Any suggestion as to how to remove an internal ("mortised") tilt latch with a broken slide mechanism? The latch is now stuck and the window can't be tilted.
Had the same problem. Couldn't release window to change latch. Used a small flat head Screwdriver slid in in the channel below the latch was able to push the plastic up and pull the window out. The piece that pulls the latch up was broken. Used a Screwdriver like in the video and them slide the new latch in.
Okay, okay, but I am in trouble plenty, the button that slides on the latch to open the window broke off, haha, and all I see now is the spring, don't ask me where the broken piece went, I tried to do it with one prong and if fell into the window somewhere. I am sick to my stomach right now, there is these two prongs one either side of the window, and since I got no button, (plastic, what is the matter with these manufacturers, they stink and easily break) I can't open the window to remove the tilt latch. If anyone can help, I would we deeply appreciate, I am a 75 year old woman, living in an apartment complex, don't ask me where the repair man is, haven't seen him in nearly two weeks now. I am buying the new latch at HomeDepot, but how in the world do i get the old one off now??? If anyone can help.
thanks! I used your video to repair my window

It seems these videos do everything but tell you that sigh
My latch is missing the push, slide pieces...and can't tilt the window open to then replace it
I just broke the lock tabs on my grand daughters window!! Can they be replaced or do I have to buy a new window?
Did you figure it out?!
That's great, but what if the latch will not retract and you can't tilt the window in?
Richard Freedman same question I had.
Yes. My broken told latch won't let me release the windows from the frame.

God I love RUclips!!
nice and very simple
Wow. I had to have the entire window reframed to fix mine… cause the mechanism was internal to the frame.
"Just lock her down." Lol
