    • @TheTrueHolyDarkness
      @TheTrueHolyDarkness 3 года назад +238

      Also Cloud: *gets stabbed by sephiroth.*
      Sephiroth: *gets counter-stabbed by cloud and thrown meters into the lifestream, but is perfectly fine later. So is cloud.*
      Dyne: *successfully commits suicide by jumping off a cliff after that whole barret episode.*
      Tifa: *gets slashed by sephiroth and falls down at least two stories worth of stairs. nah she's fine.*
      Aerith: *gets stabbed by sephiroth yet no amount of healing magic works all of a sudden(?).*
      Zack: *gets sniped and just plain drops dead.*
      Cloud: *sniped by a bullet that **_CLEARLY runs him through_** at the end of advent children. anti-climatically gets up two seconds later, no damage to his sweater (wut?).*
      Durability feats are HELLUVA inconsistent in FF7. It's just plain poor writing on FF7's part, and my greatest pet peeve with it's storytelling. I don't mean to bash everything about FF7's writing, but there's little to no tension in their fights precisely because there's no telling what's meant to be a "lethal wound" in their world. Too much anime-logic in how injuries work in their world if you ask me.
      It's one of the things I really appreciate about the FFXV: Kingslayer movie. Square's writers finally learned to treat a character getting injured as actually _getting injured._
      If I told you that I work for Square-Enix, and that in the next big FVII update we're going to mix things up by having Yuffie, Vincent, and/or Cid getting sniped and/or stabbed with a piece of rhubarb (during a cutscene), as a fan, you'd have no idea as to whether or not you should be concerned with how we're "changing things." Wouldn't you?

    • @TheTrueHolyDarkness
      @TheTrueHolyDarkness 3 года назад +146

      EDIT: One last observation...
      Cloud: *can survive supernova, so naturally this makes him too durable for Link to handle*
      The rest of the Avalanche Cast: *can also survive supernova*
      By this logic, any member of AVALANCE is just plain too tanky to be stopped by the likes of say, Samus Aran's plasma beams, let alone Link, right?
      Fire Lord Ozai? More like Fire Loser Osai as far as Barrett's immune black ass is concerned.
      Not even the Phoenix Force could ever hope to put a dent into Yuffie Kisaragi! She's too stronk against flame!
      Superman's heat vision against the MIGHTY CAITH SITH?! Hardy har har. Such tactics are nothing before the almighty supernova durability feat. CAITH MOTHERFUCKIN SITH eats thousands of years worth of the Sun's energy output for breakfast!
      *Also according to Deathbattle.*
      Tifa Lockhart loses to Yang Xiao Long, a martial artist character whose signature super-power is called "Burn."

      @@TheTrueHolyDarkness I am in no way saying you're wrong, but I am giving what I think could be somewhat reasonable explanations. I'm not saying "actually it works like this," just how I think.
      Sephiroth could have missed vital organs. It's not impossible that Cloud would survive. After all, we know Sephiroth likes to play with his toys before he breaks them.
      The lifestream is insane and Sephiroth is essentially a clone of Jenova. Not surprised he survived.
      Dyne was a regular human. He fell and bashed his head probably who knows how many times, and didn't even struggle.
      Tifa could have gotten a shallow wound, doing more surface damage than real damage. Again, Sephi likes to play with his toys before he breaks them. As for the stairs, as long as she didn't break her neck, she'd come out with a few nasty bruises, but overall, okay.
      I still don't know about Aerith, but my idea is that dying and being K.O.'d is very different. Given how cheap materia and healing items can be, I feel that they cannot actually bring someone back to life. They can only resuscitate an unconscious person. That said, when Aerith got stabbed, I imagine is was right through the heart.

    • @kirara2516
      @kirara2516 3 года назад +21

      @@SenjiroAkechi what you should be asking is, after Cloud gets hit by Yazoo, he then actually 'dies' by an explosion of Yazoo and Loz overloading their materia. Ie: uses ancient arrows but shoots the bike instead of Cloud, uses stasis but just stands there instead of actually doing something during the time freeze, and then he uses the invisibility cloak to do nothing? These are the kinds of things I expect to see from the death battle combatant that ends up winning, to show how many powers they have over their opponent and how many ways they could win, but he lost in the end?

