Dear Jenny, I love it when I place an order and you and Missy do your happy dance-tossing my products onto the counter! I want to jump up and dance, too! Also all the other fun things you say as my order is getting ready..."make like a tree and leaf" " or" like a spool and roll on out of here". Little things mean a lot. I am 80 years old and a begging quilter. Your tutorials are great and so much fun, like a friend helping another friend. I have only been watching for a couple of months, but I can't get enough! Thank you, thank you, thank you! sewing nanny
Thank you so much for your tutorials. I'm 75 and love to quilt. I've learned so much from you. Today is Monday and I'm heading into my studio to start a new quilt. Just know you are a blessing to me.
Jenny, First I love your tutorials. I retired at 65 and thought what am I going to do with all my time so I started watching your videos, went and bought a machine, and started with the jelly roll quilts. Now I have just finished this pattern and love it. Thank you for your help in learning how to sew
Your understanding of the mechanics of these blocks makes a lie of your "angley challenged brain" comment❣️ Truly, Jenny, you are a teacher of excellence❣️❣️❣️
I live in New Mexico and yet if given half an opportunity would travel all the way to Missouri just to personally shake your hand. Been watching these tutorials for years now and while my attempts never turn out perfectly they have certainly gotten better since I found this channel. Lord, I love ya.
5 years on... I still love your tutorial!! Your lightheartedness and simplicity in your explanations and humor makes these sewing so simple and doable to all. Thank you so much Jenny. And your Triple Play makes is more informative, adventurous and sharing of everyone's ideas more opened and mind blowing for us to explore new approach and techniques in sewing and piecing.🥰
so very clever Jenny! I have learned to quilt from you and don't look at anyone else's way of making block patterns. you make it doable. will love you forever! my husband not so much because of all the fabric, notions and machines I have now. He calls you my enabler to my addiction! Ha!
I am totally amazed by how you done it. I use to the do the traditional ones but this sure bets the heck out of that, LOVE IT Jenny, here to the left handed people and the way we see things!!!!
I have loved this block forever but I was too intimidated to try it. I can’t wait to make it using your technique! Thank you Jenny & Missouri star quilt company for making it less intimidating.
I love any quilt pattern that does not require "special" rulers. This is an amazing technique for the Card Trick, particularly how Jenny did the corners. I will certainly give it a go. As a beginner quilter, I do the blocks as sample blocks and make notes as I go along. This will certainly help with my piecing and cutting techniques. Thank you for another great breakdown!
Made it easier? You have, you have!!! Thanks Jenny...one of those patterns that I love, but have always put by the wayside due to it's usual construction methods. Now I have no excuse, lol! Once again very grateful for you and all the folks at M* :)
Jenny, this is absolutely genius! Who would have thought Card Tricks would be so simple! Thank you so much. I have made this quilt but used the old method...now I will be using this way...so simple and easy. Just leave it to you to make quilting easy and fun! Love you girl friend.
Just started out quilting and made your Valentine's heart quilt which you made about 13 year's ago. Thank heavens for your channel I have been following your videos for years before taking the plunge you must have taught thousands of quilters by now your are a lovely , generous teacher so thank you for all your, and your family's hard work.
This is genius! Thank you, thank you, thank you for always making every block of every quilt something all of us can do. You take the intimidation out of even the most complicated looking quilts!
Wow so much easier than the traditional way, which I struggled with some years ago, and haven’t attempted since. I believe I will now. Thank you from the UK
I did make this some years ago but, had forgotten how. so very happy for this tutorial. thank you so very much. I love all your tutorials. it's what got me into quilting. love you Jenny.
So many beautiful quilts and I always think how hard they look to make. Watching your video I feel that I can make. Thank you so much for your beautiful videos 🌹
This is just pure magic and makes this block so much easier to accomplish. I am so impressed and can't wait to make this quilt. I think I'll make an honor quilt for a veteran using a red/white/blue jelly roll. Thank you, Jenny.
Jenny, I did try the card trick the traditional way in a sampler quilt. What a wonderful mind you have to simplify the block like this. It takes some real gifts to be able to think this out. Thank you for all of your wonderful ideas
I made a card trick quilt, maybe 20 years ago like this. I watched Quilt in a Day and that is how Eleanor Burns made the card trick quilt. It's one of my favorite quilts. Great job Jenny.
I don't know who Eleanor Burns is, but I'm grateful that Jenny decided to share her design on RUclips because I didn't even like to sew 20 years ago, and now that I've decided to take after my mom and put my sewing skills to use, RUclips and Jenny aka Missouri star quilting company have helped me to make my creative side be useful. Thank you ladies, I will look her up. And thank you MSQC I will complete my tablecloth that I started after watching this video!!!
I have wanted to make a card trick quilt for quite a long time but was afraid to try it. Now Jenny has make it easier than I could imagine. Thanks so much Jenny. You are amazing.
Great video. Can't wait to try this, when I learn how to quilt. Did anyone else get distracted by the iron being left down? Thanks for sharing your talent with us.
Hello Irma. I own an Oliso itouch iron as Jenny uses. It is what the company calls 'a smart iron' because it lowers with your touch then automatically lifts after you let go. The water reservoir is on the side and does not leak. Mine has never scorched, burnt, or tipped. It is one of the best investments I have made all these years of quilting. Hope this helps explain and hope you have a happy day 💖
Thank you !!! I have been wanting to make this pattern for a long time. I have been needing a companion ruler to make this. I am so happy to see an easier smarter way to make this card trick.
