  • I do think Venom Snake is real but I have my serious doubts about Ishmael. More so, I don't think we are being told the entire truth about Mgs5 story, hence the George Orwell 1984 messages all over place.
Another side video for fun, next sprite battle will involve a DBZ character. :)

The biblical name Ishmael also represents someone of low standing that who will rise up a great nation. The medic was of low standing, he raised a nation of the diamond dogs.

i like PythonSelkan's video where he says that Ground Zeroes was a training simulation for Venom to adapt to becoming 'Big Boss', and Phantom Pain was him experiencing a flashback of his life as he lay dying at the end of Metal Gear 1, which explains why he saw all these weird hallucinations (and the X-ray where he's riddled with bullets, not shrapnel), because it was a glitch in his memory of his real experiences (as Venom during the real life Phantom Pain events e.g. Venom fighting Skull Face and building Outer Haven) mixing with Big Boss's actual memories of the past (e.g. Volgin now a firey man on the fire horse). just like how when Venom sees Paz, she was just a phantom but Miller and Ocelot played along like she was actually there. anytime Paz's phantom saw conflicting information she would block it out, well Venom did the same thing (just like us the player did initially) by blocking out information that didn't fit with us playing as the real Big Boss (like this video explains).
so we were tricked into thinking
    1. that we were playing as Big Boss both in GZ and PP (first playthrough)
    2. that we were playing as Big Boss in GZ but Venom snake the whole time in PP (plot twist reveal at the end)
    3. then finally both events/games were just simulations that Venom experienced due to the brainwashing and were hallucinations of his past experiences as Venom glitching with Big Boss implanted memories

Only way for this to make sense is if we consider Ishmael and the medic as the same person that still lives on as venom Snake’s subconscious that’s “looking out for him” the same way he imagined Paz was still alive. In the tape that Big Boss reveals to the medic about him being his phantom, Big Boss never states that he was with him in the hospital. What if the medic just imagined Big Boss being there for reassurance, to make him self think that the Big boss actually cares for him and was taking care of him the whole time he was on a coma and isn’t just using him. They could of used his old self through out the game as a way to slowly but surely remember his past life. It’s also important to note that even if venom snake remembers his original life, that wouldn’t necessarily mean that he would be his “normal self” once again, his very being and consciousness could be a combination of both Snakes and the medics mentality making a brand new person in his own right. We never really played as the medic we just used his body, the medic in a way died the moment he fell in a coma (lives on as Ishmael in venom snakes subconscious) and we as the player in a way spawn in on the game in the medic’a body with no consciousness lol that’s kinda artistic almost made me shed a tear seeing Kojimas intent because that would mean that we never really played as Venom snake either but that Venom snake is literally us. 😢.

that really makes a lot of sense, it fits wiht BB persona, if the medic was supposed to be a fake snake to protect the real snake, then BB wouldn't be the one in charge to protect him, cus hes risking his life, and the point of venom snake is to get BB out of danger, plus it makes BB fit more the one we meet in the mgs 2 first games, no clear morals, and using soldiers to his advantage

