The Worst:
Dick Warlock - Halloween 2
Brad Loreen -Halloween Resurrection
Chris Duran - H20
Don Shanks - Halloween 5 the revenge of Michael Myers
The Best:
George P Wilbur - Halloween 4 and Halloween 6
Nick Castle - Halloween 1978
James Jude Courtney - Halloween 2018
Tyler Mane - Halloween 2007 and Halloween 2 2009
Dick Warlock was my favorite. I loved that slow stalker glide he has when he moves. Very foreboding
Yeah, Dick Warlock played Michael Myers great, It was creepy
Great ranking Cody, Nobody can ever top Nick Castle he was the one who helped create Michaels quirks & movement.
POV: your watching this in 2021 knowing Halloween Kills is coming out in October
Nick Castle and the original will always be the Best, and the 2018 version is Awesome!!! 🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃
Tyler Mane claimed he used to be a legit barefoot 6'8" but is down to 6'7" in recent years, due to injuries.
I think he used to be a wrestler too and worked in WCW before it went out of business.
I will say one thing I liked about Chris Durand's MM, is the scene where he grabs the keys to get to the kids. Makes me laugh everytime when they bang on the door once he uses the keyring
Great rankings my list would probably be identical to yours Cody. Didn't miss a beat.
I would have liked Tyler Mane as Michael if Rob Zombie didn't have him bursting through every effing wall like the Kool-Aid man. It's kinda hard to be intimidated when every time he shows up on screen I'm compelled to yell out, "Oh yeah!"
My fav Michael Myers its from RZ H1 😉👍❤🔪
António Silva Channel no Nick castle
@@MichaelMyers66793 how you saying no to his favorite?
@@KreepingUnit I’m giving my personal fucking opinion
@@MichaelMyers66793 so is he smh
@@Nick-zj2bv that’s good
Got to meet George Wilbur in Wyoming, MN when they did the Pinehaven haunted hayride Halloween theme.
You forgot A Micheal Learner from Halloween 6 reshoots and Theatrical Cut
1. Castle
2. Airon Armstrong (Kills flashback)
3. Tom Morga (Halloween 4 bandage scenes)
4. James Jude Courtney
5. A. Michael Lerner (Halloween 6 reshoots)
6. George Wilbur, Halloween 6
7. Dick War lock
8. George P. Wilbur, Halloween 4
9. Chris Durand
11. Tyler Mane
12. Don Shanks
JJC is (in my opinion) right on the same tier as NC. I love both of their Micheals so much and I cant choose between them.
Hey Cody, where did you get that background of Michael walking into the house? It’s badass! Also, great video!
Great Ranking
1. Halloween 1978 Michael Myers
2. Halloween 2018 Michael Myers
3 Halloween 4 Michael Myers minus the mask.
4. Halloween 6 Michael Myers
5. Halloween II (1981) Michael Myers
6. Rob Zombies Halloween Michael Myers
7. Halloween Reserection Myers Mask
8. H20 Michael Myers
9. Rob Zombies Halloween II Michael Myers
10. Halloween 5 Michael Myers.
Zombies movie are shit
its 2018 then 1978
halloween 2 is 3
Nah as much as I love 2018
Daniel Hammond why are you putting mask in
Same as yours !!!... jjc..was feckin awesome ..tho.. hope hes in many more ☺ love f scotland ☺
For me:
3. Tyler Mane
2. James Jude Courtney
1. Nick Castle
James and Nick are almost tied.
5:31 No wonder they had him play Silver Shamrock's robot army in Halloween III.
I can see why people hate Chris as Michael but I actually like him as Michael
LOVE THE INTRO!!!
Dick warlock was my favorite. I take his stillness from being shot and falling from the balcony. I feel he was transitioning as the shape and not Michael anymore.
michael hyde he ain’t the best robotic walk
Tyler Mane is my fav Michael Myers Potrayal
My top 3:
1. Nick Caslte (Original ftw!).
2. James Jude Courtney (brutal in 2018).
3. Tyler Mane (the scariest Michael of them all).
James Jude Courtney will be #2. Nick Castle will be #1. Predictable yet Awesome! I like the John Carpenter music at the beginning. Isn’t that The Shape Stalks Alyson? Dope video!
Back at it again nice vids
Hey Cody I think Loomis deserves a ranking video as well. Dave McCray did a ranking video for Loomis. Im sure a lot of subscribers would like to see ur ranking as well
1. Nick Castle- The original, can't be beat. We have the Shape because of him.
2. JJC- Takes what NC did and amplifies it and makes it different. Evolves him is a good way to describe it
Here’s my ranking:
(NOTE: These are the main actors ONLY!!)
