To bad we have to see the guy helmet all the time.. show us the road u riding to .. i don`t want to see you, i want to see the road in front of u when u ride.
I have no problems with the 19" wheel, but this is my 3rd bike with a 19-inch front tire. Plus it is a radial dual compound Michelin I trust it and push it. This is a great bike
I’m very happy to have stumbled across this. You sir seem very knowledgeable making this video a pleasure to listen to. In all honesty, yes, the camera work and mic could have been much better. But I really enjoy learning from intelligent and passionate people. Thank you!
Very nice review! and a pretty road to ride as well... If I may add something regarding the behavior of the front 19" wheel, the Bridgestone BW-501, that’s fitted to the bike it’s kind of "heavy" in the turns. I'm guessing that with Scorpion Trail (Pirelli) it would be much swifter... (I've tried both tires and in different adv-bikes with 19" wheels, so I'm talking by experience).
Man I can really appreciate the quality of this video for being shot in 2014! So we know the 19" presents some physical limitations but can some of the gripes be fixed with a more sporty tire combination?
I wish I could have got the 17 inch front wheels and the 180 tire on the rear, but after getting the bike I kind of like the way the smaller tires dive faster in the turns, not really gonna go knee down on them, but fun so far.
RIP Honda Suzuki Salt Lake. I bought a 2014 Honda CB500F from them. They treated me well, and were honest in everything. Even their service department went above and beyond with a recall and some warranty work.
This bike is BASICALLY a supermoto on steroids lol I own a VTR1000F FIRESTORM but I am looking for a off road biking experience(smooth suspension and an upright riding posture) is the Honda XL1000V Varadero any better? ThE aAfrica twin has been anounced and i would love to test ride it before I buy!:)
CanyonChasers Motorcycle Adventure, Sport and Touring makes sense. This may be a stoopid question, but can mufflers be submerged in water while crossing creeeks?
I am thinking of getting the Honda Africa Twin (AF), The Suzuki V-Strom, or the Yamaha Super Tenere. I might make a video on the search. Anyway, you mention the "bigger for you" V-Strom 19 inch front tire size as a limitation on the road. Other have said the V-Strom's front tire to be serious off road needs to be 21 inches (like Honda's AF). Hence the reason for the 19 inch V-Strom tire (& Super Tenere's19 inch front tire), it's an adventure bike's compromise. I also heard in caparison to other Adventure bikes, not sport bikes, the Suzuki V-Strom is pretty good *in the turns/corners.*
sweetcostarica it's really hard to chose.. all are great adv bikes;you will be somewhere between your heart and your brain..its personal factor...test drive them first.. for me I will go for Suzie XT 650..or 1000.. I'm still owner of first generation V2 ..
I actually had a BMW F650 GS (19 inch front tire) & a BMW F650 Dakar version (21 inch front tire). For my use which was mainly street with weekend short gravel roads both bikes did well. So this makes me lean toward the Suzuki V-Strom and the Yamaha Super Tenere with their compromise using 19 inch front tire. I have enough money to get either bike. It will probably come down to the best deal the Dealer gives. Thanks for you comment.
No dirt? C'mon, at least give it try… Otherwise agree… great bike, especially for the dollar. Suzuki may not have the flashiest bike in the class with the new DL1000, but it's towards the top of my buy list all the same.
We did a little bit of dirt, but the video didn't turn out. Waaaaaaay too shakey. :) The bike performed on the dirt as we'd expected quite well, but the suspension seemed a bit stiff because it seems like this second Gen V-Strom really wants to be a superbike with long-travel suspension and a comfortable seating position (Multistrada 1200). Which is why we felt the wheels didn't quite match the rest of the bike. :)
suzuki makes a replacement seat that lowers height by about 1". i couldn't quite flat with the regular seat but with the low seat i can, I'm a 30" inseam.
You're welcome, its kind of tall by numbers but its alot narrower than most bikes so you aren't bowleegged. They did that so you can stand up easier stopped or stand on the pegs for technical riding
It's the same 90-degree, hybrid chain/gear driven cam system using the same basic engine architecture from the 1997 TL1000S. Little tweaks and improvements do not make it an entirely new motor. It's no different than the Pantah based V-Twin Ducati has been using for decades. Yes, there have been lots of changes and improvements along the way, but its the same basic motor.
One of the best honest reviews on the V-storm I've seen...

I'm 6'1" and love riding with my girlfriend on the back. Looking forward to doing some long-ish road trips on a bike.... THIS one may be our ticket!

Pretty good review.
Pleasant to watch.
Not irritating at all like so many of these reviews are.
Excellent review, spot on.

Good review and amazing roads and scenery too

Excelente video. mi proxima moto! Que referencia de casco usas en el video?

That's right, back in 14' we used 480i and dial up .

You forgot the SV 1000 that I just sold to get my V-Strom, great motor. Feels way better in the V-Strom for some reason. But love the bike so far :-).
Solid review, thanks

Yep. We bought quite a few bikes from them. They were a great shop and we were sad when they closed shop.
Great video! one question though did you do a voice over after you made the video?
Nice review.
But the shaking sound and picture from the camera make me a headache: )

BY 2017 the spokes wheel issue has been solved!
Nice review that.
Great review, minus the AWFUL camera shaking. Got sick trying to watch, ended up just listening in the background.
Time to update this video Dave.
I'd love to. Getting bikes to Demo doesn't come along as often as I'd like.
@@CanyonChasers Totally understand. Love your videos!
Great review! The most thorough I've seen yet. Would you prefer the mufflers up high the way they (both) used to be?
Mufflers up have pro's and cons. The biggest pro is access to the rear wheel. The biggest con is the heat and your end up smelling like exhaust.

good review

Bruce Steever Completely agree. :) But spokes (or 17s) would be a nice option to help focus the bike, like whats coming on the new 650.
what helmet are you wearing?
+Legendary Life Arai RXQ DNA
I may have missed it, how tall is the rider? It'd be great to get inseam, saddle height, able to flatfoot, etc for the vertically challenged folks!
+Shmoo All the info in one place, in regards to what you're asking about ? Best, yl
suzuki makes a replacement seat that lowers height by about 1". i couldn't quite flat with the regular seat but with the low seat i can, I'm a 30" inseam.
+Ruike Thanks man, I have a 29" inseam. I actually went and sat on one a few months ago. Smaller than expected, I could definitely ride one.

I think I am 31" inseam, can easily flat foot both legs.
Caponord for fun!
Great Video man!..don't ever, for a second, let this other losers tell you what to film or not...they choose their bikes so why worry right?
Not the same motor sir. My SV1000 and your TLR are different in several ways from this bike.
Yeah, I was wondering, where he came up with that statement !

"90 torques?" I know what you're trying to say, but come on man, really?
I'm sorry, but I had to stop watching due to the windshield chatter on the camera mic.
