- Recently had error code 0x8027025A. Game took too long to start. This video will show you how to take different steps in order to possibly get your game loading again. My situation was a bad hard drive but I go thru several steps in order to resolve the issue

Ye I factory rest my Xbox, you can factory reset it and keep all your games, just gotta re add your accounts back onto it , worked for me.

This seems a good tutorial but it doesn't help me. Everything (yes I do mean everything) gets that error message. I turned my Xbox on today and I got the message about Home taking too long to start
Sorry for the late reply. Are you still getting the same errors? I was having problems with a lot of stuff a little while ago but it was from a bad update in the preview program.

trey 5 my Xbox one x seems laggy, some disks load , other times they don’t. Title screen the just returns to home, other times throws error codes, pushing buttons is unresponsive, it won’t play and DVD’s or Blu-ray and more either

Hard reset works for a lot of issues. This error was driving crazy at first when I first got it. Happy you got it sorted out.

Hard reset worked for me atm. Tried resetting internet, unplugging, using controller reset. Hard reset did it this time

Delete the most recent downloaded or updated game and try
what I do, since I got a wired connection, I unplug it start the game and it works then plug it back in to use the online features. its really tedious but it works. I hope that this works for people. I just wish that Microsoft would address this issue

how i fixed it:
i ran another game, (in my case, the walking dead season two) witch worked.
then, i closed it and opened my other game (mirrors edge catylyst)
then, it loaded.
Glad you got it worked out. Interesting that this approach was able to work. Must have gotten stuck loading and still left it running in the background for some reason

Just to help some people my problem was that I was downloading battlefield 1 and it wasn't working as soon as the download stoped it worked again so I would say don't download big games while you want to play ganes
I have heard a few people talk about issues with the big games. Almost seems like things are getting scrambled when downloading the bigger games.
Oh ok, that also might be my problem. I've got 4 downloads, 2 being games (warframe 43gbs and sacred 3 7gbs) and 2 updates (gears of war 47gbs and horizon 3 9gbs)

if I have to do a factory reset I will flip. It takes me months to download games. And that isn't even an over exaggeration. I live in the Countryside and it is the best internet I can get. It is only 4x faster then dials up.

You get two options when resetting your console, lose everything except downloaded games and lose everything including downloaded games.
Hard reset worked for my 2k19 and fortnite (Neither were starting which I knew was messaged up because 2k19 I have the disc and Fortnite is downloaded on my hard drive) So I tried one downloaded and one disc. The hard reset started both up. THANKS MAN BECAUSE I WAS FREAKING OUT!!!

what should I do if my harddrive is corrupt? just copy the games over or install them again?
You can try to move them to an external drive first to see if they work from their. If your drive is corrupt then trying to reinstall usually does not work without formatting the drive first. My externaldrive was corrupt and anything on the whole drive would not move to a different drive. Once I reformatted my external drive I was able to use it again. Also if you have an external drive then remove the external drive from the console and see if any title will load from the internal drive
i get this code even in settings, games and apps, it wont let me sign into my account because it says it takes too long, ive hard resetted it so many times and nothing seems to work, ive even pulled the plug out of the xbox and let it sit with no power connections for almost 2 days and its the same problems

You might have to do a factory reset. Try to unplug external hard drives, disconnect internet and if nothing else works than do the factory reset. support.xbox.com/en-CA/xbox-one/console/reset-factory-defaults-using-usb-flash-drive

If games are not loading off internal then you may need to do a factory reset. Do any games load?

I just logged out, started BO4, then logged back in. Worked.
All I did was unplug my hard drive then plug it back in and it was fixed

Game saves should be stored in the cloud so it should not be affected.
not if u have Xbox live so yea cloud saves dont get deleted

Robert Pond I was in the same boat as you. try disconnecting it from the Internet then open it. if it works plug it back in. and if it doesn't, just keep doing it till it does
I know I'm no expert but we just got new system and of course when came on it said updates required we started the update hrs later not even 6% done. I went to the website that was on the book in the box and I had my Ethernet cable plugged in and had system set on wireless. I left it on wireless and unplugged Ethernet cable and the update was done in 15mins, and when downloading games it was little slow because if our kids were on their devices so I had the kids turn theirs off for few mins and within 10mins we had both battlefield and rocket league both downloaded. may not work but if your internet is not the fastest or check to make sure that u have console set on wireless or wired because unlike Xbox 360 it can't be set on wireless but Ethernet cable plugged in or set on wired without cable. I got better signal on Xbox 360 with wire plugged in even though it was set on wireless,? but just in case u may want to check that. it's simple mistake that people overlook.goodluck

So my extetnal drive is fucked? Great.
I went and reformatted mine and it has worked since. Just seems to have went corrupt. I put mine on my computer and formatted it and then reconnected it to the console. Formatted it for the console and started putting games back on and have never had any issue since.
