  • HUGE NEWS. T-Mobile just release a new gateway with a KEY feature, external antenna ports for easy install. This is the Arcadyan TMOG4AR gateway with a MediaTek T750 modem chipset. It supports numerous 5G and 4G bands including Carrier Aggregation for the potential for huge speeds. Lets compare it to the Sagemcom 5688W, KVD21 and Nokia 5G21 gateway that T-mobile offers. Note customers typically don't have a say in which gateway they recieve, all 4 are currently being sent to customers. Consider subscribing to the channel or looking below for more content!

      @0my it was 3 bars on b12 and my point is 3 bars does not tell if you have good band or good speed. 2 bars of a good band can easily beat 5 bars of a bad one for example.

      Also trying to set up a new line to get the Gateway has proven to not work. Apparently the only way to actually guarantee the new Gateway is to go to the store. The problem, none of the stores around me have it yet! 🤷🤦

      @@Bryan-Hensley I have terrible Topography and need a cell booster for my situation. Another problem I have with my Nokia, is that even with the cell booster, it won't pick up 5G when my Phone, that is also T-Mobile is in the same room as the Home Internet and both almost right under the inside antenna. I definitely believe this new gateway would solve that with being able to have an antenna easily hooked up to it rather than just the booted signal.

    Nate you saved my knees bruising from begging for the new gateway! I've called with no success. I still have the original Nokia for the last 2 1/2 years and wanted to try the new unit because of its antenna hookups and more bands. My speeds hover around 200 download and 20 upload but for some reason the reception gets terrible and every week or two i have to reboot the unit and then i'm good to go. I have the fan on top, wifi turned off and use my own TP Link router. I'm coming to the conclusion that the Chester unit is the way to go . One question, with all the TMobile units, how do you use the same TMobile app to check specs or even install a new gateway. Do you delete the app snd start from scratch each time?
    Many thanks

So i went from paying $40 to $25 with optimum.

    Hi Nate. Another great video. I have a question about the latency and the packet loss. My 5G tower is about 150 yards away, and I easily get 500 mbps down / 50 Mbps up, and during certain times I can get close to 700 Mbps down and over 150 Mbps up. However, my latency is never below 53 ms, and quite often I get a pretty high packet drop rate, even though sometimes I get 0% packet drop. So, for me it's not uncommon to get between 10% and 20% packet drop. This is on T-Mobile Small Business connection with a static IP, while being hard-wired to the 5G modem (via my own router). Do you have any thoughts on why my latency is always so high and why I get a high error rate, while having very good download and upload speeds? I can bandwidth lock in my 5G modem.

Do you have any experience with something like this? The MR60 worked fine with my existing Starlink router. I decided to try out T-M due to the big price difference going forward. Starlink already did a price increase and it seems like future hikes are coming. I have no access to cable so wireless is my only option at the moment. Thx for any thoughts on this. Sorry, I know this is a bit off-topic, but I'm going to be receiving my new Tmobile gateway tomorrow, and have a question about hooking up my cable. I currently have a Netgear Router connected via ethernet to an Arris modem, and a coaxial cable from the wall connected into the Arris. (This house is super-old, and I did not set this stuff up!) As the new Tmobile gateway does NOT have a coax cable, will I still be able to use it? I did see something about using a MoCA 2.5 adapter, so I purchased one. Now I'm wondering if this will actually work. Any help from anyone is much appreciated!!

    • @NaterTater
      @NaterTater  Год назад +2

      You can return the MoCA adapter. Your old ISP is the Arris modem and it gets "the internet" from the coax cable. Your new tmobile gateway gets "the internet" wirelessly from the cell tower so it does not need the coax. Unplug the ethernet cable from the aris (other side stays in the netgear router as it is) and plug it into the tmobile gateway and you should be all set.

He does not get a great signal but it's better than Hughes Net. You have had multiple T-Mobile gateways. Do you use the same app on your phone for all of them? I am going to Florida to help my friend and would like to use my phone since I use Mint (T-Mobile) and can see where the cell towers are. Also, he does not want to drill holes in his house to run an antennae. Is there a problem of putting a gateway outside on a covered porch, attaching an antennae and maybe using a mesh system to get the signal into the house. Sorry if this is not the correct place to ask these questions. Nick

      None of T-Mobile's gateways offer these options, but even with third-party equipment, and even when using IPv6 where you do receive a non-NAT'ed /64, port-forwarding won't work due to the T-Mobile network being set up to block all unsolicited incoming connections. I've heard, but not confirmed, that customers with the business version of this service (TMBI, which requires a valid EIN number) and who pay extra for a static IP can request incoming connections be unblocked. Otherwise, using a VPN (terminating to a device behind the TMHI gateway) is the only real solution for accepting incoming connections.

Nothing has changed as far as I know to the tower we access. So how do you go about getting one of the Arcadyan TMOG4AR units? Can we call T-Mobile and ask for it as a replacement? For reference we always get 2 bars on the Nokia unit, download used to be 40Mbs and up was about 4Mbs, but now it sometimes goes to down 10-20Mbs and up .04 - 1Mbs. Depends on the day but overall performance is down so I'm thinking new hardware like the Arcadyan TMOG4AR should help. I don't use an external antenna so I like that this one has the option of adding a Waverform without needing to open it up.

On NSA 5G, your weak upload is from a weak LTE anchor signal/signal quality. On SA 5G n41 only, I get upwards of 100Mbps upload, because on n41 the upload potential is increased via increase in bandwidth (eg, 40Mhz vs 140Mhz etc).