Ocelot set up the attack on Mother Base in 1975. Skullface had no need or motive to attack Mother Base, nor was he likely present at the attack. Ocelot however, in his lifelong quest to fulfil his mother’s will, had motive to remove the now directionless Big Boss.
At the end of Peace Walker we see Big Boss abandon his own interpretation of the Boss’s will. He no longer believed in the Boss. The hero of GroznyjGrad was gone and instead there was just a mercenary with no direction in his place. Ocelot couldn’t of liked that his idol and the man who was to carry his mother’s legacy had suddenly let it all go. We know both Zero and Sigint were involved in Peace Walker, we don’t know how Ocelot was involved, or even if he was involved. But we do know Ocelot had a long history of secret units (like his own unit in Snake Eater) and we know XOF is a secretive arm of the Patriots and formally part of FOX. We also know they, and Skullface, were not present in Costa Rica. It is my belief that Skullface was enacting his plan to take out Zero during this time and that Ocelot is the one who informed him about Paz (who played a role Ocelot would usually play) and that she knew where Zero was. Ocelot would even promise to deliver Paz and, by extension, Zero to Skullface. For a price.
Big Boss needed to lose MSF, he needed to regain purpose and he needed to become the legendary Naked Snake again, as opposed to some vagabond gun for hire. Ocelot approached Huey, acting as an inspection agency. This ensured he could keep Big Boss off of the base during the attack. Things got out of hand when Big Boss arrived back at base though, ending with the crash that wasn’t supposed to transpire. Skullface wasn’t supposed to try and kill Big Boss via Paz either. Neither of these events factored into Ocelot’s plan.
Ocelot needed Miller out of the picture, however after the botched destruction of Mother Base he couldn’t just have him killed because he would still hold use in the future. That’s why they were separated at the hospital. Ocelot had a golden opportunity to reshape John into the man he should have been. Having Miller around could have ruined the process. Through tapes, hypnotic suggestion, prolonged exposure to ideas in a controlled environment and through Ocelot’s usual methods of drugging and electrotherapy he breaks Big Boss down to the basics, to a canvas he can reshape into the legend he believes Big Boss should be. He kills off the identity of “John” by creating the narrative that he is a separate person.
Miller would be a problem here because he would remind Big Boss of their dream. He could deconstruct Ocelot’s brainwashing of Big Boss. So Ocelot has Miller captured and tortures him severely. We know from MGS and MGS2 that Ocelot was a notorious torturer within the Soviet forces in Afghanistan in the 80s. We know that’s where he got the handle “Shalashaska” and we know he was notorious in the region. We also know the Soviets, with the assistance of the Skulls (a Cipher unit) captured Miller, put a bag over his head, limited his vision with sensual deprivation and then he was tortured for no clear reason. His arm and leg were removed, he was likely reminded constantly about the people who died, who he let down. Ocelot needed to break Miller, to turn him insane. Miller would serve as motivation for the newly revamped Big Boss and would also be key in helping drum up troops to follow the legend once more. Money no longer mattered, revenge did. Miller was so broken and vengeful that he had no inclination to look at what was going on. He never even questioned what Ocelot was doing on Mother Base or how he had gained so much influence over operations there. He didn’t question why Ocelot’s KGB unit were on the base with them.
Ocelot, for his part, did not want to trigger Big Boss’s memory either. So he behaved completely out of character. He acted like a subordinate to a man he basically had to spoon feed. He spent very little time with the rest of Mother Base’s management team, he took it upon himself to DNA test Eli despite MB having a state of the art medical wing. Ocelot couldn’t risk having “Venom” realise he was the real Big Boss because it would possibly trigger a return to his 1975 outlook.
Ocelot is only ever seen behaving like himself away from Big Boss. In front of him he’s this yes man with little personality. He still held Big Boss’s hand and led him down certain paths. The head trauma Big Boss suffered left him in an already damaged and incoherent state so it wasn’t hard for Ocelot to take control from the background.
For the lie to be complete Ocelot decides to trigger Big Boss’s belief he isn’t the original. After the breakdown over Paz it became clear to Ocelot that he needed to advance the illusion to cement the idea. As far as ‘Venom’ and Miller needed to know, the man who gave up on the Boss was gone, he was off somewhere starting some fruitless adventure as a complete nobody. But he’d left a message for ‘Venom’. “You’re Big Boss, he is the both of us together”. He was no longer Big Boss, rather, Big Boss was no longer John. Big Boss was a story that would unite the world. The way Ocelot believed his mother had wanted. An icon to unify under that didn’t have a nation, a religion, an economic or sociological model. A man who would fight for what he believed in whilst risking his life for others. Not some money driven war criminal, but a hero. Not an enemy of the times like the Big Boss of 1975, but an icon of the times, like the Big Boss who stopped Nuclear annihilation time and again in the 60s and early 70s. Ocelot could never be the man to carry out his mother’s will in the public eye, he was too far gone by the time he understood. But Big Boss could be that person.
We know there was no limit to how far Ocelot would go to see the Boss’s vision realised. Between him and Solid Snake it finally was. Big Boss at the end of everything had regained himself, and probably held onto a bit of his mental doppelganger too. As he made peace with his clone at the end of his life he realised why Ocelot had acted the way he did, and how when his Venom Snake plan fell through Ocelot had decided to put himself through the same ordeal. Venom Snake was likely doing the driving himself until he got a bullet to his shrapnel and disoriented him enough to crash the car. Think of it like the movie Fight Club.
Probably will when I am bored and when I think of anything else that stands out to me.

