Chris Thile, Sarah Jarosz, and Alex Hargreaves play "Jerusalem Ridge" and "Gold Rush" for Bill Monroe's birthday - September 13, 1911. Развлечения
I Like how the non bluegrass musicians seem to really be enjoying this, and Chris is playing Sarah's octave mandolin ,and letting her play his 1920's Lloyd Lore F5 love it.
I would like a Gibson Lloyd Lore, unfortunately I don't got 200 grand. At least he put some of that MacArthur Genius Award money to good use.
They are both just insanity-level mandolin players.
Wish live from here would come back. I miss Sarah Jarosz. And the Chris guy.
How much fun is this? A mentor and protege switching beloved instruments, tunes called out and played so sweet!! Alex is also spot on. I love how they pay homage to the genre's tradition here, yet I'm enthralled with the creativity these immensely talented players bring to the LFH stage on any given night. When Sarah Jarosz is part of the show, it's always special!!
This made me smile. In a world dominated by computer generated music this is a Blessing. Thank you.
You do know they are not playing acoustic instruments and therefore, who knows what the real Bill Monroe instrumentals would actually sound like in this venue.
I always love seeing (and hearing !) them listening to each other... Sarah especially. She is a great listener !
Sarah Jarosz, that is all!!!
Every one of these I've watched, I've loved watching the band's reactions. Especially the bass player, he always looks like he's just so enthralled and impressed by what's unfurling before him.
I would be happy to literally just watch Alex comp for an hour. God they're all so good
I love the look on the other band members faces. Like they're on the outside looking in. I love pickin' those tunes. Also got to see Chris, Bela and Casey Driessen play J Ridge as a seminar at Rocky Grass Academy some years ago. Will never forget it.
These people are just "other level" musicians! And who isn't madly in love with Sarah Jarosz!!?? :-)
Wonderful!
I now occasionally say in a jam, "That has words. DIS-qualified." Had I been there I would have hollered "Old Dangerfield". But Gold Rush was sweet.
The instrument and lick trading between the two mando masters was sublime (Sarah .oO "I'm playing a damn Lloyd Loar...") and Alex stayed with them every step.
The joy and admiration on the other musicians' faces was perfect.
that ignore on southern flavor lol thats a legit banger
Love Sarah Jarosz (and Alex is pretty darn good too)
Love Sarah's style!
Love it!
Dude, Sarah's tone sounds so amazing on Chris's mando- she is making that thing sing
Really!!! She is on fire!
This made my day...
Pure class
This guys stage talk makes me feel better about my own
Fantastic! Is there anything Sarah Jarosz can't do? She is so talented.
She can't sing or speak without a lisp OR speak with me face to face without being nervous as hell. You asked.
She's definitely a talented cutie, her and Sierra Hull are my favorite lady mandolinists.
@@jeffgaumond4250 Follow the design.
@@jeffgaumond4250 god both of them are so good, Sierra inspired me to play mando!
And.that ladies and gentlemen is called “blue grass”! We knew you’d like it!
I love the fact that the young 'uns can rattle off Bill Monroe tunes that were written more than 50 years ago.
That transition tho
Music starts at 1:50.
Grass Roots music 👑
I make the same band nerds face the bassist makes in this video when I watch Chris Thile play
Byrone Berline wrote Gold Rush!
How many times am I going to have to watch this before I stop finding another reason to be amazed? ! ? !
First: there was Sarah's mandolin jamming, she is a fantastic master jammer! Second: Chris rocking the old 6 string, wow he's great at that instrument too! Third: Alex wicked puts the pep into fiddle tunes! Finally: there's the simpatico between the three of them that is why i didn't see it all the first time, he he he
I totally forgot Chris's whole Big Mon' build up to the two fiddle tune tribute!! Happy Birthday to the Big Mon'!
He is just so knowledgeable, funny, passionate, & he REALLY loves his job.
Just FYI: Chris is playing Sarah's octave-mandolin (8 strings) which has been her 'signature instrument' since 2009.
@@guyfaulkes3035 OMG! Such a mistake I make! Watching one thing, missing another.
Plus, I get to watch it again !
So, they traded instruments. Sarah's group I'm With Her does a lot of that too.
Blue moon of kentucky!
I sure miss this show. The family hates it in comparison with ‘Prairie’, but I loved it for what Garrison said it was- a much more ‘musical’ show, by a musician more than a story teller. I thought it was a fine replacement.
Any way we can get it back, maybe a Live From Here tour?!?

cut out all the yakkin
This guy is a good singer and awesome player. He needs to stick with what he does well.
Both tunes Bill ripped off from his fiddle players no? Kenny Baker most often credited with J ridge - And Byron Burline for gold rush?
Is Sarah playing his Lloyd Loar here?
Yep!
Stidham Family gospel I’d be so terrified.
What is Chris playing?!? A mando guitar combo?
Guitar-bodied octave mandolin. So in essence, you’re exactly right!
Why is my Irish sessiun brain trying to figure out why "Jerusalem Ridge" sounds so familiar ??
Can anyone tell me what Irish tune this is associated with???🤔🤔
FOE THE LOVE OF GOD, SOMEBODY YELL OLD DAINGERFIELD
Great playing from exceptional 1 dimensional pickers. Try playing in 3 dimensions, Scruggs style.
Ok... but Kenny Baker wrote this.
How is there a "father of bluegrass". It was invented recently to one up the black delta banjos. Competition is better than war.
He meant to say “Monroe stole hundreds of bluegrass songs”.
The whole song and dance of taking the fiddle tune “request” is so hokey. As if they didnt already have those two tunes chosen ahead of time. Great playing, though.