I ve been searching for a pattern where I can use some left over parts of layer cakes and some yardage of a fabric I love. This older tutorial is still gold and I’m so grateful to have access to your teaching skills. Thank you.
Jenny, Just want you to know what an emotional encouragement you are! You are ALWAYS so enthusiastic and easy to follow. Thanks for all the time you put into your videos. Sooo appreciated! I love this block. Will be trying it soon.
This has always been my favorite blocks, always so difficult to make.. THANK YOU < THANK YOU so so much for making my life easier in doing it an easier way. Jenny, You're my life saver.. HUGS..
You have spoiled us!!! I've seen this tutorial before and you make it seem so simple. So.... this time, I watched a very sweet lady show step-by-step how to do the card trick block using 4 colors (just like this one) the old fashion way. She was great, but it was complicated and could be messed-up easily if you do not follow along carefully. ... I think it seemed even more complicated because I'd already seen you do it the 'Jenny's way". I appreciate you even more now. ;)
I know you did this video last year, but I was looking for a good design for a quilt for my cousin's daughter. I picked this one. This is the best quilt I've ever made, it came together perfectly. I did make it one row and one column smaller, it came out great size for a 10 year old. Thanks for all your great tutorials. I can always count on your help when needed!
What a great simplified method to make a "tricky" traditional block! And I always like the added "bonus" block you can get by snowballing the corners. Thanks Jenny and MSQC! Another design to add to my "Must-make Quilts" list, which grows longer by the month thanks to your fabulous tutorial videos. Gorgeous fabric line chosen too--rich teals and plummy red/pink/purples. ~Diana from Hamilton (Canada)
Jenny you are a genius! I have loved this pattern for years, but have always been intimidated by the complexity of it. You make it doable for me. Love it!
I love your videos Jenny. You are so enthusiastic. I’m new to quilting in fact I haven’t made one yet, as I’ve been watching videos and looking at books doing my research. I can’t wait to get started , I’ve bought myself a new sewing machine !!
Still and busy working on my very first quilt, your courtship quilt, i know this will be my next . You make it so easy to follow your instructiions, thanks to you Jenny. Thankfully greetings from Austria, Old Europe 💖🌹
Kun Sun, will you be posting a pic of your courtship quilt on MSQC's Facebook when it's finished? I would love to see it. I have the fabrics ready to make one but it's like 5 quilts back in the queue.
I've got to say, I love, love, love this quilt. I'm new to quilting so I'd never heard of this pattern. Thanks for breaking it down and making it easier for use. The fabric choice is wonderful as well. Great video!
I love this channel! I am a newbie when it comes to quilting but after watching your videos, you have given me the confidence I needed! I love how you can take something that is complex or at least looks that way and you break it down into simple steps. I also like how you say it doesn’t have to be perfect and many old quilts never were 100% perfect but they still have a purpose and are beautiful!
Thank you Jenny. I am a beginner at quilting and love how you teach. Watching this video was so fun that I produced a crib sized quilt for my new grandson. Other videos from this channel helped to plan it. From choosing the backing I picked the colours to do the top. Wish I could send you a picture of it.
Love this! I love the card trick block. I while ago I made a couple of sample blocks using all those triangles. What a pain. This method is a breeze. Thanks Jenny!
This has always been one of my favorite quilt blocks! Thank you for making it easier to make. Now if only I could have an easy way to make the Star Spin quilt too! That would be awesome.

This one was pretty easy, I did a few others, the Dresden I to am hooked on. Just love them. I didn't have a template the first time, (made my own out of cardboard) ended up with a Dresden with 15 pieces lol. So far the easiest way I’ve discovered to make this gorgeous block😊 Jenny, you make it look so easy, no biased edges. You’re a wonder😊 Thanks so much for yet another great tutorial. Can see so many possibilities, runners, cushions etc. From OZ
Hi Jenny. Watched the tutorial Saturday Lunchtime, Sunday night have a cot quilt topper. I am not a fan of white, so used mint green as my background. I finished it off by making lozenges in my border... so stoked at how it came out. (I have posted it on the MSQC forum pages) Thanks for a quick and easy weekend project.
I've seen, and made so many of your quilts, I can't believe I can still learn something new each time. Thanks
Oh I'm so glad you figured out a new way to make that block. I love the block but it always took so much cutting. Thanks guys
Dear Jenny, I love it when I place an order and you and Missy do your happy dance-tossing my products onto the counter! I want to jump up and dance, too! I like the way you make your blocks, you are so fun and make things simple for people who don't have much time but like to quilt.

I think I'm just going to make one of each of the blocks you've shown us how to make... and stick em all together and see what I come up with. This one was pretty easy, I did a few others, the Dresden I to am hooked on. Just love them. I didn't have a template the first time, (made my own out of cardboard) ended up with a Dresden with 15 pieces lol. Re did it and got a 20, then I cut my own permanent template out of a old piece of plexi glass. I've cut up at least 4 squares worth of pieces/petals, of all the material I have in my stock. I think your channel is the best one on the Net. Thank you Jenny, for your many years of knowledge and your sunny disposition, that keeps me coming back to hear the duck quack each day. Happy Quilting. Thank you.