      Anyway, no, Link was actually using them as best he could.
      He baited Cloud using Magnesis to draw him near the bike and then used it on the bike to ensure that Cloud couldn't see or dodge the arrow (we see that Cloud is incredibly near the bike and gets hit by the Ancient Arrow's explosion), but Cloud toughed it out. He very clearly did not just stand there during Stasis, Cloud used his own time stop on Link. And he uses the invisibility cloak to escape Cloud's attack and get as far as he can, but as they already showed, he wouldn't be able to attack like that cause he's intangible, and he can't stay cloaked cause the cloak drains mana.

    I feel like speed scaling in death battle often doesn't reflect how fast the characters really are, like in that world are the laser beams and lightning attacks really as fast as ours? or with Cloud if he can scale to a creature who can move across the solar system in like 10 seconds then couldn't he have instantly travelled across the continent in his search of sephiroth if he is anyway scalable to that. I don't really have a solution, but I just feel these kind of speed scaling often gives a result which makes a character seem way faster than what they are otherwise represented as being in the game.

      Link doesn't zap across the skies like a lightning bolt either, but he can react fast enough to dodge it. Both Zack and Cloud being first class soldiers (or just being beyond the level of one in Cloud's case) meant they had superhuman reflexes and speed, but it's that reactive speed and their own speed that allows them to keep up with Bahamut and Sephiroth and Weapons, etc. If you can anticipate, react and move just fast enough, then a fast opponent means nothing.

You can't actually quantify skill, but there is no reasonable argument that puts Link's level of skill any significant amount greater than Cloud's (its actually easier to argue that Cloud is the more skilled swordsman).

      The issue is, though said abilities were not included in the fight, they were taken into consideration. Its just that they didn't have the time or budget to include everything from both characters. The fact of the matter is, none of Link's arsenal makes any real difference.
      Daruk's protection isn't going to do much. Being able to block 3 attacks isn't going to change anything, when his opponent is massively stronger and faster than Link. Not to mention, Cloud literally has the ability to turn off barrier, like Daruk's, on a whim (Turning off magical effects like that is literally the purpose of the magic, dispel.).
      As far as bullet time, when you consider how much faster Cloud is than Link, even when Link has bullet time active, Cloud would still be moving faster than Link could comprehend. Ignoring that point, it still wouldn't have ended the fight for 2 major reasons. Reason 1, in BOTW, Ancient arrows don't do the instant death effect on more powerful enemies, such as bosses, and Cloud EASILY outpowers every boss in LOZ combined. Reason 2, even if we ignore reason 1, and assume the instant death would work on Cloud, it still doesn't matter, because Cloud literally has immunity to instant death effects. Point being, best case scenario for Link, Ancient arrows would only do damage to Cloud, and considering the power difference between the two, that damage would be negligible.

The fact is, Fierce Deity's best feat, if we are being generous, is cutting the moon in half. Saying that he might be upwards of solar system level (which he would have to be in order to even start being in the conversation with Cloud.), is a straight up appeal to probability fallacy (VS community better knows it as a no limits fallacy, but I personally think that name is misleading, as there are characters with no limits, that the fallacy still applies to.).
      It makes sense that Mipha's is the only champion ability we see. Its the only one that actually matters. Revali's just gives Link the high ground for a short time, but Cloud would literally be able to jump to catch up to Link, as well as he has plenty of magical range options. Urbosa's would actually be detrimental to Link, as Cloud has immunity to paralysis, as well as lightning magic literally heals him. Daruk's is the only other one that might be helpful, but blocking 3 attacks is only mildly helpful, as well as Cloud can literally just shut it off with dispel (which, I'm not gonna lie, that would have been fun to see.).
      Personally, I would rather see Link in a fight that is a closer match. It would be more interesting (at least for me), to question who is going to win, as compared to putting him against Cloud, where there really isn't a question.

