@mrtopcat2 just excuses. In what situation is it acceptable not to do your job because you think someone else might not be doing their's? Imagine whining to your boss after you miss a deadline or not finishing a job saying: "What's the point? That other guy wasn't going to do his job anyway!"
DA can't do anything unless he has a suspect and evidence to bring to trial. That is all on the police.

I stood in my window and watched a car pull up behind my car (which was parked on the street). The passenger got out and went straight to my driver side door. I yelled out really loudly and he ran back to the waiting car and they took off. When I got downstairs, I found that he had taken some sort of tool and completely destroyed the locking mechanism of my car. SMH

I don't know if they exist, but a personal wheel boot might slow a thief down enough so they don't want to bother. It would be a hassle putting it on & taking it off but it beats filing a claim on stolen and/or stripped car. Of course if you're elderly or have mobility issues, it's not practical.
I wonder if the old school anti-theft devices like The Club and installing kill switches would work now. It seems the more computers on board, the easier it is to steal.

They sell steering wheel locks called “ The Club”. Maybe look into it if your car is prone to get stolen . They mentioned a dash cam or surveillance, what’s a video recording going to do if the thief is unrecognizable
The club can be take off in literally seconds. Steering wheels can be cut easily. They're designed to bend and so they won't kill you in a crash.
But clubs can deter anybody looking for an easy target. Why steal the car with a club if there's another without a club parked just down the block?

Of course it's not a guarantee against theft, I never claimed that. But you seem to think that criminals WANT to do extra work. They don't. They're USUALLY crimes of opportunity, so make that opportunity harder for them anyway you can.

Brake Club Lock, Ignition Kill Switch, Viper 2-Way Paging Aftermarket Alarm with proximity sensor. GPS tracker or Lo Jack. If you have all of these things, you have a 50% of keeping your vehicle from being stolen. Spend the money or depend on hope like Obama that it won’t happen