8. Don Shanks (I liked his Myers, but the mask was pretty bad. And he barely brought anything new.)
7. Chris Durand (I hated every mask, and that puts him at the bottom. But I do like his version of Myers.)
6. Brad Loree (I liked the mask. But it’s fine that you don’t like it. But again, nothing new.)
5. Tyler Mane (Probably the most physically intimidating Myers. Very unique Myers.)
4. Dick Warlock (Very great Myers! He was a lot like Nick Castle from the OG Myers.)
3. George P. Wilbur (The SCARIEST Myers!!! There... I said it!! But he walks way too casually. Lol)
2. James Jude Courtney (The scariest Myers since the OG. I do think at some point, he is scarier. I actually got to meet him at a haunted house on the 20th of October. But he was an awesome Myers!)
1. Nick Castle (Come on! It’s freakin obvious. The best interpreted version of the scariest slasher villain of all time! Love that mask to death!!)
Great ranking, Cody!! And we also have the same top three!! Lol
1. Nick
2.JJC
3.Taylor mane
4.George P Wilbur
Shaquille Shaw dont u mean Tyler Mane?
@@sonicriccardi7575 yea. 😂 I didnt know my phone auto corrected his name to Taylor
Agreed
Nice video Cody my favorite Michael is Tyler Mane. I collect horror movies I’m 13 years old. We should do a podcast together. I live in Virginia
damn cody your vids are so good!!
Thank you glad you enjoy them
I don't care if the movie is bad I care about the way they show Michael and my favourite is James ( who was Micheal in Halloween 2018) is my favourite since I am watching this video in 2022 I watched all the Halloween films.
Fuck ya. Subscribed hard ! Halloween is my favourite and you sir. Killed it. Pun definitely intended 🤘🏼🎃🔪
One of the good things about the Halloween remake was Rob Zombie's version of Michael Myers. I like the giant Michael Myers.
Top 3
1. James Jude Courtney-simple, effective & brutal
2. Nick Castle- simple yet scary
3. Tyler Mane- most brutal; if I saw him in real life I’d probably 💩 myself 😂😂
6: Chris Durand I like him but he just doesn’t bring anything new to the franchise like you said he’s bland
5: Dick Warlock the way he moves is weird as well as his stretched mask he feels like a worse copy of casle
4: George P Wilbur (only seen H6 not H4) It was a difficult decision between wether to put this at #3 or 4 because he has a great performance because he is scary and he reminds me of Ted White
3: Tyler Mane I like how muscular he is and how tall he is I think he is the scariest Michael ever because of those 2 details
2: Nick Casle this and JJC were almost tied for me I wasn’t sure but I had to go with Nick at second he is also scary and he started all of these people on the list
1: JJC he is the runner up for scariest because of the way he walks and the way he hides with all the mannequins when Laurie is looking for him and he killed a kid!
nolanc94 you forgot don shanks
El petito Padan Dansiero no he doesn’t
El petito Padan Dansiero how does he suck
nolanc94 Halloween 4 is free to watch on RUclips
Tyler Mane was a beast.
8. Shanks
7. Loree
6. Mane
5. Warlock
4. Durand
3. Wilbur
2. Courtney
1. Castle
Durand sucks.
my ranking
1.james jude courtney
2.nick castle
3.tyler mane
4.george p wilbur
5.chris durand
6.dick warlock
7.brad loree
8.don shanks
so i agreed with you on most of these
Love the intro music
The music for your opening for H2018 may be the best music from the whole franchise separate from the original theme
You’re in the extreme minority of all things Halloween it seems
Cody is right, i see JJ Courtney purty much at par with Nick Castle in the future, am i the only that thinks Don Shanks wasn 't a bad Michael, I like him better than Wilbur, and i believe Durand is one of the best Michael portrayals In the series, regarding Mane, he is the Michael for Rob Zombie 's universe, and Warlock gave Michael that feeling of a walking dead kind of, cause lest not forget this was a Michael bordering the threshold of the undead, imo
I didn't think don shanks was a bad Michael ether!
I loved Shanks.
I thought the look and portrayal from Shanks was better than Wilbur as well👍
My list is similar to yours Cody. Here is my Ranking List of all 8 Michael Myers Actors in order:
1. Nick Castle (H1)
2. James Jude Courtney (H18)
3. George P. Wilbur (H4 and H6)
4. Dick Warlock (H2 (1981))
5. Tyler Mane (H(2007) and H2(2009))
6. Chris Durand (H20)
7. Brad Loree (H:R)
8. Don Shanks (H5)
Why nick castle first? he is too overated James and Tyler played better than him nick was not even scarier ,he was stiff and weak and appearance dont even look like boogeyman
I have disagree on Don Shanks. What he brought was a sense of phsyicality to the role, his Myers was more brutal and aggressive than any before him.
All Nighter Productions he was more like Tyler mane
My list would be identical. Especially George Wilbur. I absolutely love Halloween 6
agreed. i like 6 more than h20
Tyler Mane is the Best One He Reminds me Of Jason How Big He Is Definitely The Most intimidating and i think thats whats makes him the best
Kur Ajing Respect your opinion but I just love how dark the movie is .. he would be the last one I would want to be chased by
Whats with the Chris Durand hate?