      It *has* actually been destroyed before in WindWaker and A Link Between Worlds.
      And considering Cloud potentially netting power beyond even what the full TriForce has shown (Knights of the Round's summon attack is described as destroying the dimension they're in with King Arthur's sword swing in databooks, SuperNova destroys dimensional space in Dissidia, and potential scaling to Multiversal feats from characters such as NeoExdeath via FF: Tactics and Dissidia), he should be powerful enough to shatter the goddesses' gift.
      But aside from that, the animation is mainly just for entertainment, that was just there cause it would be cool. The TriForce of Courage hasn't really ever been shown to be capable of defending or harming things for Link. In fact, it rarely does... anything really, it mostly just sits there until a very specific event happens.

    A year later and while I still think Cloud could beat normal Link, there is NO SHOT he beats the Fierce Deity. You can scale Fierce Deity far above Majora, the same Majora who can be scaled to Dimensional/Universal (as Termina is a separate dimension from Hyrule, think of it like a pocket dimension, similar to the one Sephiroth creates for his Supernova attack). This Majora is also able to move in-between dimensions (the "inside" of the moon) that have no time (time does not progress "inside" the moon) ergo he should also have immeasurable speed to be able to move without time, or at the very least, can't be frozen by time stop (also in the Majoras Mask manga, it is specifically described as a "world" within Majora, so no it is not actually the moon).
    This Majora obliterates the Hero of Time if he is not stopped, there is 0 chance for Link to survive the destruction of this dimension besides rewinding time. This is the same Link who possesses 1/3rd of the Triforce, an artifact capable of creating a Universe, so it's not too much of a stretch that Link could have the attack potency of 1/3rd universal (or multi galaxy. I'm not saying he can destroy multiple galaxies, only that he has the strength to harm those that could) and this is also a Link post OoT, so he should scale above any feats performed in that game including defeating Ganon fully powered by the well, Triforce of power which just like Courage is another third of the triforce, the object that created the universe. Even if you don't believe that scaling, the triforce of power *alone* was enough to create Hyrule/Earth and was able to save Ganon from what would've been a fatal blow.
    Tl;dr OoT Link alone scales above Ganon, who scales to planetary at lowball and 1/3rd universal (multi galaxy) at highest. Said Majora is able to one-shot this Link if his plan is not stopped.
    In the games, The Fierce Deity takes very little damage from any of Majora's full strength (in the manga, he doesn't take *any* damage, able to completely tank a direct energy blast), this is again the same Majora who is able to create and/or manipulate entire Dimensions as well as destroy said Dimension at full power. Fierce Deity *bullies* Majora.
    In conclusion, while I'm not saying TFD would one-shot Cloud or anything, I highly doubt Cloud could defeat TFD, especially if we go by Deathbattle rules and use a comp-link, who should have all his other items, equipment, feats etc. So, in theory, you could say give TFD the Sheikha Slate, the Goron Bracelets, Mipha's grace etc. At that point, Cloud has no shot.

    • @ikeillue8385
      @ikeillue8385 Год назад +5

      You are wanking LOZ power scaling a lot here. You have to be EXTREMELY generous to scale Majora to even planet level. More accurately he is powerful enough to pull a mountain sized moon out of orbit. Moving in-between dimensions is a hack, not any kind of attack potency scale. And, unless he is moving while he is frozen in time, your "immeasurable speed" thing is inaccurate, as they are still functioning within their own time.
      The Triforce is not capable of creating a universe. It is what remained in the place that the goddesses left Hyrule from. Furthermore, even if that wasn't the case, creation is not the same as attack potency. The Triforce's attack potency is really not all that impressive. The best its ever been shown was dropping a building on an enemy, and even that could be argued that it was just happenstance that it actually killed the enemy in question, since it was just returning the building to its original location. OOT Link is no where near planet level. At the end of OOT, Link and Zelda have to flee Hyrule castle before it collapses on them, otherwise they die. They aren't even large building level. Again, the Triforce "feats" aren't actually attack potency feats.
      Fierce Deity absolutely is able to bully Majora. But Majora is not nearly as powerful as you are making him out to be. Again, creation and destruction are not the same, so him being able to create a dimension is completely irrelevant. But lets pretend they are for a second that it is the same. Then the weakest summons in Final Fantasy 7 are also casual universal, as they all canonically create their own separate dimensions to pull enemies into, to avoid collateral damage. I don't think I need to explain how much higher than Chocobo Mog Cloud scales.
      Not only would Cloud have a shot, he would pretty casually overpower FD. FD's best attack potency feat, which isn't even canon btw, is cutting a tiny moon in half. Cloud is dealing lethal damage to a being who shrugs off a supernova with out flinching. Even if you include a composite Link, giving him all of his equipment from all games, most is irrelevant compared to Cloud's shear power, and the rest Cloud has straight up counters for. So, Link needs a composite build to even start being in the discussion, but still gets beaten down by Cloud 99 out of 100 times.

