- In this video I show you how easy it can be to make your own RMT Rope or Rolling Rope - a fantastic training tool and definitely one to add to your arsenal.
You may have seen people rolling ropes from the likes of Octomoves or David Weck (WeckMethod). If you are a beginner or just curious to learning some moves I would highly recommend you making your own rope to start with. Later on you may justify paying $30+ for a "original". I personally would like to get one online to feel the difference in weight and quality but shipping to Saudi Arabia is never straight forward :P

Anyone from WeckMethod or Octomoves watching this and would like me to compare "legitness" of one of your own Ropes vs a DIY - don't be shy sending a few my way ;)
Wow Thanks. Much cheaper to do it yourself than buying one.

can you please give more details on the rope you used where you bought it from? what material is or made from? what is it’s reported thickness? did the company give it a name? if you bought it online a link would help with these details
thank you
It was from a random DIY store in Riyadh for $4. I just chose the thickest and heaviest rope they had available. Use it a lot and still in decent condition. I would suggest you also visit a local DIY store and see what you can find. All the best 👊🏽
@@TimLowPT thank you ☺️ I will do just that 😃
Nice video! Do you know if hemp or cotton would be heavy enough? Did you ever end up weighing the completed rope?
Thanks :) From top of mind hemp or cotton doesn’t sound like it would be heavy enough but I’ve never tried. Completed rope was just under 1kg.
What type of rope should I buy? Thanks for the video!
Depends what you have available, but the heavier the better in my opinion. Hope that’s useful and thanks for checking out the video :)
@@TimLowPTthanks!!
In my opinion, 12mm double braided nylon to start. It will weigh about 500g That looks like 16mm twisted nylon which will weigh 750g. Stay away from polypropylene rope. It's too light.
I’d like to know too
Youre in Saudi?! Which city? That backdrop gives me DQ vibes, haha 😄
I left Riyadh last year. Not quite DQ but yea this was my compound in Almalga 😆
@@TimLowPT oh sick 😁 which corner of the kingdom are you based around now?
@@iDigsGiantRobots left KSA completely. Based in the uk now
Where did you buy this rope and what type is it?
Just from a local DIY store in Riyadh - it was the thickest one I could find. I would suggest to look for a 12mm double braided nylon rope to start. Hope that helps.
Hello tim..Where do you buy ropes what kind?
I got this rope from a local DIY store - it was the thickest one I could find :)
What kind of rope is that and what size is the thickness?
Hi Marsha, it was was the thickest rope I could find at a local DIY store. Super cheap material but does the job and still lasting to now. About 1.5cm diameter or so. Hope that helps.
@@TimLowPT Thanks so much for replying. I'll have to go make a trek to the hardware store and see what they have. What type of material do you suggest though?
@@nunyabiz-i6k Would suggest a Braided Polyester Rope at 12 or 14mm diameter
So if I am 6 ft how long should I order I was thinking 10 feet i don't want to order a bunch right now just to make one
Depends how long your legs are 😅 but yea 10ft sounds about right mate
@@TimLowPT sounds good I was thinking now just go with 12 to make sure thanks for the reply
@@a234633 Nice 👌🏼
What’s the size of the rope? 1inch?
Yes, the diameter is about 1 inch and the girth is 2 inches.