Ishmael/Big Boss not fighting normal against Quiet is not that far fetched. Kojima has done this before. He likes to strip away the legend of his characters and humanize them by making them struggle in the eyes of another perspective.
Remember Vamp making quick work of Solid Snake in MGS2?? Who at the time was also using a disguise to hide his identity. A guy who in the game prior (which took place only 4 years before) was doing Olympic style acrobatic flips to dodge missiles from a tank and beating a CYBORG NINJA in a bare knuckle fist fight....allows Vamp to not only get the drop on him and disarm him..but just sits there on his knees as Vamp lifts him up with one hand like he's a weakling. But in the end...Plisken is still revealed to be Snake. He just got caught slipping , same as Big Boss.

There is only one big boss venom is a hallucination
Ocelot really did carry out the Boss’s will, at the sacrifice of his own name, image, legacy and life. Just like his mother before him.

So I just played the definitive edition and as those of you who've played that version, the cutscenes have different camera angles than the original game. You get to see more frontal face shots of both Ismael and Ahab. You can clearly see by pausing that Ishmael has two regular eyes, and Ahab has on good eye and the other is hazy or could be fake. That's why I looked for these videos, because after all these years and all the diff theories, I think Ahab may indeed be Big Boss himself. It could be that the medic is Ismael and Ahab is big boss and that he double tricked himself in order to stay alive. But maybe Ismael is just imaginary.

I mean Hideo Kojima wearing the bandages didn't look like Hideo Kojima but it was still Kojima
And few have said Ishmael didn't want Ahab to know he was Big Boss so his CqC went sloppy on Purpose
And the the possibility Ishmael is wearing a mask as if it's MGS3: Snake Eater
And where Snake at the end of Solid V goes to after he punches the mirror and puts "Operation Intrude N313" into the tape recorder which Kojima after V wanted to be the Fake Big Boss known as Venom Snake
But I'll take some deep look into this
"Hmm So maybe the Big Boss we see in Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots isn't Naked Snake but the Medic?"
"So the real Big Boss died during Gear 1987?"
"AND WASN'T BURNED TO DEATH IN GEAR 2: SOLID SNAKE AND IS SEEN Burnt FOR THE FACE CAMO IN 4?"
"So we met THE MEDIC AND NOT BIG BOSS"
Fooled by the Patriots once again...
But I'll look into everything before I assume the truth
Because I know what I'm seeing here is a valid agreement but completely false to Kojima and not just a reused face model from DAY 1 EDITION because there was no point of remaking a face if your just gonna add the same mission in
"Everything is just a simulation and imagination"
I don't think Kojima and Konami would make the story plot that simple
Sure it's a video game but still
Maybe Venom isn't our high ranking MSF from PO and PW
Maybe Ishmael was Big Boss all along and the medic was Venom
The talk that GZ is a simulation for Venom Snake might actually just we be miss-interpretation to the 4th wall
Meaning Ground Zeroes was made for us to be ready for V due to the change in mechanics and functions
(I just confused my self as a nerdy metal gear player, thank you video)

