This dude just knows the formula. He hits it all the time.
Most of my friends dont care for his music. I'm pretty dumbstruck by their poor taste.
he knows the formula and break it.
Well Stated
Not so much a formula I think as feeling music in every inch of his body and being an amazing creative artist :) but get where you're coming from though
He is the formula
so basically kevin produced 3 different versions of this song, king of reinventing himself
Definitely he does it.
Kesi Nweze there’s this one (with non official lyrics) and two more
You say that like it's a bad thing.
Stupid Penguin Sounds I literally wrote “king of reinventing himself”
Make that 4 if you listen his one on Fallon 😅
Imagine if this man became an engineer, which is what he went to school for. The world would’ve been so deprived of a talent
Maybe that's his edge, they always sound perfect!
Imagine the talent we don't know of now because of that :/
There could be a person who's even better, but became an engineer
@
,
"Once again, Tame Impala" -- This is what I kept saying in my mind as I replayed this 10000x times
Ditto. I'm so glad I caught them on SNL.
Aditya Joshi omg saaaaaame
Something about Kevins voice is just hypnotic and psychedelic.
If not psychedelically hypnotic!
It feels like someone put something in my drink when I wasn't looking. ... Fuck!! And I couldn't get away. I'm a KP zealot!
he's a great singer 💚
it's a recording
@@drewbocop lmao you wish
"once again"
Even the presenter knows I've came back to this vid over and over again...
🗣️
Nice comment bruw
@@ardabertan680 hahahahah thank you, bro! XD
Same here im fucking obsessed with this song
it should have said "once again" on both videos because I'm going back and forth
3 different lyrics are confusing my brain !
Hahaha
me too haha
I fucking know right
3 farklı lirik derken anlamadım
Okay I thought I was losing my mind
A fucking masterpiece. How does he always makes it sound original and familiar at the same time? Love at first listen
"original and familiar" totally
Terrantulla:-:SAME !
It instantly becomes your favourite song ever!!
Denise Paulsen: : :Rather funny how a group you never heard of before, than that you fall for the moment you discover them, certainly does THAT very thing!!!!!!!!
@@darktrooper2099 Yeah I'm totally obsessed with KP. It's worrisome. Like a train. :) ... and I'm 62-yrs old next b'day. My twin sons they're 22- and they're like "What. Never heard of them." ... I've been listening for a few years now. I'm so groovy. Iol
This crowd is soooooo fuckin lucky. I would have killed to be there that night. Patiently waiting for this beautiful album to drop!
Patiently is the right adverb!
Most of them wouldn't even appreciate them
Amen
Vanlalduhsaka Hmar EXACTLY my dude
Vanlalduhsaka Hmar wrong. i was there. the majority of the crowd was there for tame impala.
The sort of call and response he is doing where he switches from singing high to low tones back and forth fits the melody of this song so well. Absolutely beautiful
Neilan Smith not for nothing, it’s REALLY hard to do that vocally and here he is just knocking it out and flitting his hair like it’s nothing
@@drewjohnson9459 It's why I pointed it out! Insane talent. Those vocals aren't the easiest either
That’s what struck me about this performance. That doesn’t look easy at all.
Totally agree Neilan, just fantastic.
Neilan Smith makes you wonder if there’s a backing vocal track...
Has anyone noticed that this version is different than the studio version? Like completely different lyrics.
I actually prefer this version :O
New song, first time playing, lots of lyrics; he's still getting in the groove of these tunes.
Harrison Bamman glad I was t the only one. Studio version he says “gone a little far, gone a little far this time...” and this version I couldn’t make out the opening lyrics. Sounds like he’s saying come inside or let’s go inside to fight. Idk
naw it's just unclear what he's saying. I didn't understand 90% of this performance but it still sounded sick lol
edit a year later: i was tripping they are different lyrics from the single version which itself has different lyrics to the album version
I think he said “gonna need your love” or something
He went from this version, to the single version, to the Slow Rush version. This is a prime example of Kevin’s feelings of self doubt and attention to detail that he sings about in his music. What version do you guys prefer? I think the single version sounds the most authentic.
ian braman this version will always be my favorite for some reason.
single version >>>>>>>>> everything else
He recently did a podcast where he said when he did this performance he hadn’t finished writing the song yet so was just mumbling lyrics because he hadn’t written any yet 😂
DUDE im doing a presentation on this song and this is totally a good point to bring up thanks man
This is the version that turned me on to his music
I remember Kevin saying in an interview that he'll never debut a song live as the live recording of a new track wouldn't be up to his standards. And now this happened.
Yes he is changing after all.....
dheeraj bhatt Cos hes a man, doesnt think before he does
Yeah people change, eventually
nothing that has happenned so far has been anything he could control
Wow y'all. 💀💀💀💀
Maybe it was up to his standards so he "let it happen" :P
it's summer 2019, i'm sipping ice tea, reading a book in my garden, this song is playing on my speaker and everything is fine just for a moment
The perfect setting!
Bro we still in spring
Kanye East I meant that as me in the future, in a few months time, listening to the song. It’s a setting of what I’ll be doing this summer
@@marydarko3380 will we even be here for the summer?