      Why does it not make sense how they measured Cloud's speed? Bahamut Fury was directly shown to be capable of traveling at those speeds (at least those speeds), so unless you are going to make the argument that Bahamut is one of the only creatures ever, both in the real world and in fiction, that is capable of moving faster than its able to perceive, there is nothing wrong with that scaling.

      I don't think that matters much when the summon, Knights of the Round, ignores defenses along with Cloud having Protective Boots that make him Immune to Slow and Stop, therefore Cloud flat out wins in the Time Stopping department and people that say Link somehow resists Time Stopping are reaching too much.
      The Q&A Blogspot posted by the Research Team and Ultraguy, after this fight came out, went into FULL detail on why Cloud definitely wins, not to mention compositing Link in general is BS and Non-Canon, has never been shown having all of his weapons and abilities at once in the games and the fact that the Hero of Time was clearly a separate being from Twilight Princess Link and had to actually teach the other person their techniques instead of remembering their past lives where even if you do composite, it only seems fair to let Cloud have all of his Materia which can actually counter all of Links Gear along with Clouds Ribbon, Boots, Summons and Spells, its just that most people think that Links gear is more memorable and don't pay much attention to all the stuff Cloud has and you can even make a good argument that Cloud actually CAN use any Materia as explained in the Q&A. They even debunked Universal Link in that one, too.
      I was even able to change Smash Brackets mind on the Verdict too by pointing them towards that Q&A when they were sure Link had this with the Chateau Romani and Magic Cape, but again, Knights of the Round and a few other counters Cloud had that could make him attack intangible beings.

      The thing that changed was their research standards. Cloud was their first RPG character in Death Battle, and that means there is a lot of player choice in what powers and what not they have. Because of this, in the original, they chose to create an "iconic" version of Cloud. Basically, its the character that most people think of, when they think of Cloud. The problems with that is, they used that as their standard, instead of looking at his actual feats and arsenal. Essentially, it turned Cloud from a solar system level, multi thousand times light speed moving expert warrior with a hugely versatile arsenal, into a guy with a big sword. Link has dealt with guys with big swords before, so the "iconic" version of Cloud they used lost.

    Glad they rectified their mistake from the first battle. That one was a farce where they gave Cloud no materia and downplayed his superhuman feats in Advent Children.

That's my main gripe with this one, is that they judged his speed stats off something that wasn't even from him, especially since it's a level that would've literally trivialized everything else in the setting if it was accurate.

      @@norrecvizharan1177 yeah I their multiple times faster than light calculations they come up with like in the Goku v Superman battles don't always make a whole lot of sense. Especially when things like tanking a supernova are gameplay mechanics more than actual canon feats of power.
      Live action movies are generally much more reliable indicators. Which is why we know Cloud is so powerful, because of Advent Children where they had him blocking bullets and jumping like 300 meters at a time while cutting through concrete and steel buildings.

      I'm noticing a trend among the rematches. The loser of the first match wins the rematch due to the inverse of what caused them to lose the first time. I.E Mario lost to Sonic because he couldn't counter his speed, but in the rematch, he beat Sonic because speed was his only advantage