The medic wasn't a "regular man" either. He was on of big bosses best soldiers who had been train by him at mother base that is why venom could fight they way big boss and not to mention the memories ocelot gave him probably helped. So even if Ishmael was the medic he would of been far more messed up because he had took most of explosion by shielding big boss from explosion and he would fight similarly to big boss. Big boss has both his eyes he is just blind in one eye. Plus how could big boss be killed by solid snake in metal gear solid like venom was and then come back in multiple games except when he was regenerated ofcourse in mgs4. After being killed in mgs how could he regrow his arm and have metal plate removed that would kill him if it was removed. it is because the big boss snake killed mgs was venom snake not big boss amd snake kills the real big boss in metal gear 2. Then he is resurrected by solid snakes mom I think he name is eva. I can't remember for some reason. Then the real big boss dies after telling solid snake to live the rest of his days in peace. He has both his arms and no metal plate in his head. Ishmael is big boss. No of you explanations hold in merit amd can easily be debunked.

Pick one, you can't regain peak performance after such traumatic injuries.
      >Big boss has both his eyes he is just blind in one eye.
Yes, and his eye is fucked up, dude got his iris burned, it wouldn't look like his other eye.
      >Ishmael is big boss.
Okay, let's say assume that all the info above was 100% correct (it wasn't), even then nothing that you said above points towards that Ishmael is Big Boss, it's a false dichotomy, there isn't just 'A is Big Boss and B is the medic vs B is Big Boss and A is the medic', for all we know Venom isn't Big Boss. Just because Venom isn't Big Boss you shouldn't fall for the obvious red herring bait set up by the story writers, aka that mysterious guy with the face bandaged. Also, unreliable narrator, look it up.

I finally beat Mgs5 after 5 years of trying to get into it but never liking it. This ending bothers me a lot. My theory is along the lines of yours and how ishmael didn't exist, however to me ishmael was just a manifestation of snake trying to remember how to fight, it's his own will to live showing him the way to safety and how to get out of this situation. In reality, when ahab sees snake in a coma and ahab is on the bed farther away, that was snake having an out of body experience due to being in a coma, and when quiet is being fought off by ishmael, that's the drugs they were giving snake to treat him, he hallucinating another patient fighting off quiet, when in actuality he was the one doing it. Also I just hate that ending so even if this is far fetched I'm saying it's Canon because the game literally only gets better when you remove this joke ending from the game

He can not use CQC & In the hallway of the hospital he clearly gets gunned down too. Big Boss due to his PTSD noe clearly has split personality disorder too and we know he has hallucinations due to the dream in MGS3. Venom Snake IS Big Boss just his alter ego cause of the split personality disorder. So Venom Snake IS Big Boss no doubt to me

@@Vegito1089 There is only one big boss venom is a hallucination
Ocelot really did carry out the Boss’s will, at the sacrifice of his own name, image, legacy and life. Just like his mother before him.

But Big Boss in MGS 4 **doesn’t** have a mechanical arm OR even shrapnels in his head.

Everything is planned, venom is meant to be the new big boss and that time when the ambulance turned over, venom passed out and so ishmael who is the real big boss, took his chance, met ocelot and said goodbye, then ocelot saved venom. And also the real big boss didnt have damages in the face because venom(which is the former medic) covered him, which left the real big boss believe that medic is actually his most loyal men so he chose him to be the next big boss

No no no no the real big boss has one eye and more skilled in hand to hand combat if Ishmael was big boss he wouldn't have two eyes and he wouldn't be struggling to defeat quiet so therefore Ishmael is the medic

Ishmael, to me, is big boss. the psycho therapy done to the medic made him believe Ishmael to look like the medic and made the medic believe himself to look like and be big boss. Big boss fought weird w quiet because he too was in a coma. He was more skilled than the medic so he was able to move around before the medic. As for the knife...it’s metal gear, venom was popping dislocated bones back into place and was able to walk on them seconds after. Ishmael patched up the wound. The only weird thing was the timing...which could just be done by Kojima to spark more conversation...which worked

No the real big boss has one eye how could Ishmael be big boss while he has two eyes so hes definitely the medic

Two people in a coma for the exact same length? I’m not gonna do the math but you must know how improbable that is