How does he switch so quickly singing from high to low...is he a magician.....
NO, BUT HE IS DEFINITELY A REAL MUSICIAN
He hits the register key
Octave and easy interval leaping.
Head voice ??
He listened to a lot of Supertramp.
1:57 that bass is just so good

I always come back to this version. So freaking good. And look at him. He is so beautiful.
Same omg
He's mine and mine only stay away
The good match of vintage and modern. Perfect.
EXACTLY !!!!!! This brought me right back to the 70s the minute my granddaughter played this in my car 2 days ago. This sounds great live.
This is actually quite incredible. Even the way he sings the song. Goes in certain rythmic way. Huge admiration for this man.
he's a very talented fellow, that's true 💚
That call-and-return is truly something else...
Absolute madness, he’s a genius
no one:
tame impala: *gives everyone an eargasm*
I want someone to clone Kevin Parker so he can play every instrument live
but leave Jay there
Same thought
Cam has sex appeal, but little else. I hear he gets women so pissed off they give him shiners. True story, straight from the horse's mouth
Well someone did:D (why won’t they talk to me? 2020)
You'd have to do it on Dave Grohl first.
ok this track is justification enough to buy the album.
yeah holy shit this is good
@@jacpod2046 Yeah I rarely hit repeat on tracks anymore but i've listened to this at least 10 times. Might just be because i'm buzzed and a lil high but this sound design is fucking amazing !
How? It’s awful
Meh, as far as Tame Impala goes, this is pretty bad...

rosierose77 makes my panties wet. lol
Okay wicked witch
He is so consistent and hasn't produced one bad song. Everyone there did such a good job, it's rare to hear that live and the quality is great.
Haunter Moyer, Borderline is a bad song though. And Patience is mediocre at best.
Canyons sunrise reprise and 41 mojitos poolside dub are the only ones I can think of.
Just call this new album "Supertame - Breakfast in Australia" and drop it already pls
Ha! And Breakfast in America is actually one of his all-time favorite albums...
Chiara Fattore Exactly 😂 just perfect.
Superlame yeah.
Based
i like it
Anyone think it's even more genius of this man that he's basically changed the lyrics for the live performance?
i was wondering that? is it just that its an early version maybe?
@@JGtheotherdude think so, seems like it wasn't completely finished at the time or something
@@codygoldsbrough5360 which makes that a very lucky audience !
I think it is normal. I do the same thing, changing lyrics between shows, sometimes hours before the show.
Hardly. He's a last minute Lucy when it comes to lyrics. I actually love that, because it makes him unusual and his live performances unusual.
me realizing his voice doesn't need autotune:
👁💧👄💧👁
Shouldn't that be the default?
There is definitely production on his voice in their performances, but that doesn't mean he can't sing, he uses it more for an effect. It's the sound he goes for and it's become a staple of his music, and sounds undeniably great.
Exactly, I’ll see people comment “he’s so good he doesn’t even need auto tune” about different musicians. It makes me wonder what kind of garbage “musicians” they listen to that need auto tune.
@@erichwashausen4602 the listeners deserve better
Erich Washausen i dont think you should think of auto tune as something which is bad, there are alot of musicians that use auto
tune more like an instrument or effect and even if they just use it to improve their voice it isnt always bad
Beautifully done. If this sounds good, imagine the studio version 🤯
It will sound identical 😛
The exact same because they're playing tracks.
It will sound better for sure
@@MAK4you i dont think so lol

