I made a larger version of this block and entered it in our county fair's quilt block contest 5 yrs ago. It was the first big block I'd ever made and I did it in a hurry as I'd just decided to enter at the last minute! Imagine my surprise to find the Grand Champion ribbon hanging from it after the judging!!
Marvellous as usual Jenny. I’m a Nurse and go days without being able to do any sewing ☹️ so after a busy day at work I relax watching your tutorials and learning new technics and it fills the quilting gaps in my life and cheers me up no end. Thank you for all your hard work making quilting such a joy for us all. Love your work. Bless you, Penny UK.
I love, love, love your tutorials!! I am a beginner sewer, slowly trying to teach myself. With 3 rambunctious boys (& homeschooling them!) I needed a girlie hobby for my own sanity lol! I always thought I could never make quilts with all those tiny pieces and seams, but watching you, Jenny, makes me say, "Hey! I can do that!" Thank you!!
I love love you and your video, I am quilting almost two years now and you have taught me everything, I consider myself an intermediate quilter today and I am thankful to your videos, I am now doing a scrappy quilt and enjoying every minute of it thanks again
Thank you I finally tried to make the star n after trying n trying n giving up I was finally able to make the star because I watched your video n how you made it n you gave simple n easy direction s thank you
Some day I shall visit your store!!! I love your videos, you are so great to just listen to while I am busy creating! I love how you always wear a cardigan and apron. Just can't tell you enough how glad I am you do these videos. Thank you so much for helping the "Newbie" get better at quilting.
I so learned more about the stars. I haven't tried yet as I am just getting started with quilting. A family hobby through the generations. Thank you so much for the ease of it
Great ideas! I love the border and the thrifty use of fabric. This would be lovely in batik or 1930’s or most any choice. This is so versatile. Thank you for speeding up the learning curve again-still in love with your recent 54-40 version. Clever❤️
Jenny, you are an excellent teacher. I saw that quilt and said “no way, that’s too hard”. Yet after watching your tutorial, I think I can! Thanks again for a great quilt and great instructions!💖
I love this quilt. I'm not usually into stars, however, it's the little 4 patches that I love. Watching you sew them is mesmerizing. Thank you for showing all the steps I couldn't do it without you showing the details. I think I want to try using a light pale palette for an old fashioned look. Thank you.
I really love this quilt pattern I want to make it in purples and greens I love your video's and all of your quilt patterns you have done something great in making quilting fabric sewing and patterns so much easier for us all . Love you and your shops , God bless you and your family.
It's like Jenny knew I am in star quilt planning mode..! ;) Going to make a star quilt as a my second quilt this winter. Just need to finish machine quilting my first quilt before I start.
Jenny you are just so fantastic! I'm having trouble quilting lately and so I'm sitting on the couch crocheting and watching you quilt :-) Your voice is so pleasant and I love the way you explain the steps! I can't wait to make this when I get back to my sewing machine :-)
Another great job on a beautiful quilt Jenny, I love it, and I love the fabric that was used. I have to play your videos once everyday just so I can get to hear that music that they play when there wanting to speed up the work. I am so thankful you have stayed with the same tune. When I hear it, I think of MSQC. :)
This is a beautiful quilt .... makes me tired just watching all those little 4 patches come together ... but yes I can't wait to make this one ... Christmas fabric would be beautiful ... red white & blue would be AWESOME !!!!
You have an amazing gift of taking something that looks difficult and making it easy to do Jenny! You’ve given me such confidence. I’m also “angle-ee” challenged and thankfully find using my ripper therapeutic! Lol. Love 💕 MSQC !
This tutorial is great! I always appreciate how you teach . This is one I have been looking at for awhile and I am going to get started. You teach in a way that is easy to understand. Thanks for all you do ! Jeanne H.
🌺🌸I finished mine yesterday, I’m so happy and proud! I added a 2 1/2 inch white border to make it a little bigger. Thanks for the great tutorial and the pattern! I quilted it on my sewing machine with the help of a Craftsy class by Ann Peterson.
Fabulous tutorial once again from the Queen 👸 of quilting. Just finishing up my Grand Adventures top & this will be my next project with a Christmas 🎄 jellyroll I bought on a daily deal 😊
This is a great tutorial and was a lifesaver because their digital pattern I download was confusing and if I had not seen this video, I would have cut the jelly strips incorrectly. The pattern instructions say to "sew 2 print jelly strips together, along the length; then to cut each strip into 2 1/2 by 4 1/2. As indicated in the video it is to cut them into 2 1/2 by 2 1/2.
Jenny, Thank you so very much for sharing with us. I love this pattern,....I love jelly rolls (as your sales dept know oh so well lolollol) Right now I am going thru a KFC period.....color color color........I think I am going to break open on of my Jelly Rolls and use a solid peach or teal for back ground..........oh I am so excited.........thanks again.
Excelente tutorial! Aprendí mucho con tus vídeos la pasión y el amor por tu trabajo traspasa la pantalla! Un saludo enorme desde la Patagonia Argentina
I just finished this pattern using stonehedge stars and stripes with bone background and blue star points. I have some 4 patches left over, enough to maybe make a small bag or a pillow to go with the quilt.
Love love love it Jenny and the fabric you use is totally awesome love the colors and of course my sewing room is purple my favorite color❣️🪡🧵✂️💓💕❤️💗💖😜
I was looking for a couple of weeks now for a pattern to do with patriotic colors. This is the one i ran across tonight and i will be using to do mine.
I love star quilts but do not like flying geese...love this pattern! And, I , you know when you have been trained by Jenny when you think..you could chain piece those leg pieces...then she says let's chain these legs! LOL
Another beaUUUUUtiful quilt. I love stars and especially love green/purple combination. I did wonder though, since you were cutting squares from background and complementary fabric yardage, why you didn't cut 3 inch squares to mark and sew on either side of the diagonal line to get 2 hst from each one to net twice as many for half the work. (Wow....that was one long run-on sentence! :) )
I am making this quilt but I did not have the jelly roll, I had the 10" squares. Lots more combinations, so less likely to put any two like squares together. So far so good.
hermoso gracias siempre estudio tus vídeos, me gusta como explicas. aunque no se nada de ingles. te entiendo todo x las explicaciones. un abrazo desde Colombia.
Since you used the same fabric for all the star points and the background each what about increasing the size or just taking like the two fat quarter method and then drawing out your continuous half Square triangles where they're 3/8 of an inch larger and then you get to complete units for each pairing? by the way I love this it's awesome and the colors you chose are just terrific purple and green combinations with a little bit of Dusty pink probably are my number one or number two choice of fabric lines now. And this one is amazing.
@@jennydoan57 Yeah, my brain does that too. I call it "brain fog" when I just can't see something. We're sure your crew is going to give you advice all the time. What's up with them falling down in their job????? Lol
I am Liz. Lol, I forgot my acct is in hubby's name! I am a girlie girl and with growing up with 5 sisters, learning to handle my house full of boys has been a process! Learning to sew has been an enjoyable "me" time!

