  • External antenna speed and ping test for T-Mobile 5G Home Internet (Verizon and AT&T too). Waveform's new indoor and outdoor 4x4 MIMO antennas. This is the QuadMini and QuadPro antennas as well as the new cables and mounts. This includes a specialty window passage cable to get from indoor to outside without drilling a hole in the house exterior. There is also a new flex mount. In this video I compare the stock TMHI Arcadyan G4AR to the QuadMini and QuadPro setups outside on an antenna tower. Waveform sent me these products to review. Good work. It is much appreciated. Not ready to get antenna yet. But I would have never considered the waveform 4X4 external antenna because of the difficulties of installing. Looks like Waveform has gone the extra mile to overcome those difficulties with the through the window cabling and the new mounting options. I believe I have a window that would work perfectly for an installation of the Quad Pro.

    • @NaterTater
      @NaterTater  22 дня назад

      @donr100 yes, there is always a loss anytime you use a cable or connection. I walk through the loss for the cables and connectors here ruclips.net/video/Dndcn4a8N2w/видео.html. Overall is very minor for the window cable, positioning the antenna outside far outweighs the signal loss in the cable.

    Ive purchased the mini, as im close to the tower, and want an antenna be able to move to a better indoor location. Mostly, this has increased 10-20% indoor, upload, sinr and rsrp are more stable, and keeps from dropping to n71. Speeds on download max to the tower are more tied to placement, and time.of day. Tower won't go beyond 700Mbps/140Mbps (site limit). Typical results at 1200' (partial obstruction) is 500-700Mbps, upload is 45-60Mbps.

    Nate, would I even benefit from a waveform dish living so close to my tower? I live roughly 850 ft from my tower. (Not including elevation height of the tower, which is about 300 ft or so)
    I’m thinking the quad pro may be too powerful and may cause a lot of interference or degradation of the signal being so close, what do you think you think?
    The quad mini might would be okay, but isn’t it better to use a directional antenna when you have a good line of sight?
    So far, I get great download and upload speeds, but my ping is meh. I just wish there was a great 4x4 mimo ptp antenna out there that didn’t put out as much gain as the quad pro, but picked up frequencies better than the default ones.

      oh man, a 50yr old RV. I hear new RV's are a "project". Can't imagine that one. If its a metal/al window with no seals (I think that is how RV windows are right?) then it might not work even with the window entry cable. There needs to be some kind of "give" in the closure to accommodate the thin but existent ribbon.

    Really enjoy your videos but have questions. I will be moving to a location that practically has no cell service. I can sporadically pick up an ATT signal in the yard but certainly nothing in the house. I can go up the hill a little ways and start to get reception. I'm hoping the Waveform will resolve this issue. My question is: 1) Will these antennas pick up signal from any wireless carrier? If not, then how does it know which signal to pick up from a specific carrier? 2) As mentioned, I currently have ATT as my carrier and would like to keep that. However, I'm thinking about going with T-Mobile for internet and using something like either the Cheetah or Netbuddy for my router. How would it work having ATT as my cell carrier and T-Mobile for my internet? Just trying to get understanding on how this setup would work. Thanks!

    • @NaterTater
      @NaterTater  Месяц назад

      @benjustice492 if you can get a signal up on the roof or someplace you can put the waveform then you'll be good. It works with all carriers. Most phones effectively work just fine with no cellular and just wifi so in a way your tmo internet will help your att phone work inside the house through the wifi.

    Hey Nate... Excellent work here. Because of my location and trees, I will probably need to go up my mast at least 15 feet before entering the house.. House is approx. 65 feet long. So, I'll (probably need around 45 to 50 feet of cable to get the gateway in a central location. 4,800 sq. ft on two levels. So the question is: Have you done any actual testing with the HQ low-loss cabling.?? I know the "specs" say it's better loss numbers, but what is the actual effect at the gateway.??
    Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Nate.