LYRICS:
Calling in your love
Calling in your love
It's time for something
I was in for long
I was in for long at night for something
We're on the borderline
On the borrowed time, we've wasted one day
Possibly a sign
I'm gonna have a strangest night on Sunday
There I go
Quite a show for a loner in LA
Asking how I managed to end up in this place
And I couldn't get away
On the borderline
Right between the tides of pain and rapture
Then I saw the time, watched it speeding by
like a train
Like a train
Will I be known and loved?
Is there one that I trust?
Starting to sober up
Has it been long enough?
Will I be known and loved?
Close enough, close enough
I'm a loser, loosen up
Set it free, must be tough
Will I be known and loved?
Is there one that I trust?
If there's room, room for doubt
As within, as without
Will I be known and loved?
Gettin' closer, it's close enough
Shout out to what is done
RIP, here comes the sun
Calling in your love
Calling in your love
Inside for something
Can we go outside?
Need to vitalize and wait for something
Do you see the light?
Do you wonder why they ain't responding?
As we go inside, oh
As we go inside, oh, no
And I couldn't get away
We're on the borderline
Gets me every time
These close encounters
Just to know I can
Once again I am alone
Will I be known and loved?

I have to admit this has grown on me tremendously
They have such a dynamic catalogue now. His openness to create songs across several genres will make for even better live shows.
Neon Xylofon this is like one of the most important things most people fail to notice
I’ve never seen anyone sing like this. Alternating between voices was fire.

This is the version that made me fall in love with his music.
Kevin is a bonafide genius 😀😀😀😀 tame Impala might be the greatest band of this generation
dumbbell door steady on now, he’s no genius
Absolue genius
John what are you basing that on? If you look at all of the people in the music world who are considered geniuses Kevin Parker will never ever be mentioned. I’m a big Tame Impala fan but at least I have some self awareness
@@samjohnstone1866 so who are the people who are considered geniuses in music
dumbbell door I think it depends how commercial you want to be and what genres we’re considering. If we take a group of a few genres you’ll often see names such as Frank Zappa, Miles David, John Coltrane, Brian Wilson, Phil Spector, Todd Rundgren, Andy Partridge and many many more. My issue with Tame Impala being considered genius is geniuses break boundaries and push the limit of music to change the landscape that once existed (I know that’s really pretentious but it’s true), Tame Impala have some enjoyable records some decent production but I don’t think that they have changed the course of psychedelic music and these two new singles are very bland disco-pop-rock efforts that I’m really surprised has excited fans because as a fan I see a step backwards, not forwards.
So it's been revealed he sang gibberish for some of this because he hadn't worked out the lyrics yet. Literally the first few lines had me cackling. People claim it's "calling on your love" but personally, I think had no clue what he was saying right there lmao. Also "Need to finalize (find the lies?) or wait (wave?) or something" at 2:38. Just heard this today, about 10 times at least, and it's already one my fave songs ever of theirs.
seems like they're following the direction started with Currents - a more dancy/pop-ish style. Not necessarily a bad thing, you can still hear the very distinctive Tame Impala sound but maybe hard to process for those that have been following them since the very beginning. Just waiting for the full album to be released at this point.
yes very strange for me to hear this.
Yea i honestly like whichever direction Kevin decides to take his music. He has always been a fan of Supertramp and you can def hear it in this song. Love it!!
No, ... psychedelics
Feels like he is challenging himself to do something different every album. With Currents things got more synth based indie wave and with this he has continued on that basis but upped the tempo with congas and probably was curious to see how his music sounds without his safe go-to instrument, the guitar
Nathan Piper I feel this & patience both lack that Tame Impala punch we get from all his best songs. I still really enjoy both songs but I feel it's a bit more passive listening
I heard this when it was live on snl and I didn’t really realize how much it’s changed since then until listening to the live again.
