Am I the only one amazed by how much the younger versions of Sheldon and Missy resembled them? It’s almost liked the studio hired the kids a few years earlier.

Mary is a great mother but she enables Sheldon's bad behavior but she puts Georgie down at every turn even if he was never planning on doing anything wrong

The very big difference is intentional. Most of the times George does “wrong” actions because he intends to do so while Sheldon behaves himself and doesn’t intends to hurt others’ feelings.

Georgie often actually does wrong things. Sheldon RARELY does anything wrong....
Remember, most of Sheldon's bad behavior as an adult is because he doesn't grow up, not because he's a bad kid. If Sheldon was a child, he wouldn't be considered that bad. It's because he's an adult.
Sheldon had issues because he went to college early and couldn't grow with peers, along with his mentality having an inability to grow...
Plus, Sheldon is drastically smarter than everyone around him, but unable to comprehend other people's emotions... things that don't mix well.
And that isn't Sheldon's fault either. he can't help that.
What Sheldon needed was a wife that could be his equal and friends that could actually handle him... and a second set of parents to keep him in line....
As much as i like Mary's character, I believe she plays favoritism when it comes to her kids, i know some parents have favorite child, but showing it is just cruel to all the kids involved. I mean the way she enabled sheldon is part of the reason sheldon is the way he is emotionally. I think the show just want us to see that no one is perfect. In my opinion George Snr isn't given enough credit for his role in raising his family. He tries to be the balanced parent. I literally couldnt stand episodes where Mary got upset because her husband wasnt doing things her way, that was so manipulative. Now I know where Sheldon got it from. Meemaw is the best!
You're damn right Meemaw is the best. Mary is a lying liar that lies and hides under the righteousness umbrella. As much as she claims the christian views, she's selectively christian. She manipulates, lies, and insist on having her way, forgive me that doesn't sound very christian-like to me. Poor George.

I really dont think she plays favorites. George and Missy are both head strong and street smart, Sheldon on the other hand is intelligent. He doesn't get sarcasm and usually loves to prove he's right. Missy is affectionate and Sheldon is highly intelligent. Mary gives the attention Sheldon needs. He's trying to teach her son that having feelings is just as important as being smart. Plus, the scene where Meemaw told Missy the truth about her mom deciding to be a Christian believer.

It's Missy and Georgie (especially Missy) who teaches him about social life. Mary babies him and fights everyone who she feels mocks him. The scene she got him a computer, Missy said she had to use booger school book because her parents refused to buy her a book. Something Sheldon has never experienced. (school book mind you). From his train toy sets, to his computer, he gets whatever he ask for while the rest don't. Yeah I understand why she chose to be a christian, if Meemaw was telling the truth.

I feel sorry for Missy just imagine how she felt around Sheldon or her family, she really had no one to pay attention to her. George Jr didn't even care he had his own company in the neighbourhood and when he was small his parents payed attention to him and he just didn't feel the thing what Missy felt. I really felt sorry for her while watching young Sheldon

Actually, Georgie sort of raised himself. After he quit football, his father sort of lost interest in him and his mother never paid any attention to him.

The fact that they are fraternal twins makes quite a bit of difference.

Fraternal would have to be environmental, since there are separate eggs fertilized by separate sperm. The one thing I do not know is, are there any fraternal twins that are the same gender? In all of my case studies, there is always one male, one female, supposedly because the male and female sperm are swimming “neck and neck” with each other to get to the egg. Fascinating to me.

Generally I don't think of Mary as a great parent, but it's admirable that in a conservative small town in Texas, neither she nor George ever forces Sheldon to become more masculine - something I'd expect from such an environment. They've never asked him to do "manly" things against his will but merely let him be himself.

You can really see the twins being polar opposite and I love how different they are with Sheldon being exceptionally intelligent while Missy’s just a regular kid. Yet, during the testing (which wasn’t shown in this clip), you can see that Missy’s observant. Also loved the info at the end that shows that the actress is not only artistic intelligent, but is already involved in activism and the scene with Meemaw telling it like it is. I know, two separate things but, hey, I love this whole clip.