I don't know why but I think it's true that most quilter's love stars. Plus you have purple that makes it even better. Good job!
I think you're right about quilters and stars!

Excellent! Why are star blocks so amazing? I'm always drawn to them. Love the four-patch center, and patchwork border, too! Twinkle, twinkle!
Love the fabric. Love the camera angles/shots. And love Jenny of course.
It's like Jenny knew I am in star quilt planning mode..! ;) Going to make a star quilt as a my second quilt this winter. Just need to finish machine quilting my first quilt before I start.

Love the tip re.1/8" sew line which I think makes sense even if the quilt is to be quilted at home.
Jenny if you cut the strips in half then you would have more variety in the 4 patches. Love this one. Great job as usual.
This tutorial is great! I always appreciate how you teach . This is one I have been looking at for awhile and I am going to get started. You teach in a way that is easy to understand. Thanks for all you do ! Jeanne H.

Beautiful quilt..nice choice of material, too, especially as Aubergine was one of the precuts I plan on purchasing soon!

Thanks kcashatt51! We hope you have a great weekend as well!
havent checked yet but hope they still have this color i love it
Very beautiful. My blocks always come out wonky. Now I know how to fix that just trim it. Thanks for the tip.
This would be super cute with 4” finished 4-patch stars in the sashing in place of the 4-patches 😍
So you still have a 4.5” sashing.
can't wait to try this one! this may become a baby blanket.
How fun Chrysa Hefty! Be sure to send us pictures of the finished product! :)
Beautiful quilt. Looks so easy.
Such a gorgeous project. Thanks Jenny 💜

I made this quilt block 14x14 and i loved it, thank you

Making those flying geese starpoints four-at-a-time would save a lot of fabric!
I love this quilt. I just may have to make it my next project!
Love this pattern! Great tutorial!
Love 💘it!! Lots of negative space to show off the quilting. 👍job.
Just saying you never use straight pens & your pieces match perfect. Your amazing. Thanks for sharing....

Another beaUUUUUtiful quilt. I love stars and especially love green/purple combination. ...and I did miss seeing the backing---you ALWAYS pick great backs....
I am making this quilt but I did not have the jelly roll, I had the 10" squares. Lots more combinations, so less likely to put any two like squares together. So far so good.