    • @NaterTater
      @NaterTater  5 месяцев назад

      I have their older cable which is a higher grade one and will do a back to back test soon. What I've done at my house to limit the length of antenna cable is actually placing the gateway up on the 3rd floor loft and then running ethernet all the way down to the basement (ruclips.net/video/ifRkJb_ejXY/видео.html) where it then gets distributed via more ethernet to all my wireless access points (AP) for my mesh network on my property (ruclips.net/video/34NZwJh4N84/видео.html). I high encourage folks to NOT run long antenna cables especially just so they can place the gateway in a central location. It is much more effective to use ethernet or wifi to get the coverage in your house. Antenna loss in cabling is real and will show up in your results.

  • @gamerhead2009

    Is it possible for you to test the Chester Trident, mounting it outside right behind the antenna?
    Due to its design you can minimize the coax length to a mere 2-3 feet, was curious what your results would be since I had ordered the trident my self, replacing the 30ft kit that comes with the old gen waveform 4x4 panel, thereby enabling me to hook onto N41 reliably, whereas before I would barely connect to it at my location

Used to get avg. of 40 down and 30 up with bands N71 nad b12. Now get 90 down and 2 up with n41 and b2. Would i be better to first invest in antenna or chester cheetah gateway to be able to be band selective and also maybe get better reception as opposed to the aradyn kvd21 i currently have? Not as concerned with download speeds as reducing ping and getting upload speeds back up. Enjoy your channel.

    • @NaterTater
      @NaterTater  6 месяцев назад

      Its an annoying feature of n41, weak signal means terrible upload even if download is fast. N71 is much better for upload in that case as you noticed. The way I would decide on a Cheetah vs 4x4 antenna is I would run an extension cord and put your gateway on the roof/attic where you would install an antenna. If that gives you the performance you want than get the antenna. Otherwise a Cheetah can lock you onto n71 and do multiple carrier aggregation.

    Quick question. Did you bother with the inline surge protectors that waveform offers? I know grounding the pole is a necessity, but I'm curious if you think it's worth it to additionally get the surge protectors? If so, which do you suggest for the quad pro? And as a side question - how much signal degradation have you noticed per 10ft, 20ft of cable added (if you've tested for that?) Getting it where it needs to go is the most important, of course, but I'm still curious.

    • @NaterTater
      @NaterTater  5 месяцев назад +1

      I don't use the surge protectors, if you get a lot of cloud to ground lightening maybe consider it but for me in SE MI we don't get that many strong lightening storms and when we do its typically cloud to cloud lightening. Nothing like the intense summer storms I had growing up down south. This video effectively shows the signal degradation going from 3ft to 13ft to 33ft of cable length and I do a specific test with the antenna in the same spot but with 13ft (10+3) and 33ft (20+10+3) of cabling. Data is in the chart.

      @NaterTater oh awesome! I'd only gotten to the overview at the start so far, will watch in full. We probably won't bother with the surge protectors then. We don't get a lot of lightning storms, although it is windy here. I was thinking it would be fine but I'm glad to hear your experience confirms that. 👍 Thank you for the reply! I am waiting to get a G4AR or G4SE still, a local store is willing to exchange with me, but they quickly go out of stock so I may have to call very regularly. @NaterTater Data on cable length is interesting. Will try to keep it as short as possible but favour aiming it the right way. I ordered two 20 ft cables and a 10 ft so hopefully all we need is the 10 ft. We will see! We get about 120-140 down, 50-70 up when the internet is running well on stock, so I'm excited to see our results. Even with a big wall between us and the outside here in the country

    • @NaterTater
      @NaterTater  6 месяцев назад

      @sawekb8102 the answer to that question is no but thats a technicality. For MIMO to work both the tower and the modem need to support it and have an antenna array that supports it as well. AFAIK all US towers have it and most modems are going to support it, especially ones with 4 external antenna ports. Thus hooking up one of these 4x4 antennas will get you 4x4 MIMO. However you could hook up just a 2x2 MIMO antenna or even a mono and it will still work but at a (much) slower speed.
