The extended or directors cut of Nightmare 5 on vhs has a yellow label on the front cover that says "The full length uncensored version, contains material not seen in the theatrical release." The run time is 91 mins, the only differences are the kills are all extended. The vhs movie dumpster has is the theatrical cut, Media released both versions. The VHS and maybe laser disc are the only way to watch the uncensored version as of now, I suggest you check it out Tony, you will probably like the extended kills.

i watched Elm Street 5 for DVD a week ago and just noticed this in the very beginning of the movie and never noticed it for a long time. apparently Freddy Krueger has resurrection powers where he used it to bring Amanda Krueger's soul back to life somehow and use her torture her in the dream world to give birth to him while having Alice witness it. Strange moment and pretty evil and twisted for Freddy Krueger to do something like to his dead mother's soul

Since it was brought up, i find nothing wrong with the ending of part 4. It's in the Dream Master rhyme: "evil will see itself, and it shall die!" I just figured since Alice was in a church, she used the church's stained glass to give power to the trapped souls to escape. I have no problem with the one-liners. As I mentioned on the Elm Street 4 video, i saw the latter ones before I saw the early ones. I saw 4-Freddy's Dead when i was little. I watched 4 at a friend's house. Don't remember when i first saw 5, and my step-dad took my to see Freddy's Dead in theaters when it first came out. I don't think that they "forgot" the dream powers. I just think that they went away when Freddy died because Alice got them from Kristen. In Elm Street 4, only Dan survived. So, that's how Alice got new friends. It's explained by Mark that Amanda killed herself after Freddy was freed. So, I'm guessing that someone hid her body. I never thought that Amanda was supposed to fight Freddy. That's why she needed Alice's help. I never noticed Freddy in the wall.

    • @beatrice_boepple_elmstreet6325

After her son, Freddy, was mobbed by the angry parents, Amanda locked herself away in that tower.. sealed the bricks around the room, in essence, killing herself, but without "technically" committing suicide, which would be considered a sin. She couldn't face the "curse" she had brought in to the world, yet, as a mother, she still did love her son. It was an agonizing and tragic situation for any mother.

This was the first Nightmare movie I saw in the theater…I was the target (child) audience for Freddy-Mania. Immediately, I noticed a different vibe to it, but still liked it. Mark was a cool character, too! Was definitely bummed about the smaller bodycount - even at the age of 6 or 7 when I saw it. 😂. I think it unfairly gets dunked on though…easy target as far as I’m concerned. For my money, Freddy Vs Jason is way worse.
For all intents and purposes….as rushed as the turnaround time was from getting a greenlight to release….things could have/SHOULD have been much worse. There are a ton of Dumpster favorites that I always thought were way worse. 😂

    • @ryanjacobson2508
      @ryanjacobson2508 Год назад

You could see the target audience's age dropping as the series went on.... Part 1 has relatively nuanced portrayals of the adult characters and is dark, Part 2 is still dark but this time the adults are portrayed as caricatures. Part 3 introduces some corny elements and fantasy stuff, Part 4 is shot brightly and tones down the visceral violence a great deal, and Englund really embraces the camp. Part 5 introduces a child character, and Part 6 is very cartoonish and literally has Freddy playing a video game (at that time, video games were played mainly by people under the age of about 16).

This one goes for a slow somber feel and is all about female issues and female themes with the pregnancy plot in doing so the film is slower paced and lacks a body count but female audiences will enjoy this film more because it's aimed more at them then a male audience. They didn't think they could go bigger then 4 so instead they went smaller and tried to make a more personal story for the female hero.

This was the first Nightmare on Elm Street movie I watched in it's entirety. I was 8, I think. I had spent the night with my older cousin, and she rented this and Jason Takes Manhattan 😆. This movie freaked me out, and to this day I do Not like taking showers in a booth type shower with the clear doors. I always think they just might get stuck and fill up with water to drown me😱😝.

i saw something where it explained the sweater choice. i guess the colors red and green together (stripes) cause some confliction on the eyes which can be unpleasant? so that is the red and green thing.

Part 6 is a guilty pleasure as it was the first time I was 10 on tv and was old enough to get the lore and I watched 2, 3 and 4 with my brother and then I watched them over and over on my vcr I got for Christmas and started to binge on them and I became an immediate diehard fan and nearly jumped up and down when I saw the tv advert for Freddy vs Jason and for my 13th birthday I got a 7 disc special edition of the nightmare collection part 1 and 3,4 were my favorite movies of the series I like part 2 and 7 for the more darker tone and the version of Freddy, but my favorite iteration of Freddy is part 3 where he's a dark combination of both one liners and atmosphere

1989 was pretty lackluster not just for Freddy but other horror franchises with weak sequels like Halloween 5 and Jason Takes Manhattan which was weird because just the year before all three franchises had some good sequels.

It was the beginning of the end, I didn't hate it, but it was just very forgettable. Also, Nightmare 4 in 1988 did really damn good at the box office and Nightmare 5 had a massive drop off compared to 4. People were getting burned out on slashers in general by 1989 and Freddy did jump the shark with all the merchandise and all the MTV s@@t.

I always thought, based on seeing Freddy at the end of 4, that Robert was Freddy hiding in her subconscious, not Freddy's dad.. and when she "wakes" next to Robert instead of Dan, that was telling us that she just had sex with Freddy in the dream, and as you know you can bring things out of the dream... And Freddy didn't use protection in the dream, and then the family resemblance line.. Jacob is literally Freddy's son...

As much as I love 3, ( saw it in the theatre with my dad at 13), he started the shenanigans and one liners in that film. In my old age I really just appreciate one and two so much. New nightmare had a awesome first half and then well.

By now it's a trope that in a horror series, each movie will be less serious than the last if the series runs long enough. I know Universal greenlit a spoof version of Jaws 3 until Spielberg intervened and said he would end his work for the studio if that type of movie was released.

I think they should of stopped at 5 movies. Freddy's dead should of have the best bits of dream child and mix it. I think by the time Freddy's dead it was over extending and it would of been poetic because it would of ended in 1989.

You mentioned sequels to slashers, what if you did a video series ranking sequels of the big-time horror franchises against each other? Rank every Nightmare, Halloween, Friday, Chainsaw, Hellraiser, Childs Play ect against each other? Who had the best 2nd, 3rd, 7th installment? I don't think I have seen this done yet.
